    In all of the math I have done in my life (including applied mathematics as part of uni prep study), NOBODY had ever explained to me the relevance of pi as the ratio of the lengths of the circumference and diameter (or they did so in such a boring way that it never sunk in). Flula, you should be snapped up by an educational broadcaster. I have absolutely no reason to be viewing this, but glued to the screen. If only school had been this engaging.

    • @jake_from_statefarm7209
      @jake_from_statefarm7209 4 года назад +14

      My jaw dropped when he explained that--I'll probably never need it again in my life, and I haven't needed it since high school, but it made so much sense when he explained it. I don't think any teacher has ever explained it that simply before. It was just "Here's what radius, diameter, and circumference are. Have fun".
      Maybe if Flula had been my geometry teacher I would have enjoyed the class, instead of absolutely hating it.

    • @diegog1853
      @diegog1853 4 года назад +10

      Yeah they explained to you, its the equation of the circunference 2pir, two times the radius is the diameter, thats where every student can see it. But yeah, teachers usually gloss over it, not giving any rhyme or reason to the formulas that they teach the kids. Pi is such an interesting number in mathematics, it has all kinds of fun properties, the ratio wtih the diameter and the circunference is one of those, not really the formal definition.

    That was cool that you mentioned the multiplication of the units. It seems like a simple idea that they neglect in school.
    Also, leaving stuff in terms of pi is so much better.

      i agree it so much! it is nice to see it with pi and not with decimalions every place!

    Wow, I wish Flula was my teacher when I was in school, he makes a lot of sense. This is coming from a person that HATED math in school, and only got by with a passing grade. Science, English, History, Art always high marks...I just gave up on math.

    Listening to this without watching the video makes me realize this is probably how passionate Albert Einstein was while explaining to students. If you’re not having fun while perusing a passion, what is life?

    If I had internet when I was in school I would’ve understood math with videos like this.
