This game used to be life for me
In The Pits Hell Yeah 💯
You ain't lying..I'm a sports game dude..but when UNDERGROUND came out it's all I played
The soundtrack was also great..like the video says..its was a great mix of rap and rock.. #RidersOfTheStorm #MyShit
@@coreysmalls4259 **#RidersOnTheStorm
In The Pits same!!!
Riders on the Storm, always had to put that one on the soundtrack whenever I played this game
One of the best thing about these older NFS games are the soundtrack. You listen to them for hours while you're actually doing something fun like customizing your ride, visiting the car showroom, etc, which makes them even more memorable.
The soundtrack in the newer (post-2010) aren't half bad, but you only hear them when you're racing which is arguably the most briefest (1-4 minutes tops) thing you'll ever do in the game. The menus have the same generic af BGM that loops over and over ffs.
DEFGI fuck yes
still listen to riders on the storm at least once per weak in my car^^
yep
absolute fire
I actually liked that you couldn't upgrade everything in one shop and you had to find new to have new things. Why? Look at the map of NFSU2 and look at the map of any of the new NFS. NFSU2 map was full of races, hidden events and shops, that made it fun to explore the map almost like in Elder of Scrolls game. The maps of new NFS games are so streamlined to make everything as accessible , that there is no fun in exploring and just driving around free roam.
3rdHalf i completely agree
Nfs payback shouldve had that, the world is dead
When you beat NFSU2, the races wouldn't be there anymore...
Yeah nobody roamed in NFS Most Wanted's map.
That was boring in Most Wanted.
It only had 3-4 shops per region and the map was bigger with all the highways.
My childhood . . . this game GOT me interested into cars. Wish I can get back that feeling again . . .
Reinboa Agreed.
Good old times.
Reinboa now the fast and the furious and xzibit's pimp my ride got me to cars more but the 1st was hot wheels. And now since I'm older i like initial d and wangan midnight now than the fast and the furious because it has racing and i agree i miss those days too.
AJ Pleasants Hot Wheels use to be my shit! I would beg to get a single car or a pack to play with on my race track! Seriously, where did the time go?
Reinboa not sure
Reinboa hey crohasit has it
Back when EA didn't rape your wallet... good times.
Green Eyed Gamer back when they actually sold you the full game that you paid for
That's consensual wallet rape. lol
Green Eyed Gamer burnout paradise is going to get remarstered, so that’s is going for us
Green Eyed Gamer lmao ive not given a single dime to EA for micro transactions on any of their games..including NFS Payback.
Marks-Rabbit
burnout paradise, remastered? why you call it remastered, you sell EA marketing here?
New release, check what you see! remastered is what what happens here, Underground by the community, doing new textures, better hardware support, this burnout a new title by the same studio and other studio to do the cheap development, outsourcing. Not updating the old release! Check what you see, run the old version next you it, you see its not remastered!
Custom map, remastered, EA is calling it this, but why?
The content within this game (and MW '05) was incredible. There was always something to do and even though the map wasn't incredibly huge, I never tired of driving around like a madman! Legendary games.
Deja - Review It was pretty big for its time. I loved how you had to find new car shops out in the world also. Best nfs in my view. Followed by hot pursuit 2
INdeed and the car detail was amazing! All the cars felt different, were dietailed, new parts didn't just make the cars "faster", but actually had aweseome pretty realistic effects. When you put the turbo in, it came with the awesome sound and ofc the boost for example. The sounds of the cars were also amazing IMO
i agree with this game but MW 05 no, i hated that game even back in the day, it is trash
@@NJHS92 you just suck
@@NJHS92 you noob as fuck
back when need for speed wasn't burnout in disguise
HaaS Noire I liked it they way
Back when this game has a demo of Burnout 3 and isn't a Burnout with licenced cars.
and whats bad with burnout
nothing.. but if I want to play burnout, then I play burnout.. not need for speed..
I preferred B3
this game is part of what makes me say cars and racing peaked in 2004, it really was all the rage back then
I miss the 00s so much almost everything was epic then.
Back when games weren't Pay 2 Win...
But you had to buy the game to beat it... Just kidding I miss those times too D:
NFS now 😣
Back when games were Rubber band 2 win
Phantom Thief Haha yeah that always made me mad.
This game had no micro transitions or Lott boxes or performance cards! No buy! Lol
Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat feeling when u leave a customization shop with new parts.....😍😍😍
Try doing it IRL.

Man what happened to all of these amazing race game series? They all are no where near as good as they used to be
Things get ruined after a time
A lot of things aren't as good as it used to be. I always say the only thing good about today is technology cell phones, computers etc everything else garbage.
Which is so funny because in all honesty it's a very easy and simple concept to pull off.
The graphics are a lot better, which is a big plus for me. Makes the game files so much larger though.
Forza stills there other than that. Nothing. If you don't have a Xbox you don't have racing games
Still installed on my Win10 machine, from the original dual CD bought almost 10 years ago with a games newspaper. Awesome!
Those games mags with CD's wow!!! You just took me on a trip down memory lane!!!
CD->DVDs revolution has arrived by that time..
@@journey4109 Underground 2 was still on a double CD, like Underground 1. Most Wanted was the first released on DVD.
@Jacopo Gualtiero Si, NFS Trilogy. Non ricordo a quale rivista fosse abbinato.
Who else always got the 240sx first?
here! i think 240SX is the best car in U2 with everything on it, including unique parts, for all races, except Drag and Drift, on manual transmision....and the best one for Drift in Underground, again, on manual transmision.
@@prodanesti the Miata ends up better closer to lategame, but by the time you actually hit lategame, you're gonna need to get a car with better base stats. High handling stat cars were broken in that game, turning sharper and faster than the ai.
your actually incorrect. the Toyota Corolla was the best car. thats not my opinion by the way. its a fact
I usually went with the Civic at the beginning, the Corolla has the best handling but it's the slowest stock car in the game and it remains slow until you unlock the level 3 upgrades. Later when I discovered that the 106 and the Corsa can be added in the US version of the game, I started choosing them at the beginning, they handle almost as good as the Corolla but are slightly faster.
@@cheesyeurotrance95 for me the civic was the best .better acceleration .gud handing....
When you played this with friends at home, splitscreen. You would spend 3hours modding a car, then you also had to wait for your friend hahaha. Golden days where we went to our friends house to play a game together. Best thing ever was beating the game on hard with the silly starting Peugeot 106.
In short it's a best NFS game of all times.
I always loved the original. Playing it back in the day with a steering wheel I actually thought I was driving a viper lol.
No cops say otherwise
Second to MW’05
It's the best NFS for customizations.
Agreed. As cool as the cops are, I get very bored of them very fast, but also the car detail hasn't been toped yet and only possibly matched by Pro Street and I LOVE to tune the cars, think about the parts and enjoy different cars due to different feel, sounds, etc. I also prefer the map of U2 to MW and the races too for the most part.
I really liked how there was an arrow hanging above your head when you set a marker on the map. Rather than having to take your eye off of the main screen to look at a tiny mini map and end up missing a turn, or totaling your car and giving your opponent a major lead. I also miss how simple NFS Underground, up to Pro Street, was compared to NFS 2015. In my opinion simplicity is bliss when it comes to these type of games.

BuryTomorrow12 ok ricer
The rubberbanding on those URL races are probably why I never finished this. Those last lap comebacks made me rage so hard as a kid
One of the problems I had with NFSU2 was it takes so long to get another decent car
I was playing with my start car for like 6 hours
mpg272727 The Corolla is actually the best car in the game.
Abdelkarim Ouzzine tuned fully I seen that even though it's not exactly the fastest, it's the best handling RWD car.. the Celica was the best for me besides the Civic
mpg272727 yeah I agree and it sucks that if you don't get those Unique parts in the level you got them in, you can't use them.. I wanted a VR4 as my final car, but it's when I realized that you can't do that and I got sad cu I waited a long time to get to stage 4 to get it only to be disappointed
Jordan Price the 86 is not fwd
Marco K. I said the Celica.. the AE86 is RWD
I have been rewatching these reviews ever since you first uploaded them. Amazing analysis, thank you! I still believe UG2 is an awesome game and has stood the test of time, I play it till this day.
HUGE thumbs up to the game developers for this this game. My biggest wish for a racing game today, is a remastered version of this. Maybe with a bigger map, a few more cars and events, but with the same gameplay and mechanics, it was so on point for the time.
twenty years later this game still amazes me, I found out that the european version had my Corsa originally in the game and that I can tune it to be able to drift better... it's so much
Remember playing this all the time back in 2005, still a really great and fun game
Watching reviews about older games that I loved growing up gives me this great feeling. Thank you
I played Underground 2 for the first time a few years ago. I loved the physics and variety of events, however the games progression just felt too grindy. I was around 50-60% through the game, had 4 cars, yet only really had enough money to upgrading one of them (my starter car). Even just upgrading all the performance parts for my second car, completely ignoring the cosmetics, took a couple hours or re-doing races to get enough money.
Compare this to Midnight Club 3 where halfway through the game I had around a dozen tricked out cars in my garage, rarely having to enter non-story events to get enough money.
I loved that you had to find the Shops... it made t so much fun to drive around the City.
The BEST NFS title... Period.

Honestly my best memories consisted of me, my dad and sister sitting together playing this game, my cousins coming over and playing this game, sharing a memory card with my friends progressing through the game. Wish I could go back.
One of the first games I ever played, and one of my all time favorites. I still play it every once in a while. Good times
I replayed this game and I loved every minute of it.
which is better?
midnight club 3 or underground 2?
Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition Remix
Midnight club 3
Sir Justin of Port Town of Parm underground. You guys are sinners
In The Pits midnight club. 3 was fast paced that's why I prefer it
Sonic Ace 24 midnight club 3
I liked the story and characters
I actually loved the fact that this game had no fast travel and you had to drive to all the events and the different shops. Every part of the map had something to head towards and something to do in it, and it also meant you learned your way instinctively around the city which not only helped out in races, but was also handy for navigating the city without needing to rely on the GPS system.
I also thought it was kinda cool having to pull into a dealership, or 'roll up' to an event. In later NFS games you'd just have to just get vaguely close to the start point to enter a race or shop, or just simply fast travel to it, but in Underground 2 you had to 'arrive' at a place. It just felt cooler.
Hell, I still remember where a lot of the shops are and I haven't even played the game in years! It wasn't until GTA5 came along, that I knew my way around an in-game city so instinctively again. Much like how you don't even have to think about where you're going when walking around the town you live in, it just becomes second nature. I have the same the same thing when it comes to the city in Underground 2. I just know my way round that place.
I really miss the car customization too. Subs in the boot, different colored Nitrous purge out the engine, hydraulics and neons underneath, suicide doors....I mean, a lot of it was kinda pointless and you'd rarely ever know you even had them equipped (subs, doors) outside of doing magazine covers etc, but it was still cool as shit! I wish they'd kept and expanded that stuff in later games.
**inserts back when nfs was blah blah blah here**
nah I'm kidding the game is indeed good and back when need for speed was all about racing. Currently playing this game in 2019
The only thing that I would really complain about in this game is the star rating (the style meter if you will.) Because according to the game, putting decals/lights/neons, etc. as much as possible means better-looking for your car. Which is nonsense. Also it's not something that I can ignore if say I wanted my car to be simply plain red because in order to go through to another stage, you have to have a car that fits the requirement of star rating of the current stage.
Another lil complaint that I have that may only be applicable to me is I wish races would give you money even if you repeat it, because I do want to try out different cars and customizations and such without having to worry running out of money.
My childhood, i used to play this game with my siblings back in the day. We bonded over this game, good memories
No self respecting NFS player uses GPS marker to find his way around Bayview City. It has been a long time, but I can still just look at the map for half a second and immediately drive there without second guesses
Growing up round this time kids had Gran Turismo, NFS Underground, Fast and Furious and Top Gear. What a time for petrolheads.
Underground 2 is still the nest Need For Speed game released. Only thing missing are cops. I've been saying this for years!
Glad you're keeping this channel alive.

Can you make a most wanted 2005 review?
Your content is excellent. You need more recognition 👌
Great video man! Kepp it up!
i hope you can review prostreet or hot pursuit (2002 or 2010 one) later aswell
AtoO7 YT HP 10 was amazing and so fun
4:41 That´s true, if you lose too many outrun races, the other cars de-spawn and you will never see them again until you get to the next "Stage" in the story (Which basically means that if you are at the final stage and this happens, you are fucked)
Also, win a couple of them in a row and you will get a unique custom part for your cars! In the first Stages you can only do this once, but in the last 3 (I think) you can get 2.
I still play it this day, installed from the original boxed version which was my first ever PC game that I could buy with my own money when I was still in school days. It's so old I had to install a modified executable just to not having to insert the CD in the drive everytime to play
Fun fact: this game was made from MW's parts, not the other way around. UG2 started development after MW lol
but why does it looks way more low poly than most wanted?
The reason for the Outrun mode existence is, that you can get unique visual and performance upgrades, something you had "scheduled" in playthrough of Underground1. This way you can also get to widebody kits in career mode :) and it disappears as soon as in the current tier all unique parts are granted (Tier 1 is just the city center at the beginning, Tier 5 is the whole map unlocked - there you can win widebody kit after 10+ outrun wins - I do not remember the exact number of wins needed).
Need for Speed games from the Black Box era have a great modding scene on PC.
Who remembers glitching thru the arrow barrier so you could drive the city online with friends
Should put this on Mobile already
4:23 Those duels in free ride gives you unique parts (2-3 per stage) and the last one is body kit.
What you do is keep a nice and clean car with maximum performance and then make a slow but hideous car with all the unique upgrades
Need For Speed Underground 2
The game that makes rice acceptable
To anyone replaying this game or anyone interested, the Toyota Celicas is the fastest car in the game when maxed. It’s insanely fast, trust me, get it at the beginning and slowly upgrade it. You’ll be winning in no time
SUVs didn't have much in the way of customization, until of course, you open the trunk...
Good god, you'd half-expect Xzibit to pop out the back.
I'm playing it right now on my PS2 slim👌 I also have NFSU2, NFSMW, Midnight Club, Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition. PS2 best system ever made 💯
Everytime I hear 'in my head' by queens of the stone Age it takes me back to this game. Great game great soundtrack.
Any song from Underground 2's soundtrack takes me back.
It was the best need for speed game ever
I forgot to mention tuning in my prior comments. Generally, by lowering torque in the lower rpm range, the torque and therefore power is increased in the upper rpm range. This isn't needed for career mode, but was needed to be competitive for online racing mode. A glitch would allow almost unlimited tuning for the super or turbo charger, but a save editor needed to be used for maximum ECU tuning (and it was simpler to hex edit than use the glitch for super or turbo charger tuning). Generally you tune for max power unless power band gets too small, with the exception of drift mode, where power is sacrificed to get more mid range torque.
the undergrounds will always be my favorite NFS games lol I remember back when NFSU was on the gaming kiosks in best buy and i BEGGED my mom to get me that shit lol. I was 6 when it came out. I am now 20 lol.
Completed this game 4/5 times and I’ve never watched the cutscenes so thanks for finally telling me the story!!
Great reviews as always
One of my most loved racing games of all time, I hate watching videos like these because it brings back fun memories I had that I know I probably won't get back in the current gaming industry.
If you ever review Most Wanted or Carbon or even ProStreet i really wouldn´t recommend the PS2 versions because those are "Next gen" games and the PS2 doesnt make them justice. They look and run much better either on PC or Xbox 360.
FJM8940 pro street is broken. Doubt it's doable. I own it for steam and there is a issue with the continue. It's a bug that was never fixed when they shutdown the servers. Every time I try and play I can sometimes get 3 races in before it freezes right after a race and I can't continue. There are little ways around it but nothing permanent, at least that I know of. Cause I'd like to play that game again and without issues.
That´s not true, i play Pro street atleast once a year and i never, ever had any issue with the game, it runs perfect on my PC
FJM8940 hmmm did you do a fix ? I got mine on steam and can't get past 1st few races. Glitches and have to restart . Which sometimes itll go past the race but mostly just glitchs over and over.
I dont have to fix anything, i just pirate the fucking game anytime i want to play it lol
You can't own it on Steam, because EA never released it on Valve platform.
Out of all the games that could be remastered, I really hope this is one of them!

the patriot mw doesnt have rubberbanding either, only during Earl's 2nd race
Underground series is one of the most unique experiences in racing game history. Both games, although heavy influence to the "ricer" scene, were thoroughly enjoyable. Both games featured a well structured and intuitive user interfaces. Both were well paced in controls and reflex requirements. Both had excellent art styles combined with music. But, where the first one was a fast and spartan approach to tuner scene and gameplay, the second one...was more. More refined, relaxed, in-depth. It was built to be enjoyed in all levels: be on the streets winning, at the shop ricing or in the dyno tuning. The whole aesthetic of UG2 was to feel like a "bolt-on wonderboy". And feeling good being one. Its the same kind of dive you take when you read a book or a graphic novel. Everyone can pick up the same book...but each individual made the unique choices for themselves. And the game provided the tools to do so. It did not put you on rails, but instead said: hey, here is a city full of action and nearly limitless potential. Have fun!
I remember playing this game in a small office when my grandmother woukd take me to her work when I was staying with her. Good times, that game was so addictive and fun but I think midnight club takes the cake

Underground 2 Was perfect
What I loved about this game the most was how it encouraged you to free roam. Yeah, it kinda did suck to have to go from one shop to the next, but on the way there you'll more than likely run into 3 or 4 races which made it that much more entertaining.
So, yeah. I could point out all the shortcomings of this game, but every time I play a later NFS I yearn for the full out customization control we had in this one... The whole cookie-cutter approach in the games now is so boring.
The og xbox version is the definitive version to play you can play it on the xbox360 in hd.
The PC version in full hd with full widescreen support bid you hello.
Pc verison begs to differ. 120fps and 1440p
You forgot about the unique parts you get for beating multiple freeroam outrun races :D I loved those stuff
They need to do a remake of this. This or a remaster of NFS Hot Pursuit 2010
Why would they make a remake of hp10 it isnt that old
ADUPS I said remaster of HP 10, not remake
Gentlemen Gamer i dont think they would do that with HP 2010, because it already is a remaster/remake of older NFS's, also underground wont be remasterd since the content is too little for a modern AAA racing game, they probally do the same as CoD, releasing it with a new title or a pack with underground 1 remasterd
FullMetalLemon they should do a remake of NFS underground 2
Or a remaster of NFS undercover or NFS shift
Gentlemen Gamer Shift already has Shift 2 which improved on nearlly everything
Undercover is not too high rated in contrast to MW and Carbon so i wont see that happening
Underground 2 could happen but very unlikely
holy shit, ive got nfsu and nfsu2 for pc recently and ive never felt so happy the nostalgia is big with this one
"kind of funny how these racing companies are sponsoring illegal activity"
lmao yeah, even as a kid i thought that was weird
It's not far from real life though because there was that whole "Honda selling spoon engine illegally" thing back in the early 2000's, feds got involved and shit.
man that's some nostalgia right there... you know I think this game should be remastered with better graphics, maybe more japanese cars like the Honda NSX or the Supra MK III or a Nissan Pulsar GTi-R, maybe a bigger map too (not a completely different one but a map with the same layout than the original plus some other new areas), and most important thing.. keeping the playability maintaining the same game (or physics if you want to call it that way) engine.
*Gooo so fuckin’* *_determined!_*

Haha yes. Yeah the name is as generic as it can be to the point where it personally sounds like something straight out of a joke book, but with years, Cingular became something attached to NFS.
WOW look at how many new subscribers!!!! Great!!
Doing the challenge races on the streets gives you unique parts eventually. 1 unique part in each area I believe
Best way to play U2 PS2 version is on backwards compatible PS3. It looks so much better.

How is it, you might ask me? I can assure you this car will definitively be viable from a top speed and acceleration standpoint. However, I need to test it more to see how is the handling ... I never used the RSX too much because the Celica, TT and RX-7 were in my thoughts top tier.
