I didn’t like Hilary because her rhetoric was to the right of Obama and I felt really sold out by Obama (because of the nature of the bailouts). I thought she would just be more of the same. I didn’t trust Trump but idk. The whole thing depressed me and the couch won my vote. A depressed Bernie bro missing the opportunity to be heard because of shear… idk. Depressed apathy? But as I’m aging I’m becoming a more reliable voter and have realized the importance of local races.

Did I ever do a double take when you said it was Thursday. At seventy eight I thought I was getting old timers and panicked instantly.

But they didn’t explain how the right knew Joe had dementia, but the left didn’t.
Everyone in congress over 60 should not be allowed to run for re-election again. We need young people in charge of the country for once.

Being 60 though doesn't automatically promise that one is a bit out of touch or at least incapable of doing the job, now being around 80 or so may be a problem for some as cognitive decline may be progressive in some cases at that time. But it all depends on the individual. And being young doesn't promise one is able to perform well either. I could easily see some young politicians try to get by on trying to be relatable to the youth and still not get much really seriously done for the most part, just running on a platform of "vote for me, I'm young and hip totally guys, look how down I am." That's how AOC comes across much of the time even.

Kamala isn't who I want, but better than Biden, and if she's the one due to circumstances fine. BUT consider if Biden steps down and she becomes the candidate, she could pick a running mate. That running mate could be someone who is more well liked, and strategically well liked by the people she would need to vote for her.

I had a rather neutral opinion of Hillary when her race started. But her smugness and entitlement drove me to dislike her intensely. Then I came to face her involvement in the Central America debacle.

Actually, I'm warming to Biden not throwing in the towel. I mean, thinking about it, it's a bit rough, isn't it? Considering all he's done for the country during these 3 1/2 years he's been in office, to now say to him, primarily on the strength of a poor televised debate, that he should bow out for a younger candidate -- doesn't that leave at least a slightly bad taste in the mouth? It isn't right. I would much rather he stay on in the fight.

There was a Kamala that came out in congressional hearings before the primaries in 2019. We didn't get to see much of THAT Kamala during the primaries - IMO, because she was being tempered by her campaign advisors - but if Kamala has legit grown closer to Biden during the time they've served together, I'd LOVE to see the old Kamala fire back at Trump with the thoughts she MUST be thinking for saying the things he's said about her friend and his family.
I would love to see a jamie raskin vs trump debate.

This analysis of Kamala as a viable is so blinkered by Emma and Sam. Regardless of the identity issues, Shes a fundamentally horrible speaker sounding nervous and stumbling over her words. She is about a bad replacement you can get. It's not dismissing her for fear of prejudice backlash, is that shes a bad performer. It's obvious
I used to feel like you about Kamala as recently as last week, but I've come around. I also realized some of my opposition was unconscious racism/sexism in the sense that I'm holding Kamala to a standard I don't hold a white person, especially a white man.
The bottom line is there's nobody better positioned than Kamala to take out Trump. She's polling better than Biden and that's without doing any campaigning.
With respect to likeability, choosing a strong VP would be the way to shore up her weaknesses. She needs to not pull a Joe Biden and pick a strong VP who will help the ticket.

In addition to a show on the depressingly terrible Supreme Court decisions, can you please devote a couple of hours soon on interviewing people with REAL ideas about how Biden can use his new immunity to push back on the right-wing judicial juggernaut that has ALREADY put us in an authoritarian hellscape? I’m Kamala/Sanders pilled
Pritzker is the dream but the more I hear about the logistic trouble that would cause with the 92 million Biden campaign piggy bank, the more I think Kamala will have to be the nominee. Sanders is a much stronger campaigner and draw for young voters. Having him as VP would give the benefit of a Bernie presidential campaign without worries about age if he promises to step down in 2028. This combo really solves all the coalition weaknesses of Biden.
i was ride or die for Bernie in 2020 but that man is too old at this point
@@kristina_eb VP age doesn’t matter and he can promise to step down in 28 or sooner if health issues arise. This allows all the benefits of an enthusiastic Bernie presidential campaign without worrying about a pres in his 80s. The young voter turnout boost alone would get them across the finish line and that’s all that matters.
This combo really brings every faction of the Dem coalition together. It’s smart so the Dems probably won’t do it.

@@kristina_eb oh for sure I don’t like Kamala at all but considering the campaign finance logistics, it seems she has to be the candidate unless a billionaire like pritzker comes in with his own money. Bernie on the ticket helps neutralize a lot of the negatives and weaknesses she has.
Kamala also seems a lot more malleable to public pressure than say Biden. I think she could be moved more left if she sees it as advantageous.
If Kamala can win Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, then she gets my support. Whoever replaces Biden needs to poll strong in the Northern midwestern swing states. My fear is that she has stylistic similarities to Hillary Clinton. But, Clinton may have lost because of hubris and failed to campaign in the states above effectively in 2016.
