The niches in the EV market are not really fully established and finding one you can make a profit in might not actually exist yet. I'm not sure if automotive execs are even looking at reviews from popular channels like carwow. " No sane person asked for a glove box that can only be accessed via the infotainment system! And the copious amounts of extremely reflective black plastic trim... in 2024? _Why?_ At least make it matte (pun not intended since we're on carwow) so it's less distracting.

"Vegan leather". Bovines are vegans. How much electricity is used to make soy and whatever else into plastic? Does this last longer than the failing wire insulation used in the 80s and 90s?
Very few cars use genuine leather anymore, even BMW, Mercedes and the usual suspects. Although 95% of people would never be able to tell the difference, and synthetic lasts longer, doesn't crease or tear, doesn't stain and is easy to clean.
All the things you have said you like about this car are from Volvo, seat fold, electric tow bar, boot storage for the parcel shelf, button for lowering the car, infotainment system. A couple of things you don't like are not on the Volvo, lack of rear window control and Volvo has a physical button for the glove box. XC90 also has more space. Both are big money though and electric values drop like a stone. Who wants a 3 year+ electric car, when the range has depleted? Some but not many.

It really does look nice much better than the BMW electric models. Hate the BMW kidney grilles
Nearly every other EV without a fake grill looks better. I don‘t get why german automakers need to include a big fake grill.
yeah bmw in general just doesnt look good...
They are a pair of lungs now
kidney grill used to look awesome, but nowadys they look as shitty as it gets, they really ruined the design by oversizing them SO MUCH
How about an AEC Regent rear entry bus grill?
I have to say the Polestar 3 is the best car I have ever driven, absolutely amazing and better than I expected. I don't want a big SUV (Please make an estate Polestar!) But seriously a very good car!
I got mine a week ago and so far very happy. Some comments about too few buttons but the big nob for sounds etc and the buttons on the steering wheel you can doa lot with. Amazing drive and powerful enough. I agree with the glove box though however the once a month I use the glove box I can take the 7 seconds it takes to open it via the screen :)

The "flaps" at the rear corners actually have an important function- they help reduce turbulence and drag to improve aerodynamic performance 🧐
Oh, thank goodness for that.
Enjoyed every min of this video! You did great!
Really like this format. A bit faster paced (in the beginning) but not too much like some RUclips shorts, etc.
85K is ridiculous.
almost like they want us to buy chinese crap, why???
Why? German rivals are like 110k and the Polestar is much nicer to drive
@@quavohuncho6156 That's what people don't get. This car is ultra-refined and very well built. Just because it doesn't have some known name on it doesn't mean it isn't a fine car. It's a really refined sporty Volvo, that's what it is.
@@benjaminsmith2287 Exactly, My friend owns a Porsche and was very impressed regards the handling of my Polestar 2 performance. Imagine buying a ugly BMW IX for a much more expensive price tag instead of this Polestar 3.
@@quavohuncho6156 These are even more ridiculous.
I rented a Polestar2 while on Holiday and it is the most impressive and frustrating car ever. Acceleration is incredible, drive is fun, tech is futuristic but all that fades away after a day. Had no idea how to unlock the car, had to use the touch screen to start the engine after going through a few swipes, going up hill doubles the battery consumption, opening the boot takes up 1% battery life 😅. My first day was done to 60% at noon. And I still haven't mentioned about the charging experience. Never again.
You unlock with the key, the engine starts when you sit, opening the boot shouldn’t take even 1/100 of a percent lol. Musta had a lemon

@@Kurre. Then I would just buy an Audi.
@@N1ckZ And loose quality and handling? Sounds quite stupid tbh…
@@Kurre. If you think Audi's quality is worse than Polestar or BMW, something is wrong with you. Also, handling? The Audi Q6 e-tron is based on Porsche's PPE platform and has the unbeatable Torsen quattro AWD system.
@@N1ckZ Have you been inside of a Q6? Well equipped trims are filled with black plastic and all surfaces you touch feel hollow… The headliner is rough and feels cheap, the sound insulation is not good for a car of that class and the Quattro versions cost at least 5k € extra and the larger battery is also an option making a decently specced Q6 15k more expensive than the equivalent polestar
Cars nowadays have come so far in terms of performance... that 4.5 seconds 0-100Km for a big family car is considered MISERABLE... 😅

£85k Range Rover...no problem! £85k EV SUV... urgh, whinge, whine.
That's because everyone knows the £85k BEV will be £20-£25k when 3 years old. It's also why Dacia sells hundreds of thousands of their BEV Spring because it's £15k new and does everything one needs from a BEV.
If you want to travel the world or do high mileage journeys you won't buy an BEV unless you are a masochist.

Trabant in the UK must be rare. I guess it is a Morris Oxford or Austin Cambridge or similar british car.
I can't help but think that manufacturers are absolutely having a laugh at our expense with the EV prices.

I think the EV manufacturers are crying themselves to a fitful sleep rather than having a laugh. They aren't making any money, even at that price...at least for a good long while.

I'm not sure if automotive execs are even looking at reviews from popular channels like carwow.
It's like Polestar saw the nonsense that Volkswagen tried to popularise and thought: "how can we make this even worse? "
No sane person asked for a glove box that can only be accessed via the infotainment system!
And the copious amounts of extremely reflective black plastic trim... in 2024? _Why?_ At least make it matte (pun not intended since we're on carwow) so it's less distracting.
Sorry , the Chinese have so many choices for 25-35% cheaper with more power , range , luxury , standard equipment, voice control , heated ventilated Napa leather seats , mini fridge , entertainment screen , mind blowing sound system , LiDAR , self parking etc etc etc. Like the BYD Yangwang.

@GlitterGuru but they charging as if it's genuine leather 😂
Poor people can now smugly claim their unfeatured cars are just Minimalist in Design...
Most poor people aren't pretentious enough to try and sell that line of BS.
I kinda like the fact that used and recycled materials are now expensive 😂😂
All the things you have said you like about this car are from Volvo, seat fold, electric tow bar, boot storage for the parcel shelf, button for lowering the car, infotainment system. A couple of things you don't like are not on the Volvo, lack of rear window control and Volvo has a physical button for the glove box. XC90 also has more space. Both are big money though and electric values drop like a stone. Who wants a 3 year+ electric car, when the range has depleted? Some but not many.
When Jay Leno took apart his Bentley electric seat.. made incidentally about 20 years ago... Jay Leno said the electrics were neat and tidy and perfectly engineered. Its behind the bonnet that counts.

I like the fact that everything is controlled through touchpads and yet charge you more for it. I like the fact that interiors are lower quality and yet charge more for it. It’s relentless the way car costs have increased over the last few years. What will it be like when they are on,y allowed to manufacture electric cars. Will everyone be buying 30 kilo wat battery pick cars with a range of 150 ,lies as that is all they can afford. Where are on earth will the 60 + % of all, people who only have off street car parking charge. When are these variable going to be sorted.
A bit hard to understand but I get your drift. If you own a diesel or petrol car you cannot charge at home either. Times are a changin' as they say, and in a few years it will be as easy and as cheap to charge on a public DC charging station as visiting a gas station now. Tec is moving fast and so is the ev revolution, as the business case improves, so will the rest follow, just like in the 1920s when everyone suddenly decided a model T or A had to be part of their lives.
