When you clay, put a plastic sandwich bag on your hand and then feel if the clay has worked. You'll be surprised how much more you can feel with a plastic bag on your hand. x
Try a plastic baggie test. Before you clay bar put your hand in a quart size baggie and lightly rub it over the painted surface. You'll feel the contaminates. After a good clay bar treatment, you'll really feel the difference.
I've used the Speed Clay on my 2015 Mustang and results were amazing. Highly recommend it.
i wont go back to regular clay bar and I've had this thing for over two years. I think I've used it about five times. It still seems brand new.
The ONLY downside is you cannot see the dirt coming out like you can with clay, but you can feel the paint and feel it's smooth so that's not a big drawback.

I’ve used this several times on several cars , never marked a car and I was able to move around the car pretty quick at that. Love this little tool
How long did it take you? I didn't time it but it was definitely way under 3 hours when I used it on a accord
AR J not long at all it was pretty quick maybe 1 hr or less. It wasn’t ( the car ) that bad.
My detail biz, is a detail biz not car washing for $25, nearly every car gets clayed after wash & tried this pad after trying & failing with Griots synthetic pad. Mothers is better than Griots because of molded plastic top which is slightly heavier, helping it stick to paint & for me it lasted over 2 months before the black started to mare the paint. Real clay is best because I can see what I'm removing, I just didn't see or feel the same results with synthetic clay.
Skip to 12:18 and use the time you saved to speed clay 2.0 your car.
Used this on my 2016 Corolla, paint feels smooth as glass now, finished off with some Nufinish car polish.
To anyone whom may care, I used this on my jeep (2018) and my wife's Nissan (2019). They look awesome!! I think an original clay bar would be better but the 2.0 was waaaaay faster. Like 10x faster. Doesnt work well on my windows though. The only other issue is, that it's kind of bulky and rigid making it hard to get in corners and in cracks.. All in all worth the money.

have used the Mothers for two years. Works terrific. I use ICE detailer as lubricant and keep a towel on my shoulder and wipe it off very regularly.

This product is new technology and will eventually replace the clay bar. Please keep in mind it is designed for a flat surface. When you are doing raised and recessed spots such as a recessed license plate assembly use a nano skin mitt,

Going to do my first clay bar on my Benz GLE 400. Hope I can get it done in under 90 minutes.... 4 hours is nuts
Looks good. A little tip. After a final rinse, sheet the car off with dehumidifier water then let it air dry. No need to leather. It is distilled water. The finish it leaves is stunning - not a mark.

As a professional detailer just stick with the griot garage clay bar. Then when you clay your car just grab your wash mitts with some soap and rub it on your paint. Water doesn’t have enough lubricity, you can scratch and mar your paint. And as long if you have a good wax, sealant or ceramic coating, you don’t really have to clay your car. I’ve owned my car for 7 months and only have clayed it once and that’s when I bought it. I also ceramic coated my car. Worth the investment and time. Legit video I give it a 👍🏼
Water will move off the surface and your clay bar will catch on the dry paint and before you know it it’s on the ground. Get yourself some Exterior Quick Detailer and spray that on the car and use the Speed Clay or Clay Bars. The synthetic detail spray works great for clay bars.
I find it better to use detail spray. Then polish then wax. Then I have been using meguiars fast finish to help seal it.
RedKeyInUse that’s what I did on the wife’s SUV, I used Griots paint clay and speed shine. Was definitely interested in seeing how it performed with the general wash; soap used was Megs Gold Standard though lol
Team ScatCat I would take a look at the meguiars fast finish. It works amazingly. Wax and seal the entire car in like 20mins. Lasts a few weeks. But is cheap.

The speed clay bar will give the average size car three applications. Cut the pad into thirds and you'll get nine.
Is it me, or is "Speed Clay 2.0" just a piece of rubber mat?
I just bought this to use ony "new" 09 scion xb. Its bright red. So the abuse and neglect are obvious. Ive already bought the mothers speed clay, and am going to start tomorrow. Unfortunately, i live in an apartment building that wont allow me to wash the car. So what im going to do is, power wash it at the car wash. Bring it home. Then use a bucket of soapy water to make sure all the dust from the parking lot is off the paint. Then work an area of 2x2 or so at a time. Its not ideal for sure. But i dont have much choice. But as long as i keep it clean, and well lubed. It should be ok. Its not a show car. And like i said, the previous owners abused it. After the clay bar. I next will be buffing out the spider webs, and swirl marks. And doing what minor paint correction that i can, without actually painting it. In that case, my only option would be single stage rattle cans. It can be done. I painted about 1/4 of my fifth gen prelude i had. It turned out very well. But im not going that far. At least not before summer ends
Good review. Looks like it worked pretty well. I've never used a clay bar before but I have friends that swear by it.
HighOctane R/T I’d definitely recommend, I’ve used both now and I enjoy both processes.
Griots recommends using speed shine as a lubricant. Clay after the wash and drying process. Wax immediately after clay bar treatment. As others have said, less talk, more do.
it works, almost as good a clay bar, but faster. washing a week later and doing it again = same as a clay bar. worth it cause dropping a clay bar will happen, and rinsing it off, does nothing. I like it.
Blitz ore that’s definitely my favorite aspect of it, I’ve dropped it once or twice and that would have cost me a few good clumps of Clay.
I rinse after every pannel

i used it last weekend it worked very well but i still folled up with a meguires show car glaze number 7 polish to remove more contamine ts from the clear being as the speed clay was more of a very light clay and no where near as aggressive as clay magic blue or more aggressive red clay none the less it worked very well and very easilly
Tony Stark I’m still building my detailing arsenal, but I also followed up with some Adam’s H20 Guard and Gloss, worked like a charm. Eventually I’d like to do the same with a glaze but using a Rupes orbital applicator.

I love it! So much faster! Little tiny clay bars take way too long. Little clay bars take you all damn day!
should cover the panel in soapy water for more lube or use a quick detailer spray

Plus you need to remember it's a detailing tool it's not gonna be perfect it's just made to use for 1 purpose removing contaminates from your vehicles surface and it dose it well. 👍👍

AWESOME I just picked this up yesterday , I should be fine my Range Rover is a pretty flat surface. but I feel you on those curve sections the Clay bar would of been more ideal .. Why not just have both right ??

@@tscautovlogs8972 I must say, I'm impressed! It did a wonderful job removing the dirt and contamination on my black car...without a single scratch...now the paint is as smooth as a baby's butt! The only downfall I found is that given that the brush is of a rather rigid design, I could not scrub in very tight spots...I used the ordinary & more flexible clay bar to access these areas. I'm thinking this new tool will greatly impact on ordinary clay bar sales...people do not hesitate, you'll be satisfied, no doubt about it! Nice going, Mothers!!

little tip when trying something new never start on the hood roof trunk always start in a small area that's somewhat heading just in case the product fails been detailing for over 20 years and over that time products have changed but I recommend try it somewhere low on the car because if that did not work and scratched the hood of yr car u would be screwed

Use a good clay lube like speed way or a bucket of your choice of car wash with more suds than normal and if you drop it just rinse it and keep going

best ever is to use Bilt Hamber clay fr UK they have their own clay mine ! avail in S , M, H grades it is so pure they say and it is TRUE ! you can use just plain water for lube ! ! try it let me know what you think ? and update your video w/an addendum ? thx Jack

Just used it today.12 year old paint..left some contaminants in the paint......then I switched to chemical guys clay sponge. Worked better...has a flat surface.
Maybe chemical guys appeared to work better because you removed most of the stuff prior. ??
I tried the the Speed Clay 2.0, didn't care for it, kept getting sticky too fast and leaving marks that I didn't get using Meguiar's regular clay bar. White paint on a new car, less than 2000 miles. I feel like I wasted $20 bucks for nothing.
Actual claying doesn't start until around the 6:30 minute mark.
Hi, my question is , after doing some wet sand Scratch Repairs / then polish or light compounding them and waxing them, Can I use my clay bar over those repairs (as I am going to Clay my entire car) or will that Undo/Damage some of the repair on the scratches and finishes that I just did?
The clay bar shouldn’t undo any of the repairs once you’ve sanded/compounded, as long as you keep it (the clay) rinsed off and free of debris it should only assist in removing surface contaminants. In your case I would suggest using the Speed Clay in conjunction with the wax application. Happy detailing!

My cars have never had a clay treatment and they're around 18 years old; they still are clean vehicles, and the paint doesn't feel super rough so should this handle it?
The best way to tell if your car needs a clay treatment is the ‘plastic bag method’ - taking a sandwich bag as a glove and running it over the paint if you feel it catching on debris then a clay treatment is probably a good idea. You can do the same after to feel the difference, all in all any clay treatment should handle the surface debris if the cars have been well up-kept in the time you’ve had then. Naked touch can’t really feel the actual surface contaminates on the paint which leads most to believe that the paint doesn’t need the treatment.
But does the 2.0 give the same end results as traditional clay? Also, I heard you could also use the 2.0 while washing the car, instead of washing the car first and then using a lubricant and the traditional clay bar, which would be nice, that way you save more time by skipping a step. . I think it was a video here by Mothers showing the use of both....
You can do both methods, this video was a usage of wash and clay. In my option it gives as close to a smooth finish as traditional clay. For ease of use the 2.0 is a go-to, but in the case of my car and many others, if the car has long swooping angles for aerodynamics, it can be difficult for a 2.0 to get the entirety of those body lines - for that I’d recommend a traditional clay bar.

Nice car!! A method I like is to keep a wash mitt above the "clay" as you can squeeze and add lubricant as it runs down onto clay. Rinse more often as you're dragging contaminates around paint. Look at Turtle Wax Seal and Shine it's perfect after clay like most any protection, it's a great product at a ridiculous low price as bonus

OK I have always used clay for years and I have a very bad case of the dropsies. I have seen this product on a AutoGeek show, but was very skeptical about it until this I plan on buying tomorrow . I have 3 cars 2 classics and I can use multiple times

Should you clay the flat black hood (and wax it)?
Personally when I went through it I just tried my best to actively avoid the carbon vinyl, I did a test pass off camera and didn’t really notice any difference.

The best part about a wrap is that it already is a protectant for the paint, so the clay is more for removing the paint contaminants.
When claying if you're rubbing over the same surface over and over then all you're doing is taking those contaminants and scratching your paint. After every area you should rinse that sponge off and hit a different area, one pass. And I don't know why it's taking you 4 hours to clay an suv, but I hope you don't charge by the hour😂😂

I used this last weekend, and I had never clayed a car before. I used the West Coast Customs Exterior Detail spray with it, and got an excellent result. Followed it up with Turtle Wax's Jet Black wax kit for that extra special shine!

I didn’t actively seek to clay them, if I happened to wave over them, that’s about as much as I did. I sought out to decontaminate the paint more than the vinyl.

Steve Shilt shouldn’t hurt them at all, just don’t press too hard. Or if you’re nervous about that try a traditional clay bar for a little bit of a more mailable tool.
Does it work on paint overspay
Marco Delacruz per Mother’s site it claims that it does indeed work on overspray - I personally have not tried it on overspray myself.
It seems that it's better for large areas like doors and all, but then switch to clay for the more problem areas. I will definitely use it to extend the life of my clay.

If it’s painted then go nuts, I would recommend a traditional clay bar in lieu of this though, to better hug the tighter curves of a bike.
@@tscautovlogs8972 yea I'm glad i held off because my bike has matte paint. I didnt know you shouldn't mess with matte paint! Clay bar is better in that specific circumstance. I used the clay bar 2.0 on my wife's car and my jeep. They look grest

Just use plumbers putty, it is far cheaper and better.
