Yes, and the reporters’ shouted questions after Biden’s statement weren’t even about having a plan of action for Supreme Court reform. They all screamed questions about whether he is capable of being president and why he should be the candidate. He obviously should be replaced, but corporate media couldn’t put it aside for 5 minutes and focus on an existential danger to democracy.

The legislative or judical branch can't criminalize the executive branch for conduct like killing Solamani. They can crimininalize the president for stealing a pack of cigarettes because it's a non-official act. The constitutional remedy for official criminal behavior is impeachment

I read and listen to these activists and watch how methodical they've been in achieving goal after goal.
So I don't agree with your premise that if this was intentional they would have no constraints.
They've often overplayed their hand recently but they got in the position to wield should power through incremental progress and measured steps.
This is why Roberts (until now, after allll the damage he's done) was considered an "institutionalist" because he cultivated a reputation as someone with an agenda but not crazy.
That, as we see most clearly now, was a facade and pretense. But this pretense allowed them to get where they are and not set off alarms which could encourage the kind of opposition that would threaten their power.

I don't know how much confidence you have in polls but one thing is consistent and that is that Biden has been trailing trump since we'll before the debate and those margins haven't changed. The polls also show that the majority of Dem voters are voting against trump and that the majority of repub voters are voting for trump.
It appears, if you trust the polling, that Biden is set to lose to trump. The Dems might lose whether they replace Biden or not but it does suggest that there's not much enthusiasm for Biden himself.
I think the polling among independents slightly favoured trump. I haven't seen any polling from the swing states.
What about down ballot votes? I don't know the US system.
There is much to be concerned about from where I sit but my concerns are more geopolitical.
No one dares psychoanalyze the Dems at this point, lest they lose even ONE single vote to the pests out there who insist on voting as a mode of personal expression.
