Coastwatch follows Fishery Officers from The Ministry for Primary Industries, NZ Airforce and Navy personnel, and the Maritime Police. Greenstone gets up close and personal to find out what’s involved in patrolling and enforcing the law that protects our coastlines, water-ways and billion dollar Kai-moana industries.
We also follow the men and women volunteering for Northland Regions Coastguard, and the Northland Electricity Rescue Helicopter. Tasked with responding to mayday calls, medical emergencies, on-water breakdowns and accidents, they keep our waterways, and those on them, safe. The Maritime Police, along with the Police National Dive Squad, are also on high alert for any maritime emergencies.

In my country, fishery officers cannot search a vehicle unless it is evident that fishimg actually took place.
I didn't see any fishing gear at all and they still searched.
This case would be thrown out of court out for illegal seizure here
That's your country
That's pretty stupid. Its easy to hide fishing equipment.
we're in new zealand not your country
That's the diffrance between smarts and decline.
Look at all the export products paying for your hand out.
He ripped off that pot. It wasn't ready to harvest.
100% stolen crop, what kind of drug grower would risk transporting it covered with a couple towels ? ...... car would've reeked of cannabis !
I love how her kids suddenly become her main concern as she's driving about with a car full of drugs at school pick up time.
Hay think about it like this - now we can buy weed from the DR's dirty scummy drug deallers
Weed is no worse than beer ya dumb limey😂
People who equivocate cannabis with problem drugs are very ignorant!
Perfectly legal here in Canada.
2nd largest, and apparently much more up to date, country
Would you say the same if there was a case of beer?
Alcohol causes hundreds of millions in damages worldwide and kills
125,000 people a year in the US. This does not even include impaired driving. Just actual deaths from physical complications!
What about domestic violence?
Most cases involve alcohol.
Cannabis has killed no one EVER in all history!
For a developed country, New Zealand seems kinda backward and not progessive

If they are over the limit don’t let them have any or get more on that day! that might have better effect.
petty amount of weed dried up wouldn't be more than a couple ounces
Hardly a massive amount.
This is cool
Theres no fuken fish in there i would have just carried on after they checked that theres no fish
Massive ?😂😂😂😂
Main stream media, what else should we expect.
Why are fisheries concerning themselves with cannabis. None of there damn business.
If a crime is been committed they have a responsibility to report it that’s why
Why their face was cover in this video?
why do people allow them to search their cars, if they are not fishing they have no right to search any vehicle
Yes they do. Read up on their powers. They have the same authority, if not more than they police in New Zealand.
@@duckattacker6455 only if they have probable cause that you were fishing, they are searching everyone

(b)
stop and search a motor vehicle, private or chartered aircraft, boat or other conveyance, in or on which he or she believes on reasonable grounds that wildlife or fish is being carried by a person, and

@@TylerSmith-jf3dgthat’s not true in new zealand
Please I'm a D.A.R.E. graduate
with such lax rules and punishments done expect seafood stocks to last much longer
Most lumps of protein 😋 went south, just rats left.
Go figure the diff between noise and maths.
Watching coast rescue ' most offenders seem to be mauri , islanders or chinamen !
Not great guys fisheries is one thing but those guys just had some plants in their car 😢
What crime. Only bigots call weed a crime.
And that's why we have 4th amendment in USA
Should be illegal searching. Here they can’t search anything unless it’s clear fishing took place
Why should it be illegal searching. Different countries have different rules, it's a perfectly legal search in NZ, and is a good idea as well.

Hahaha of course they do mate, they have the same power of authority, read up on their powers. I would be much more afraid of them than police.
