I know a guy that drives a mini s and if you ride with him his chocolate lab sits right behind you doesn't bark but growls in you ear what a trip. Great review. Thanks. Peace bro
I used to be a hardcore MINI fan/owner. Ive owned 5 of them (3 first gen, 1 second gen, and one classic). The first gen new MINI (02-06) had it all right. The look, the driving dynamics, the engine sound, etc…..it was perfect. Then with each successive generation the car has become more and more bloated and less attractive to the point that I have pretty much zero interest in them now. BMW really had a great recipe 20 years ago when MINI came back….you saw them everywhere. Nowadays, I hardly ever see a MINI, and if I do, it’s an older one. I’m sure it also has to do with consumer preference nowadays which leans towards huge SUVs and pickups. Just sad to me seeing this brand kind of lose its way over the years. Great review as always, btw.
Yes, I think you hit the nail on the head. Kinda why Ford killed all their sedans and Chevy did too. It’s sad because I don’t want to HAVE TO drive a big, bulbous SUV. A lot of brands have lost their way. Take BMW for example with their new M5 - it’s over 1,000 lbs more than the previous gen M5! Insanity!
@@dg7438 You know, I actually went to the dealer to see one in person last week and the car looks better in person. Still not a huge fan of the rear tails, but I do like the way that the design has been cleaned up. The outgoing model is quite busy inside and out. You also make a good point about reliability…..gen 1 cars always needed suspension bushings, engine mounts, strut mounts, had body rust, etc. Gen 2 cars needed repeated timing chain work. As time goes on, reliability certainly has improved. I do still miss the rawness of the gen 1 cars, though, for sure.
I have friends who had a Mini Cooper S who were hit head on by a Ford F250. The driver had a fractured collar bone and his wife and daughter walked away with bumps and bruises. These cars are built rock solid.
So we took away, the exhaust exhaust, the standard paddle shifters, the illuminated vanity mirrors, the styling of the interior door trim and replaced with Korean style door cards, replaced the seats with these deck chair flat style seats, ruined the back end of the exterior completely and took away a physical instrument binacle. Enjoy your new Mini sir/madam, where less costs more
Just got mine but disappointed the auto start stop cannot be permanently disabled, you have to turn it off each time you get in the car. It takes away some of the fun coming off of a stop.
I don’t see a Fiat 500 from the rear, not even close IMO. The tailights looks so much better in person. Test drove one and was impressed, it feels more refined. I actually loved the interior considering the materials on the dash and doors. It feels modern.
@@Themayseffect ruclips.net/video/AUMigwVL6Gw/видео.htmlsi=SO_Al_6idYceygdA Yes it is, Cooper s sport . It has the JCW Pack Hope that answers your slightly rude reply 🫨
I currently own a 2024 Mini Cooper S 4-door (previously had 2015 & 2021 2-door). I found this video because I am in a 2025 loaner while mine is being serviced, and I am not a fan. The screen can get too busy and I see the potential for glitches down the line. It definitely needs paddle shifters and I miss the gear shifter. I never owned a 1st gen Mini, but I am a purest and would prefer to drive that than this.
I just got the same one but in the Sports JCW trim and love it! Was tempted to go with the electric one but nah! 🇬🇧🇬🇧ps. Where is my exhaust…..that’s the only thing I dislike
I have a favored style S Signature Plus as a loaner right now (while my R57 S manual is in for service) and I have a few complaints. 1. I can't choose my own gear 2. The interior feels soooooo cheap. You can see the seams on all the plastic, and that plastic is cheap feeling. Old Hyundai cheap. 3. Almost everything requires going through a menu on the screen. Heated seats, parking lights, HVAC, stuff you use regularly. These should be separate controls you can operate without looking. Other than that, it's a lot of fun to drive. The suspension is more sorted than the previous generation, as is the DCT, and you can reduce the piped in engine noise.
Wife’s 2009 S finally died and we got her the 2025 S in Ocean Spray Green. She’s still figuring out all the new tech but likes it. She says it’s not as quick as her 2009. Surprised that there is no gear shifter, paddle shifters or visible exhaust. BMW made a conscious styling decision to move away from the weekend racer look to future tech look. I like it just different.
Ugh! What happened to the 09? I have a 10 thats at the dealer now. Theyre not sure. Im kinda scared to get it back. With this price i need a little longer to save, interest rates are ridic. Im not too sold on the interior of the 25. Idont wanna play on the comp while driving. I like knobs and buttons. And a shifter. I do love the outside and i love oceanside blue! I cant wait to see one on the road, ill be waving frantically, giving the happy thumbs up, staring! Lol.
Hey Mini DOES NOT work! Just did the latest system upgrade and after opening it will not do ANYTHING!!!!! Any insights? Even Mini tech folks are clueless. The keep telling me to rest with center console options hard key. The 2025 Countryman has no center console so where is the options hard key???
Love mine(my 4th ) in USA. Regarding your comment about the back of the Cooper looking ( slightly ) like the fiat, well l think that it’s fiat who is copying Mini Cooper not the other way around.😂
Actually, the exterior looks better than the f56, but not even close to the r50/53, or even the r56, the interior it's just cheap, cost cutting, awfulness, no manual transmission it's a big no for me. Summer Weather
Wow! Not going to lie....this is a pretty ugly interior. I used to really like the way Minis looked on the inside. Guess if I ever get one, I'll be looking for ones of yesteryear.
You got the Iconic trim in the classic style. The Iconic trim with the favored style has standard power seats, and a storage box in center console.
Two doors are so rare now. Few left. Great to see them still making one!
Right.. sad to see
It’s still mainly two doors in Europe and the UK.

Agree! I own two R53s and don't see myself ever getting one of the new cars. The lack of a manual option is a dealbreaker!
I actually am a new buyer and the new ones the best iteration yet. Enough I'm strongly considering it. Plus the reliabilty has gotten better.

Impressive.. Glad to hear they were okay
same! i was hit head on in my Mini R56 last year by a Nissan Murano. My Mini was totaled, but I was able to walk away. solid tanks.
Doesn't need shift paddles, it needs a clutch pedal and a stick.
Needs both!

703Speed -- You do excellent reviews.
Excellent job Kenny.
Like the outside not the inside
Inside is.. interesting for sure
@@703Speed -- Same here, outside nice, instead, I got lost. I do not like the circular screen or any gadgetry above the dash surface.
Gage cluster should be in front of the driver

I dont think I've ever seen a round LCD screen anywhere, it definitely has character.

The one I just purchased does have power adjustable seats. The Iconic Package on mine was 2,700.00. MSRP was 38,295.00
Looking forward to the electric version. No paddles on the S model seems ridiculous
Right!
Paddles are on the cooper s sport

There's no option for a sport seat in the S. In the previous mini, it was included in the S but was a extra charge in the base.
You got a new follower 🙋🏽♂️ greetings from Roanoke Virginia 😊
no manual transmission option for a mini cooper? absolute bullocks mate, i don't give a toss about the different drive modes.
Apparently they’re not going to offer one..
They aren’t actually going to make many more if any… everyone would rather drive an automatic kinda sad tbh
I like your vids & I will try to buy this one day.
Thank you man
Can you post a video on the exhaust and the sound. I’m struggling to find anyone talk about and show one of the big changes on the new mini.
Dang - I missed on that.. My bad. I’ll try to get another one

The back end does look like a Fiat. It’s the only thing that I don’t care for on the new Mini. Love it otherwise 🙌. Great video👍

Mini Cooper 4 door is big car and in a good style 😮.Hardeep nandhra

The difference between the base model and s is basically only the engine. Is it even worth it to get the s for more $?

"For 2025, we removed the exhaust."
I like that steering wheel except for that stupid strap, wtf is that even there for, just to stick it to 2 spoke enjoyers?
For me its a nice aesthetic
Where's the hood scoop? Doesn't look right without it! Even though it's only functional on the R53,it's a trademark of the s.
Does the mini cooper c classic have keyless entry?
Interior looks like IKEA
i wish they had manual transmissions ! what a bummer
I have literally just ordered a new mini and it will have gear paddle shifts. Strange why yours does not have them??
In Europe you can have paddles in JCW trim. In USA, MINIs will have it in the following months I think.

I am stopping at 2024.

No gauges for oil temp or other things enthusiasts (me) tend to want. Not crazy about the interior

Iconic. It says it on the sticker.
