Usually when enemies don’t turn around, I take it as “ok I’m not supposed to go this way. Let’s find out if we can go upstairs or out a window.”
Or you're meant to use a tool to sneak attack them.
Or you could use a wind chime to distract them. That's literally what they're for.

Sometimes it's a glitch. Instead of waiting, u restart the game and the guard will go to his original position.

That's what I did the first time I played AC1. I made it to Masyaf and was sneaking around because I didn't know the guards were on my side. I spent 20 minutes getting through it when it should've taken me 2.

That is like one of those extremely hard splinter cell missions from the first game where the guards guarded a door and you couldn't pass without being found

@@InceyWincey the problem Is that in the First Splinter Cell there Is no whistle so You can't lure enemies onto your position
@@criskii pretty sure you could just throw a bottle or a rock or something. There was definitely a mechanic that distracted the guards. It’s been like 20 years since I completed it but me and a friend had a race to see who could finish it first without being spotted once. You can in fact do the whole thing without alerting anybody except the guy at the end with the briefcase. Unless I’m thinking of a different game.
