Hi, I eventually would like to make my own videos as I am a silversmith by trade...but a CRAFTER in ALL mediums! I am just wanting to add a little info for the viewers...YOU MUST wash the washers FIRST ...there is a little oil on them that you cannot see but it's there. You will get better results if you wash them and even alcohol them to get not only industrial oils off but the natural oil in our skin! Great video though! Thanks, Laurie
I would have used sandpaper on the top before applying the inks so the inks have something more to adhere to. Also good to wash them before using to get the hardware store/manufacturing oils off.
I love this idea!! I am going to try and texture mine with a hammer too..use the glossy over top after inks dry. I see jewelry componets with these!! Awesome JOB!!
How cool are they!!!! I just got alcohol inks and I love them. You have introduced yet another way to have fun with them! So thanks! Yours turned out soooo beautiful.
I am so happy to see you making these videos. I love that you are creative with inexpensive materials as I dont have a lot of money and they are really beautiful.
Who woulda've THUNK!!!.....Little tips and tricks like this go a LONG WAYYYY!!! TFS luv the color coordination it created....just like ~Magic~...LOL Ooopsss.... video end to so.....
it is funny no matter how easy ideas are - it is always - why did I not think of this. Thank you for uploading - I have a few ideas how to use them and how to do other looks. The only problem is I now have to go and get some and start jotting down some ideas and then make them up . Thank you so much I will look for to seeing more.
if you are concerned about the archival properties of the washers you could seal the backs of them with modpodge or some other sealer before applying them to your surface........
Yeah a year later and I'm finally able to see this video. I was wondering if putting clear nail polish on them would work? Would it be better to put it on before or after the ink?
My first thoiught is how much weight does the large washer add to a card for first class postage. I will deffinately be doing some brads! GREAT VIDEO. Thanks
I have alcohol inked domino pendants, coated them and have had them for over 10 yrs and no fading. I used a two part resin, similar to Envirotex. I would never use Glossy Accents for something like this. Either Diamond glaze or Modge Podge 3d or a two part resin. Triple Thick and Glossy Accents are a joke for protection...they never really cure! God forbid something else is pressing against it in your jewelry box or where ever, it leaves an indentation on the piece! Yikes!
Hi will the Alcohol Inks stay on the metal pieces with out wiping off without covering them with some sorta lacquer or anything of the sort. Will the ink hold up to water? Please answer me on this Please.. REPLY
@@spanishfly7923 me personally. Not being a pro at all. I would say. Sand and clean that metal definitely. Like a 600 or 800 grit. Then maybe clean with some alcohol. And when you're done. Throw some resin on after your alcohol ink dries overnight. That would probably be water proof. Just a guess. I hope this helped. I'm new at this too. Take care
I have been trying this and I can't get my ink to stay on. I've tried washing my washers and it just fades away can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
I wish I could see your video I bought two boxes of washers just for the heck of it knowing someday I would use them in my art work, jewelry. But......I'm having trouble since I changed to Google Chrome Browser seeing any new vids. it seems the ones I have watched before work fine. I hope I can check you out soon!

I LOVE THE IDEA WITH THE TWO WAY TAPE ! NEVER WOULD OF THOUGHT OF IT ! ..... :)
BEAUTIFUL!! Thank you for sharing
Also, spraying them with clear coat or even clear nail polish will keep the inks from coming off!

great tip with the removable tape. TFS!
Oh, have you tried faux enameling with embossing powder over the alcohol ink?
You can also blow the ink with a straw to give a different effect!

how would you seal these??????? great project i really love this!! Thank

how ingenious! and they look great! : ]
Washing the washers well should help control the color.
so what do you do with these washers after you paint them? do you have a video for that process? Thanks.
I will be trying this out.
I LOVE THiS idea.. thanks for sharing

Posso fazer com tinta de tecido
What is the applicator you are using?
what kind of tape is this exactly? WHere can I find it?
How do you clean off your stamp pad when you are done? The alcohol only reactivates it.
u buy ink cleaner where u get inks
You should also strip the oils off of the washers first before you paint them.
Hi there
Love this look. I would like to make jewelry but was wondering if the ink comes off the washer? thanks deezie
start @ 3:35
those washers are "zinc"plated....
Love this!
Alcohol inks on regular washers will eventually fade even if you seal it with Glossy Accents.
I have been trying this and I can't get my ink to stay on. I've tried washing my washers and it just fades away can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
try sandpapering or going over with a dremel. it needs to be able to stick to the surface
