Coastwatch follows Fishery Officers from The Ministry for Primary Industries, NZ Airforce and Navy personnel, and the Maritime Police. Greenstone gets up close and personal to find out what’s involved in patrolling and enforcing the law that protects our coastlines, water-ways and billion dollar Kai-moana industries.
We also follow the men and women volunteering for Northland Regions Coastguard, and the Northland Electricity Rescue Helicopter. Tasked with responding to mayday calls, medical emergencies, on-water breakdowns and accidents, they keep our waterways, and those on them, safe. The Maritime Police, along with the Police National Dive Squad, are also on high alert for any maritime emergencies.

I'm appalled at what people will do for cash! Deplete our stock of kaimoana so they can make a quick buck and our growing moko will go without because of their greed! It blows my mind...

300 hrs of community service and a ban from fishing wont stop him from fishing...

I know the fisheries officers are working together very hard, but the law is kind like a joke to me at least. Community service 300 hrs only for such an offence, and ban from fishing for 3 years, how? You tell some law breaker not to fish in the next 3 years, and then just leave and wish he will obey that? No, I don't think so. Officers are working very hard for minimal effect, it is almost like to play piano to cows, which is a traditional Chinese proverb. I think it is some kind of circle, officers have jobs and working on it, poachers keep doing what they want, fines enriched the head office, then the circle is spinning permanently. Sad, but maybe, just maybe, the truth it is. Still, thank you for the hard work, first line MOF officers.

Tell Shane, he can't comprehend production and extraction are diffrent kettle of fish.
Have a audit , try conducive verses expediant or inovative and husbandry verses some long string of vowels.
Or better still basic maths from the farm.

Your country has a serious problem you need to increase the fines and start giving out lifetime bans from fishing and if caught again then jail time
