Join driving instructor Matty as he helps you build the essential skills that you must master in order to deal with potential hazards. He'll cover all the basic road hazards you can expect to see when you start driving, and will also teach you how to scan for hazards, react to hazards, and how to avoid collisions.
    After watching this video, we challenge you to get out there and see how many road hazards you can perceive during your next drive. If you keep count, you’ll actually be amazed at the number of potential hazards you encounter, even on a short drive. Fortunately, most of the hazards won’t become dangerous, and the ones that do… now you’ll be ready for them!

    Can you cross a single/double solid yellow lines to go around obstacles (big parked truck/animal not moving) in your lane? If u only have one lane in your direction

    • @DriversEdDirect

      Hello, that is a TOUGH one! According to the letter of the law, you cannot cross over SOLID double yellow lines to pass or go around an article. The vehicle code that references this is CVC 21460 (linked below). The only listed exception to that rule is if the yellow line on your side is broken.
      There can also be an exception if there is a traffic officer or an emergency vehicle operator is telling you to cross the solid double yellow lines. Likewise, construction workers directing traffic may also instruct you to cross the double lines.
      So technically, except in rare situations, you should never pass other vehicles by crossing over solid double yellow lines. However, please note that you can make left-turns and u-turns over double yellow lines.
      Hope that helps!

    If u need to move over to make space for a hazard, since you’ll be overflowing into the lane to ur left, do u need to signal?

    • @DriversEdDirect
      @DriversEdDirect  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hello! Yes, you definitely should signal to alert others around you that you'll be moving over. If possible, you should make a complete lane change to avoid the hazard. Hope that helps!
