  • #AusArmy conducted a demonstration of autonomous and uncrewed systems including swarms.
This demonstration conducted by the Robotic and Autonomous Systems Implementation and Coordination Office (RICO) highlights how autonomous and uncrewed systems, including swarms, can assist #AusArmy soldiers in critical situations.
Human-machine teams allow #AusArmy to generate mass and reduce risk to our soldiers.

Great work RICO. Some glaring challenges as pointed out by previous comments but what isn’t readily appreciated is the benefit of ‘doing’.. I would offer that development of UxVs and AI/ ML aren’t the hard part, the challenge is the integration of UxV/AI/ML to meet a military need and vice versa the adaption of military humans to working with these technologies. Integration will always involve more than exchanging electrons.

ECM jams GPS (blue force trackers), so even if it's disconnected from the mothership, you won't be able to see where your assets are or what they are doing.
With no GPS, as seen with American UAV systems, this causes the units to go into a limp mode and makes its susceptible to passive attacks such as Ddos.

It's promising, but definitely needs a lot of work, especially when you take into account possible enemy use of autonomous and electronic weaponry.

I have just had a navel gazing thought. When looking for signals from outer space, the new idea is to have multiple smaller disks co-ordinated to pinpoint whatever they are looking for.
Military Radar looking for incoming threats use a single Radar mounted on a heavy truck is very vulnerable.
Would a number of smaller vehicles, (Technical) each with a smaller disk which could be highly mobile be less vulnerable. Other Technical equipped with the Power plant & Computer They could be coordinated, like the small space radar disks, to achieve the same result as a single large Radar. Knocking one out would not greatly affect the effectiveness of the radars ability to see incoming threats.

How short-sighted. Idc i dont drive trucks anymore. But as a long range option this is ludicrous. Who is to change the tyre? Who is to grab a spanner and rlease the brakes on a trailer if they lock? Who is to take off and replace a hydrolic hose with a spare if its leaking? Who is to patch up a water leak and get your load in? Who is to watch the mirrors continually checking your load straps chains ropes looking for loosening load shifting? Add oil en route? A 2 hr trip from X to Y. Any of these issues happen at 1 hour in the truck will either 1. Stop and wait for a tyre guy, mechanic or anyone who can put a new fan belt on or, 2. Cook the engine sieze something shred tyres with brakes locked on etc if the computer fails.
Either way someone is hungry waiting for rations or dead waiting for ammo.
Its all fine when the dollar is there. But next year the budget gets cut, and then these problems just snowball.

I actually think its crap ha ha it's no robotic tank like that robotic tank made in the Baltics
    Like x type tank
Other countries are so far a head it's not funny
The Australian army is so under equipped with out the latest tech, stand off missiles, drones, heavy apc's,aur defence systems,or even a ballistic missile shield
Is anybody else thinking about Turkish byraktar drones used in the Armenian vs Azerbaijan conflict,or Israeli harop loitering munitions
That thing is toast ha ha
We need a real defence Industry not the army trying to make do with the little we have
