Hey just ran across your videos watching he'd a few, it has my attention!! I recently got my cdl back in May, started working for a company driving a gooseneck trailer, but this past Friday got fired, the thing is I'm a single dad, my kid is 6 yrs. Old and well I have to drop him off at school and pick him up at 6 pm from daycare, and sometimes that conflicted with my job so they let me go. I NEED TO WORK FOR MY SELF AND STILL BE A DAD. I don't have much support here is just me and my son. So this dumptruck thing really sounds like the thing !! I'm willing to sell my personal truck and do what ever to get my own dumptruck !! Obviously need some guidance.... I'm in San Antonio Texas
Jay.. Thanks for the content. I appreciate the information. Starting a new job with a asphalt concrete company and I'm going to work for the man to get my feet wet and see if this is what I really want. You helped inspire my decision. Bless you and all who take it to the next step.
Dear Sir, I hope this message finds you well. I’ve been following your journey in the dump truck business on RUclips and have been truly inspired by your success and insights. I obtained my CDL-A license in 2018, but I haven’t utilized it as I was a teacher until recently. I made a quiet exit from teaching due to the constant scrutiny from superiors and the increasing difficulty of the job, despite my love for the students. I am now seeking a career change into the dump truck industry and would greatly appreciate your advice on getting started. Specifically, I am interested in whether I should initially work for a union or non-union company. I’ve seen many trucks on the road and assume there are pros and cons to both. Additionally, I’m curious if it would be wise to gain a year or two of experience before purchasing my own truck and starting my own business. I value being home with my family daily or every other day and want to ensure this career choice supports that goal. Your guidance would mean a lot to me as I look for a positive change and a successful future in this industry. Thank you for your time and advice. Best regards, John
I got my Class A cdl to become dump truck operator owner. But before I wanted to get experience working for company. But it so hard to find work as new cdl driver 😮 do u have any advice as to how I can find job or should I just go head buy my dump truck.
Not sure where you are located, I would look into the bigger construction companies that have their own fleets. Here in Texas most of the time they are usually hiring new CDL drivers and willing to train them as well.
Dump trucks cost $150k used to $300k new. If you don't have work lined up first, you're screwed if you don't have constant loads lined up. Not to mention you first year or two your Insurance cost are much higher being new. Not easy to jump into. You're SUNK if you aren't running loads daily.
