Pre gate hanging road work, but it was great. Never have enough rock
Rent the machine Mike, stay out of trouble
Isn't it amazing that two people that work together and get along, can get accomplished in a day.
Melissa, I have to hand it to you, you really have turned out to be a Real Heavy Equipment operator. You both are the perfect example of what working 50/50 means in doing this, God Bless you both
❤
Try 100% from both
Amen, Rich Fabian !! They are both a fine example of what a husband and wife can accomplish by working together !! The acronym " TEAM" comes to mind !!
Together
Everyone
Accomplishes
More.
And that's a FACT !! Blessings to you both as we see your new acquisition in West Virginia take shape !!
Not knowing anything about rollers, common sense agrees w you Mike. Tires should be smooth. For many years you've maintained ya'lls roads wout a roller, would using a roller on you're roads make them stay in shape longer? I'm thinking it would. Water and traffic would move the stone less if the base was really tight. It just may be worth it to buy a good used roller. I'm rooting for you Mike! I think y'all have successfully made your drive there good enough to last a long time, kudos. Loved today's video, drone shot was icing on the cake. Thank you so much for sharing, you and Melissa are a great team!👍🚜❤🇺🇸🇺🇸
Pretty sure they make a sheepsfoot roller shell to go on the roller to adapt it for soil compaction and that is why you would need the tractor tires on the roller. Kind of like a dual purpose thing.
@@davidmorse8432 Of course, makes perfect sense. Thanks.
This is a great video. I really like how you all explained everything and demonstrated the process and some of the why behind doing things
That little tractor would drive me crazy good job guys
I like the way Mike quickly changed his mind about not needing anymore stone. In fact I think as he said no more stone required, he quickly rectified that by saying at least another couple of truckloads to finish off the drive. Great video it’s starting to take shape, soon you’ll be putting up the temporary building 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Mike would NEVER leave out his dreaded "2A Limestone" from any of his projects !!
Ha, Ha !!
The BX beats the hell out of a shovel and a wheelbarrow or a shovel and the end of a utility trailer. That is what we built all the driveways, pads, and parking spaces with on our mobile home park with. The drive way was around 120 feet long and 20 feet wide. The parking pad for the mobile was 60 feet long and 10 feet wide, the parking spaces were 30 feet long by 10 feet wide.
When I saw that amount of stone and only the BX I figured it was going to take a while. Looks great. When Mike mentioned using a roller a while back I thought it wouldn't take long for one to show up on the job site. They really help getting the base rock set. Nice team work in WV
I love to see Melissa smile. And it’s like all the time! Big smile, big sunglasses. You two work well together. Hands down one of my favorite channels.
Lovely looking lady and that gorgeous long hair just looks so good
When they're in time lapse spreading the 2-A limestone and blowing leaves off , that arrangement that is playing in the background is perfect! You can use that anytime it's very nice to hear on a Sunday morning.
That was good! … and I’m more a blues rock kind of guy. But I appreciate a lot of music.
Loved seeing a couple working together to strive for one goal. Beautiful place for years of enjoyment. God bless your family!!!
Probably my favorite video in a while. I have never seen anyone work hard but make it look like so much fun. Felt like I was watching Nascar too lol. You two doing laps. Love your family and love your channel. God bless you and yours.
Nice to see you both working together to get the job done, obvious that you have a common interest , and goals , looking better every time you get there to improve the property 👍👍👍
Can't say enough about how beautiful and picturesque it is on your property. Road looks good, and the compacting roller does a great job. Stay safe.
If someone told me ten years ago that I would spend day after day watching someone cut firewood and build roads I would have " howled!" Here I am doing that very same thing and enjoying it thoroughly! I am 79 and somewhat out of commission with my last hurrah in view. Thanks for sharing your family and your many adventures. I am in awe of your determination to improve the land placed in your care, your many skills, and your views on life in general!
The past several months my BX hasn't got much use. I've put the mower on a couple times to mow with and did a couple of side mowing jobs for a friend, but other than that its been sitting in the shop most of this year...I guess that's because when I use it, it saves so much time I don't need it quite as much LOL. Nice to have it when I need it though and not have to rely on a rental yard and their ridiculous prices.
This weekend I'm heading over to a friend's place to do some gravel moving and some work for a pad so he can have a shed built. Shouldn't be too bad, at least I hope not. Taking a bunch of rock from out back and moving it out of the way first so the area can be prepped, used to have sprinklers in that area, so that stuff has to be taken out, then put all the rock/gravel back in and packed down. Then for some reason on the one side of the house its got a bunch of gravel/sand mix over there but its very rough looking and hard to get into....course so is the back yard, its in a subdivision in town so small narrow gates and passage way beside the house....this is one of those cases where that little BX is perfect as you couldn't get anything any bigger through the gate.
Mike I have learned so much about how to make and build a road that I think I am ready when we finalize our property to just jump right on it. I just need a Kubota to get started just like you did here. It might be small, and take a long time, but using your techniques I know I can get it done. Thanks for sharing. It really is helpfull.
Love that big stone for a solid base!
There is a roller attachment for skid loaders. It works great.
- There’s likely a lot of viewers who know can advise the planting of grass seed in fall. I’ve been told over the years fall was an ideal time for seeding. Surely can’t hurt to try.
- Amazing fall colors. A day like this in the woods surrounded by falling leaves is pretty special.
Yes fall is a great time, but I think I'm a little late this year. Its supposed to snow next week there
@@OutdoorsWithTheMorgans Winter rye will grow any time the temperature is above freezing, so as long as it germinates before winter it'll be good to go. Worst case Ontario it pops up in the spring 🫡
Take me home...West Virginia. My Dad was born and raised near Huntington WV. Sweet spot in all our hearts for WV. Looking forward to more videos from there.
Yup, a roller for sure. And a grader and a dozer and a lowboy trailer and a tri axle dump.😜😂🤣 OWTM excavating and wood services. I like the ring of that name 👍
I've spread many tons of base, crusher run , asphalt milling with a 28 hp tractor and everybody always said that I get it done faster than anybody they've ever seen with small equipment. Just nice to get into small spaces easier.
Andrew has a vibrating roller attachment for his skid steer that pretty well. Driveway is top notch!
You can never have too many pieces of equipment!
My goodness, y'all really do have a lot to coordinate both at home and in West Virginia. Great work. Have a productive day.
Well Mike did say “that ought to JUST ABOUT do it” Can’t have too much stone! 😂
Hi Mike, just one question : why didn't you placed a geotextile before the gravel ? It's very nice for the time now but with weather, time and "traffic", there is a great risk that gravel will go down and mud go up. Have a nice day. Hello from Belgium :)
I'm wondering the same thing. Though Mike always put down the geotextile. 🤷🏻♂
Mike will never have enough stone, his famous last words will be, "I need one more load". lol
That'll be on his headstone!
looking pretty..oh well you can walk off a splinter..got to wear gloves..haa..boy that blower does the job..things are going up again,,do you notice...haa great job Melissa...getter done..lets see wheres the house going in the middle or back some...thats nice in flat up there..boy the trees,,you got them..this weather is not bad yet,,but its coming..early i think..Mike you are one driveway expert,,id say..the stone man.haa..great job guys as always..
I was wondering when you would discover the roller. Makes a nice finish to the project.
Outstanding work you two are doing. No place like the quiet of the forest. 👍🇺🇸
Great Work & Great Video !!
.. was really expecting to hear NASCAR Effects as that Roller
was making all of those laps (..snicker..)
Great video Mike!, your right about the tires on the compactor!. They make a nice vibrators roller attachment for skid loaders!. Those smooth drum rollers are in high demand and go for top dollar!, companies use them to seal up dirt before it rains!, they use a narrow roller like that one for ditch compactors, I m sure they are out there for sale!. Glad to see Melissa on some equipment!. Morgans good day!.
Hi Mike - great video! would love it if one of these days you could mount one of your cams to focus on how you’re working the loader/bucket joystick. You make it look easy but some of us mere mortals haven’t got the hang of it yet. Thanks!
You 2 are a great team. Love watching you work and play. I wish more people realized they need to dig down and put big rock in first. Around here they just start dumping 3/4 crushed on top of the topsoil and then wonder why their new driveway is so bad and needs more rock so soon. 🤦
Morning Morgan's, that is definitely a Beautiful piece of property. You guys will enjoy that for a long time. I know what you are saying about the equipment size, it's like using a spoon when you need a shovel!
Mike, there is so many comments, and maybe already mentioned this, but they make smooth drum attachments for your skid loader. Works well for your type of work. Just a thought 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Definitely locked in the driveway! Looking good 😀❤️
I thinkthat you did a great job with the BX. It is quite amazing what a small tractor with the right gear and a good operator can do.
Put seed during first snow beautiful grass in spring
Very nice property. Yall look so happy, just to be working on it. I imagine the smiles when you have a temporary home there.
Prayers 🙏 for speedy recovery 💯👍
The music is perfect. Greeat job guys.
Good morning Morgans. Was able to give my Mum two bags of your fire starter, she's gonna love it. I took her over a cord of firewood on my new-to-me dump trailer. Life is good. It's not even light here yet, but I look forward to all your videos!
Nice little video you guys. Somehow I missed this one until now. You two guys working together,,,,it’s very pleasing to behold.
You got it looking good Mike. Did a great job with it & a great job showing what different equipment can do on projects like that.
Great job you two are really making it happen.looks really nice.looks so good I started to look for a Walmart sign thank you again for sharing your video and the work that is going on.stay safe
I must admit that your the best looking road crew I’ve ever seen. Great job. You missed your calling Mike and Melissa.
You Morgan’s are always ROLLIN
I would like to get in line for when the fire starter starts up again.
Who would have dreamed 35 years ago as you served up pizza that thousands of viewers would watch as you planted winter Rye in West Virginia?
How times flies.
You guys make a great team. The compound is looking amazing
Wish I were there helping, looks like fun!
Great job on driveway !! Sooooo...with snow coming to West Virginia...... Is a building on the High Ground Compound being delayed til next year ? Doesn't look feasible before winter with all the clearing and prepping that would have to be done. You also have alot of ongoing projects back home.
Great teamwork , filming , music match, very enjoyable work, production and result all the bases covered really enjoyed the video 👍👍👍👍👍👌
Your dogs will love it out there. Archie will go crazy with so many sticks to choose from!
Well done Crew!!
Have a safe trip back home
Your choice of music is always delightful to hear. Love the Dave Brubeck. :)
Melissa and Mike, great job on your driveway, You guys make a great team!
I was thinking you were going to be missing that skid loader moving that rock.
I put down winter rye on a few low areas that I filled with top soil a week ago. I see grass coming up in all areas. Cold mornings doesnt seem to be bothering it. I really like how your drive turned out. Any plans for a gate or don't think it is needed?
Melissa is doing all the work, while Mike just goes in circles. LOL
She has that effect on men.
The deer hunters will love all that new parking.
Melissa with "the clap"! Love it!
It looks so good. Good team work. Have a great day. 😊
it was so funny to see you move that stone with the small loader, it was like seeing a homeowner move 20 yards of top soil with a shovel
have not seen anything about the shirts and hoodies in awhile, I think we need an update
Awesome job guys, wheat works also works for quick green up and is cheaper, the circle drive looking good, love you guys
Great job Morgan’s, really looking great, the thing is Mike you can always use just a bit mor stone, I never thought you would be able to cover as much as you did, your experience really shined through. Malissa is right about wounds on your fingers, just so difficult to ignore, take care both
Hahaha! "I gotta get one of these!" I think Melissa is gonna want her pool before a roller shows up down at the wood yard. Man, this is such a beautiful result with your little orange Swiss-Army-Tractor. I'll be showing this video to my little green Swiss-Army-Tractor to give him some encouragement.
Thanks!
Hey, That round about kind of tight i had to remove the trees from mine as it was a pain when loaded. The 2 trees right side drive way going out should go if backing out a trailer it make it easier. Just suggestions.
Mellisa is excited about a new roller machine I can see that.HURRY Mike get one while she's warm to the idea HAHA!
It's looking really good down there at the high ground.
Can't wait to see the pavilion build get going.
And hopefully the new sawmill will be delivered shortly after that.
THANKS MIKE & MELLISA
Great videos 👍 if you ever can't find winter rye winter wheat works great too !
Great job Melissa and Mike, the driveway looks great. You did a good job with the compacter Melissa, you'll be able to hire on the road jobs after Mike buys one of those units. It's looking better and better around there. Stay safe and keep up the fun. Fred.
Howdy!
Mike i was kinda surprised you didn't say something about subway , we haven't eaten there in a while and picked up a couple of subs a few weeks back and got sticker shocked 😳
You may be the first home rural home owner in West Virginia to rent a roller to pack in the rock for a drive. Great idea
Good morning Morgans and friends. Happy Sunday
Good morning!
@@OutdoorsWithTheMorgans Mike just curious of snow removal plans of the new drive? Thanks
@@HallnoutMhall / Good afternoon friend 👋👋😸😺
@@badcat4707 Good evening friend. Hope your well.
@@HallnoutMhall 👍😸😺
Mike, my guess with the “ag” tires on the roller-the rental company probably has the sheepsfoot shell that will bolt to the smooth drum....same machine, two applications. Also was wondering and maybe I missed this in a prior video, was there a reason for not putting geo down before you started with the riprap? As always, love the videos and great to see local people doing well
Hey Mike there are different companies that make a roller attachment for skid steer's. I think that can be a good option for Outdoors with the Morgan's.
I usually throw my grader blade on my bx and I can spread 10 tons of stone in like 15 minutes with it. The bucket works but pulling around with the blade makes it easier.
I like the NASCAR 'hot laps' -- Look, theyre making a Left Turn! Cannot wait to see what's next at the Campground.
Shame you couldn't have your skid-loader, as you said the little tractor is painfully slow to do the job. Love Melissa's grass seed dispensing bag, that is one neat gadget for small areas, just walk and wind. Very clever. Looking forward to when you start with installing a cabin and maybe some utilities. Envy you your lifestyle, lovely to be able to combine your business with your hobby, few get that luxury.
Great seeing your teamwork today! ❤️
Perfect music when you were following Melissa around the driveway.....Yackity Sax or Keystone Kops. LOL
Great video. I was wondering why you did not blow the leaves off the area you were seeding?
Besides all of Melissa's power equipment and machine ability, I really like it when she grabs the camera and does her own thing. Video different than Mike's and a nice narration with it.
Good Sunday morning . God bless you all & have a wonderful day
Great video one of my favorite love watching you guys
Did you get the feeling you were on a race track making slow laps or stuck on a round-about... 🤣🤣 Looks nice!
Look at getting a vibrating roller for the skid loader.
There is an auction coming up in November here in my town that has a couple of these. Kebort construction company. Viewing is anytime now till the auction. You can make a trip north in a short time to see them. Get ahold of me if you want to make a day of it.
Kudos I like seeing you go old school with the little tractor. Now I can once again relate. Lol nice job.
Very nice job on the stone driveway, both of you.
Is there a trail in the white pines?
On our farm in New Hampshire I kept a trail cleared in the white pines.
Wow, a lot of stone moved with a BX. Maybe I’ll try putting in a short driveway with a BX.
11:00 22:30. You owe me a box of dramamine for the dizziness this video instilled in me
Nice team work.....my wife and I are the same way.......makes for a wonderful life.......
mike they make atachment for the skidsteer that is a vibratory smooth drum roller
Good work! Always enjoy your videos. I have one question tho, why wouldn’t you have just rented the skid loader to move gravel and use it to pack it in as well?
Mark, My thoughts also.
