      As someone about to set up for indoor cycling I have to disagree. I see I have the choice of kickr core + year of zwift (which includes either the virtual shifting and hub or a cassette) or for £600 more I can get no free year of zwift and this zwift ride frame, effectively making it £800 more if I want a year of zwift.
      And, to me, that makes no sense. Even if I didn't have a bike or I didn't want to use my bikes. I don't understand at all why this sku wouldn't include a free year of zwift.
      As for multiple people using it, I'm hesitant on that given the limited saddle fore/aft movement - others will complain about the fixed crank length too although I'm not convinced that is such a big deal. You know there's just about enough fore / aft on my saddles to fit them to a frame that's pretty damn close to the right size, for me. If I had to put someone else on my bike who was significantly shorter or taller and put the saddle in the right place? We're going to struggle without getting fancy seatposts etc.
      Look at the fore/aft saddle adjustment on a wattbike atom - that's what you need for "one size fits all" - and I bet without looking the other smart bikes are the same. You need something that slides back and forth by several cm not a few mm.
      And the irony is, if I get the kickr core + year of zwift with free cassette, I'm actually less tied into zwift even though I've effectively bought a year of zwift - than if I buy this, which I have to use on zwift, but they don't even include it in the (higher) price. That makes zero sense from a consumer pov. Even the kickr core + hub is easier to switch away to another platform whereas if zwift goes out of business or you find reasons not to use it, you have an expensive chocolate teapot that's shaped a bit like a bike in your garage - whereas if you got the kickr core, a year of zwift, cassette included and a bike, whatever a cheap hybrid - and then after a year of zwift you thought "It's not for me" you'd still have a bike you can use as a bike outdoors and that lots of people would buy because there's a bigger market for bikes than there are for zwift rides - and the trainer can be used on other platforms and someone would buy that.

    Damn, I would purchase it (I currently own a Kickr v5 and Climb, but looking for a dedicated bike setup). As a tall rider though the 170mm cranks seem like a huge miss #ouchmyknees.. why didn't Zwift use the 'claw' type crank to have 5 length options.. or at least a standard crank so it can be swapped out (hopefully we can)
    Also, it would have been awesome if they integrated the fork with Wahoo, so it can be used for the Kickr Climb. If I go for the Zwift Ride frame, I probably have to sell the Climb.

In fact I've built a stand for my bike so that the QR skewer goes into a block of wood so I don't have a wheel taking up more space or ruining my wheel with sweat. there's lots on this bike that is ill thought out...the no front wheel is actually smart. I ordered one last week and got an email with a DPD tracking number. Unfortunately the tracking number is not showing on the system I'm not getting much stasifaction from Zwift in tracking it. All I am getting from them is that it has been shipped and they are looking into it. I would be cautious before ordering. For the record i am in Ireland.

    Will the seat tube be fully removable to swap (and available to buy separately of course)? Saddles are one of the few things that my wife and I are totally incompatible with. Otherwise the quick adjustments would work for us. Thanks for the overview Shane 👍

    This is something I have inquired from a few bike brands like Canyon on. Been wanting bike brands to offer a partial build option for a frame/groupset to be specially used on virtual trainers.

    The minimum reach still is very long for a huge percentage of riders. Most if not all the XS /S size frames reach is between 365-375. Also fixed 42cm handlebar width is also a very big con.

    I wonder what that's going to cost?

    • @aidanearl
      @aidanearl 3 месяца назад

      How much do you think the frame is going to be? For the same money you could probably pick up a decent 'real' bike. My TCR C2 cost be about 500€. I can stick the wheel back on and ride it outside.

    • @johnwoodard8717
      @johnwoodard8717 3 месяца назад

      @@aidanearl I have a bike I ride outside already, it's just a pain switching it back and forth to the trainer. During the winter it's so easy to be consistent; just go out to the garage and jump on, no prep work beyond firing up Zwift. Plus, my daughter has shown an interest and having an adjustable frame would make it so we can both use it.

    Would like to have seen some kind of foot shoe for the front that would spread the load somewhat. It's a small footprint that will sink into most mats, including the kickr one. That and an optional fork footer that would fit with the Kickr climb.

    Exactly what I was hoping for! However, it would be a *huge* deal breaker for me if you can't replace the chain ring. Since it's a normal chain, it will wear out both itself as well as the cog and chain ring. If you can't replace it you basically need to fork out for an entire new frame whenever it gets worn out...

      the fact they don't even have a chain protector for the sweat is an indication of how ill thought out this product is, let alone actually designing it with the best components rather than just stripping a normal bike down as much as possible. Totally agree with you. The trainer itself uses a belt...why they didn't also use one for the bike section baffles me.
