The Lunteren fire brigade has been alerted to a kitchen fire.
This fire took place before we had a RUclips channel, but we still thought it was nice to share it with you.

For everyone wondering why he was spraying water out of the window: it's called hydraulic ventilation. The stream of water pulls out the fumes via vacuum

Nog nooit deze manier van in kaart brengen van het opkomen gezien, wel altijd gehoopt dat het ooit gedaan zou worden. Prachtig geworden weer!

This is how it's done. 1 Pump. In the US it would have been a few Engines, a Ladder or two, a Rescue, a Chief, an Ambulance. There would have been lots of people standing around and probably a few on the roof too for absolutely no reason at all.
Very good! You forgot to mention the house would have burned down as well the one next door .
They would have started with cutting holes in the roof to "Vent" and wouldt have used water on the fire cause it risk "pushing the fire further into the house".
we do that to, in the city here in Norway, due to old wooden buildings. They usually send out the alarm to the local station and surrounding stations, the first crew that arrive, will inform if they need all the extra equipment. They treat it as a dooms day event! But on the country side, it's the volunteer firefighter team and depending on distance the professional firefighters, either are on standby or send one vehicle, since distance between building are so big out there, that there are no risk to neighboring buildings
Fire fighting in the US is way differnt than in the Dutch. Number 1. USA is mostly wooden structures. Even on some houses there may be brick on the outside but the inside is wood. Number 2, fire spreads faster due to the furniture and other items in the house that are mare if synthetic that burn faster and easier. The smoke in an American house fire is way more worst due to this. Also there will be people standing around waiting for task and to relive crews. not in all situations tho. It’s mostly in the higher funded and paid departments where they have the availability to be able to have the extra crews waiting. Most situations they will vent the house. Now sometimes it’s not needed but they still do it. But in most cases it’s Extremely helpful to get the heat and smoke out. American house fires produce more heat in most situations than UK or Dutch. They also spread way faster throughout the house because houses in American are bigger and they have more stuff to burn and spread. Firefighting is way differnt all over the world. It’s better to have the materials and crews available than having to wait for an 5-8 minutes when something goes wrong. That’s why I’m American we always will have a RIC crew as well just standing around.
@@brunner2136 The point was that US firefighting is change resistent and heavily influenced by tradition. European firefighting used to involve vertical venting but then we changed to new techniques that are safer and more effective.
The US still used flaked hose from hose beds whereas we use rolled hose. The fact that the US refuses to consider rolled hose, or hose reels for that matter, is ludicrous especially when you have wooden structures that require water quicker to prevent rapid fire spread. Rolled hose is much quicker to deploy.
We see little to no Breathing Apparatus safety procedures in the US: No Ba tally system, no personnel lines to prevent separation, Firefighters entering buildings alone and without a hose reel for protection etc. It’s madness to us and shows a distinct lack of respect and care by senior officers for the lives of the firefighters under their command.

Wel echt leuk om te zien dat ze een paal bij huis hebben staan. Leuk om te zien wat er gebeurd een aantal seconde nadat de pager af gaat.

I thought it was very interesting to watch the water spray used to help remove smoke. I didn't know it would work so well. If only they would learn that in USA. Here, they would have just smashed out every window.

Whats the difference on red shoulders and blue shoulders
I have no clue what the blue shoulders mean, the red shoulder is in charge of the truck and when first on the scene in command of the scene until a duty officer arrives, this usually happens if the incident requires more resources
@@tdmike3624 If it is a lighter blue shoulder i might be a firefighter who is training to become a commander in Dutch Asp.(aspirant) bevelvoerder, when he or she completes the required training, they get the red shoulderpads and perhaps a higher rank.
@@tdmike3624 It is to sign the role of commanding officer. These roles can be interchanged. You can notice the (slightly) older guy opposite the POV in the beginning removing his red shoulder pads when they board. On this call, he is a 'normal' fireman. Actually, he is the commanding officer in the 'brandende heg' clip elswhere on this channel.
This showed me that the experienced/high ranked people are not afraid/arrogant to function in a 'lower' ranked position. That is great for a team I think.

als ik me niet vergis elektriciteit en lucht; zodat altijd alles opgeladen is (portofoons, tablets etc) en er voldoende luchtdruk is voor de remmen

Dit is een techniek om snel te ventileren, zo worden de rookgassen mee naar buiten gezogen.

Lekker handig om de deuren open te laten als je brand hebt...
Even een vraag van mij als leek, is schuim niet handiger bij een keukenbrand? Water en vet samen gaat niet zo goed. Dat is maar een vraag.
Veel blusvoertuigen hebben niet een standaard 'schuim straal' waaronder die van Lunteren ook. Hierdoor deel je 'de 1e klap' bijna altijd met water en kan je ervoor kiezen als je ziet dat je een vet brand heb om schuim in te zetten (wat je dan beperkt bij je heb) en met weinig water goed effectief inzetten bereik je dus vaak ook het gewenste resultaat... 😊
Als je een emmer water over olie gooit, ja dan gaat het mis. Maar als je een hoge druk hebt wat hun hebben. Dan komt het wel goed. Hun kunnen dat maken met zulke pakken en zoals je ziet begonnen ze van een afstand. Dus kortom, hun kunnen het wel maken met water. Wij niet.
Foam fire extinguishers are water based, better to use dry powder.
