This movie ends with a prayer. Sweet. Pretty slick seeing major stars playing supporting roles, but the real supporting actor, Joe Swayer, is an all-time favorite. We see George Raft, a diminutive 5'7", next to all others, particularly Randolph Scott, but still a commanding presence. Thank you HTGA.

Thank you for showing this wonderful movie. I saw it decades ago and never forgot it. Starting in 1947, we always had electric trains going around under our Christmas trees and my mom would arrange villages, sleighs with horses and so much more in the middle of the tracks under the tree. Brought back great memories. Yes, I still have our trains.

SUPERB! Raft, Brent, Randolph and Harding....does it get any more moving than the wonderful story of a mother's love and the adopted sons, gone wrong who make it right in the nick of time. Roller coaster of emotions, some giggles along the way and a deep insight on what REAL feeling should and could be. Thank you for this. I loved t when I was young and is still does not disappoint at the age of 56.

I'm thrilled that they finally started showing this movie again at least on Christmas Eve. I uploaded it here for those who don't have the movie channel it is shown on. it looks like I made the right decision I keep getting compliments on putting it up from people who have not seen it in years. I also have the privilege of giving George Raft his First and only Facebook group and that is growing by the day. I made the right decision there too. All of his legacy was being shelved and forgotten and it seems I have made a lot of people happy with both decisions. Thank you for your comment. ; -)

I always like to speculate on "what happened after" for movies I enjoyed. And I enjoyed this one. I speculate that Mario was cleared of charges and took over managing Miss Matilda's affairs. With pressure from Mario, Jonathan and Michael "straightened up and flew right" after this. Jonathan and Jean got married, and after some long, legal red tape, adopted the three little girls who grew up in their Great-Aunt's house. Michael and Ann got married, but chose to live in an apartment in town. Miss Matilda forgave the boys their pasts, but made it clear she wouldn't tolerate any more foolishness from them. A heart-warming story like this needs a "happily ever after."

@@johnraymond4322 I deleted your first comment since I felt it was quite rude, very one-sided, and was far from the TRUTH. The reason George was forgotten had nothing to do with his acting ability or his refusal of parts. I'm also tired of older fans constantly connecting Raft and Bogart together. You are comparing apples and oranges. George was multitalented and his private life read better than some novels. George was a fantastic self-taught dancer that's where his talent and love lied. What I said back to you before (and now deleted) was also the truth, that did interfere in his doing other movies that may have made him even more famous and not why he really didn't refuse but was coerced. Maybe you should have asked a question instead of putting Raft down without having enough knowledge on the whys and wherefores of a person's life and just repeating internet drivel. George was the one that saved Bogart's life in the shooting of "They Drive by Night" if he hadn't, Bogart would never have made another movie. Finally, George was f
orgotten more because he had no family when he passed and no one to keep his legacy alive like Bogart or Cagney. That's where I came in to make sure his legacy didn't die. Maybe you should see George's dance movies or his better movies made in the '30s which are no longer shown on TV. Maybe you should have joined his group where you could learn more about George and even talk to me personally. A lot nicer than repeating old rumors on the man's RUclips Channel. If you decide to join just let me know it's you and I'd be glad to talk to you one on one in messenger.

Hard to believe perhaps, considering his raucous, colourfu l, entertaining life! And he wore a Catholic cross and medal...
Apparently he did marry (age 22!) a devout Catholic woman whom he separated from. But then he supported her financially until her death in 1970, as she refused him a divorce.
There's a recent new Raft fan base which is easy to understand, based on his earlier 3o's films that show his versatility in excellent acting, dancing and humour. Check them out!
