I must say they kept this outside of people's view very well.. I have been to the airport around a dozen times since the construction started and did not expect this level of change. I thought it was just addition of more gates and update some hardwares. I will go take a look soon.
A destinaton in its own right? Well, I'll be taking the MAX from downtown JUST to visit the new terminal... and eat / drink at one of the fine establishments in the pre-security area.
@MUUKOW3 Another hateful troll I have ridden MAX daily for years and have never lost a wallet, a phone, or been on a broken train. I did leave a hat in the seat next to me once, but trimet's lost and found had it.

It will be. All major ones are getting renovated just like this. First LaGuardia, now this…coming soon LAX, JFK, DFW, Pittsburgh…and a lot more to come
Who thought of the grandstands/bleacher seating? What a great idea. They are located right where arriving passengers enter the main lobby/ticketing area. If you are waiting for someone you can sit down and still easily be seen (if you're up a step or two) by the person arriving. There are power outlets at either end of some of the bleachers near the regular staircases (look under the bleacher). The bleachers themselves are about 3-4 feet deep, so there is plenty of room to stretch out, recline, or sit cross-legged.
It was a shocking change for me. I left to Anchorage on Monday, came back on Friday and it was open. Amazing terminal! I actually worked on that ceiling 3 years ago and had no idea it would look that good when it was finally up in the air.
Wait, what? I flew into PDX last month and had no clue a new terminal was under construction. 🤣 I gotta stop with these red-eye flights, man. Edit: Okay, on deeper thought there were those construction barriers hiding stuff but they’ve been there longer than I can remember. I know the carpet changed.
*Congrats to all the Portland residents! I wish our airport in Charlotte could do something like this, especially now that so many people are moving here.*
Ey, thanks! If you guys could somehow utilize your own unique environs in your airport, it could shine just as brightly. Although it is Charlotte, so maybe they’d emphasize their music culture rather than trees. Still just as cool!
@@spacebar1008 CLT is one of the busiest in the nation (AA hub), yet is so small for some reason. But there is some slow and steady growth happening. My favorite airport because it’s always nice to come back home. So many improvements and renovations have been done. Too bad I’ve missed all this beauty just recently coming back from Mexico. Love the history behind one of my favorite places ❤️
The same plan that exists in every airport with live plants/trees. Ever seen Singapore’s airport? It is a veritable jungle - there are many 24 hr airports with live trees.
This new design really reminds me of mini Changi airport in Singapore, very pretty . So glad the departure area there is no longer carpet , looks cleaner . Carpet is best only for gates. I would hope PDX will have more international airlines to come direct from Asia instead we have to drive to Seattle or fly to SF , we are one of biggest PNW airport so need to add more airlines from and to Asia.
Looks fantastic! Just curious will the parking lot tunnels to the main area remain? Such a long walk compared to other airports I’ve been to. Also, when we picked up a friend in arrivals, she ended up looking for us a floor up outside. Not sure if she was at the wrong place?
Having been to the airport 2x now since the renovations while aesthetically pleasing from a functional level I'm not impressed The first issue issue is the majority of food options are PAST security which imo was a really stupid idea. Why not have a food court that's on the outside of security? I flew out of Portland and I was very impressed with the new terminal. It really is beautiful. It had been many years since I had been to Portland. I was however disappointed with the food options. Last time I was at this airport there was a Food Court and restaurants and shops before Security. They are all gone and only a few places were there now. I went through Security which was great to Terminal D, and I'm sorry but I was no longer impressed. I wanted a sandwich and found a little news stand convience store place and that was it. So I got an overpriced little sandwich there. I walked to another concourse and the choices were Suishi, Vietnamese, Pasta. These are fine if that;s what your into, but many travellers just want a simple sandwich or something quick. This set up was not what I was use to at an airport, however I have to admit its sort of what I expect across the board with Portland. It's their way or the highway.
