Adriana Caselotti seemed like such a sweetheart! She deserved so much better in the VO world. This was a fantastic and in depth video as always and I’m so glad voice actors are being credited for their roles! It also makes me tear up thinking about all of the representation there is in cartoons and anime now!
I read somewhere that Caselotti was the mentor of Mary Kay Bergman, who was in turn the mentor of Grey DeLisle Griffin. Considering that Grey is still actively working in the VO industry, Caselotti's legacy could be considered ongoing
Fun fact: June Foray was the original voice of Karen, the little girl from Frosty the Snowman, in 1969. However, the next year the creators decided they wanted an actual child to do the voice, so they cast an unknown kid. That’s the version that’s been broadcast and released on home media ever since. The June Foray version was considered lost for decades, but a reconstruction has been made with a record from 1969 that includes June Foray’s original work!
The fact that you visited Mel's grave stone is kind. I love how much work you put in this, people are going to find you in the history books and would want to be a voice actor/actress just like you! Much love to you :D
I could listen to Brizzy talk about voice acting for hours! Its always so fun to hear someone talk about something they're passionate about. Keep up the great work Brizzy 💖
This new video series is extraordinary Anna, it really is. Pretty sad that voice actors back in the day weren’t recognized. Icons like June Foray and Mel Blanc provided the voices for a generation and laid the groundwork for many future voice actors. Of course anime would become a cultural phenomenon. The amount of research you did is incredible, and your narrative style is awesome. You deserve so much unbelievable amount of praise for part 1 & 2, I can’t wait for part 3!
A lot of voiceover heavyweights are covered, here. Foremost among them, Mel Blanc and June Foray who, between the two of them, are the major voices of my cartoon-watching childhood. I was very much a Looney Tunes kid - Sunday afternoons were must-see. Sure Sunday evenings were Disney, but didn't feature nearly as prominently. Looking foreward to part 3! : D
Hey Brizzy. I wanted to say you’re a very inspiring RUclipsr. I’ve given some thought to the idea of voice acting and plan to do an impressions video on my channel. I’ve gained a lot of confidence and have people like you to thank for it. Thanks for being you and thanks for being awesome.
I really do appreciate you including the VOs of color, that's awesome. I've actually learned about some folk I hadn't heard of before. I'm hooked on this series.
Ahh!! It’s here!!! I love Mel! Mel is such an amazing voice actor! He is so influential on so many voice actors that I know today and look up to! I love his work, he’s so cool! June Foray is so good too!! It’s such a shame that back then they didn’t get the rental credit they deserve. Even now though, some of today’s greatest voice actors and actresses don’t get the recognition they deserve! This part was amazing! I can’t wait for the last part!! I love this series Brizzy!
Back in the early 90’s I discovered anime and bought my first computer in order to get online via Compuserve which I heard had fan translations of Anime posted. My kids fondly remember watching films like My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki’s Delivery Service on Japanese tapes I rented with the original dialog but with me reading the translations I had downloaded. It was so great when we were able to see Totoro on the big screen with the original Fox dub which is still their favorite. Now they have their own kids who watch the Disney dubs which are easily available.
Truly awesome job! Thanks for all the hard work. Even though Adriana Caselotti seems like the sweetest person ever, when she snuck into the premier, I like to imagine her saying, "I'll cut her, if she steps into this balcony." In SW voice, of course.
Classic Disney movies like Snow White, Pinocchio, and Sleeping Beauty are beyond classic hits. Such anime shows like Dragon Ball Z, Astro Boy, Pokémon, and Naruto are just legendary. I love watching Puss gets the boot the very first Tom and Jerry short.
I was watching Part 3 earlier today when it dawned on me "Hokey smokes! I missed Part 2!" So, I backtracked and watched Part 2, um, this video. And I loved this whole series. It's nice to hear someone talk about Black voiceover history, which is rarely talked about in retrospectives like this, so bless you for that, Brizzy. I know that history could be a little cringy and chafing (I know it continues to be on my end being a Black creator and fan), but history isn't always pretty and tied in a nice pink bow, and you handled that quite well. Keep on doing what you're doing, and I'll keep watching and hearing ya.
It was interesting learning about the untold history of voice acting as well as the actors who did voice acting dating back to the 30's. A person like Brizzy really does take time to know about all this when most of us were not even alive in those times.
Thanks for doing this Brizzy, it’s a nice insight into something I’d never know anything about. And also thanks for not skipping over the issues of inequality and particularly racism, a history that seems to be glossed over far too often by an industry that wants to portray itself as progressive
This video is equal parts entertaining as it is informative! It's clear how much work and research went into each topic and you tie it all together beautifully. Absolutely loved it, Brizzy!
Very informative video Brizzy I didn’t know a lot about voice overs but I have loved animation for a long time. It’s an art that will be appreciated for decades more to come
AHHHH ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO! :) Again, this method of delivery is absolutely INCREDIBLE. I did NOT know about Adriana Caselotti and the sad truth about her career. :( As far as the whole video goes, I only knew of a very small handful of the points you hit on, and I learned a TON. I'm hyped for part 3!!!
Was wondering if this little series would include Adriana Caselotti, glad you put a little bit about her in! It really is just heart-breaking how Disney walked all over such an innocent, pure soul.
Absolutely love this series! It's very interesting to hear about the history of something (voice over) that is not often talked about, even though it's everywhere and really cool.
When I was younger my first glimpse of anime was Speed Racer. I like Anime, but in the beginning a lot of it was so depressing or difficult to follow (Akira was one example). I am hoping to take a trip to Japan, and there is a district of Tokyo that has many exhibits regarding Anime. I also hope to visit the Pokemon cafe.
If I may take the voice of Don LaFontaine: In a world where animation and voice over work come together throughout the years. This is the history of voice acting.
This is such a well-researched and interesting series! Already excited for the last part! Also loving Brizzy’s existential crisis realizing that everyone she talks to in her videos is from the future :)
Another great installment. Didn't even skip the ad (like I normally do.) Glad to see you get that sponsor money. Looking forward to the finale. (Oh and fuck RUclips's copyright rules.)
please, make a brazilian section i'm a brazilian, and our voice over culture is very important for our country, and we love them and we empathyze even more we should i can't count on fingers how amazing voices we lost in pandemic, and how new amazing voices are comming from this new generation, and how some of the old school still have they gold era even in age, is amazing to see this and also the respect we have as fans and for the characters even vilains
What a fantastic video. This whole series is just awesome. I can't imagine the amount of research and work that went into this. It is good enough to be a documentary on Netflix or something. Also, can I just say it's a dang crime that Adriana Caselotti doesn't have her name on that star? They need to do something about that. Racism and sexism permeates everything, including cartoons. Anyway, I can't wait to see the rest of this series. Great job, Anna. I learned so much. I am really looking forward to the video games segment.
Like others have said, it sucks that VA's didn't get credited back in the day but at least that doesn't happen as much, if at all these days. On to part 3!!

I was fortunate to have had lunch with Adrianna in 1989! She made the lunch, and she was absolutely charming!
That’s so amazing!!!

Tex Avery's Looney Tunes episodes are just what you need if you're feeling sick or just need a good pick me up laugh.
You're killing it, Brizzy! This is so good. Keep them coming please.
Mel and June are special in my heart. ❤️❤️

5:43 Disney brought her back to do some lines for the Wishing Well at Disneyland in the 1990s

The Pokémon cafe is so amazing!!
@@brizzyvoices I have seen pictures of it, the food looks to die for.
That was so talented brizzy! 😃😊❤️🖤💙💜💕💞
I LOVE that the Sailor Moon theme song is in the back while you talked about anime...That song is way too iconic
TOO ICONIC
Subs vs dubs should be another episode of this voice over history
If I may take the voice of Don LaFontaine: In a world where animation and voice over work come together throughout the years. This is the history of voice acting.
Honorable mention; Miguel Ferrer 😉
This is a fascinating series. Thank you so much for putting all the time and effort into this!
Again, love your work, you are an inspiration for me, keep it going.
Finding this up was a great way to start my Saturday! Looking forward to part three.

@Brizzy Voices can u please do voice impressions from Kipo and the age of wonderbeasts?
This was fantastic, just like part one. I love you Brizzy, bringing so much great content. Also, what's the tattoo on your arm?
A temporary tattoo of a potion bottle. :)

Omg I LOVE the history of voice over
The only time I can't do subs is in live action; it hurts my brain watching the mouths move to words they're clearly not saying
Brizzy do you think you can do a Cortana impression?
Can you do voice over history of Cinderella
Awesome video brizzy I love it
I love this series! It's so interesting. Thanks for doing the research and putting this together!
Don’t forget that The Man behind Looney Tunes also do the most creepy and trippy song from Dumbo “The Pink Elephant 🐘 with Tony The Tiger 🐅”
comercial almost like lootcrate with that boxes
in that it's a monthly subscription box, yes, but otherwise absolutely nothing in common ahahaha
Hi brizzy
You should be on Christy Romano and Will Firdle RUclips show I hear voices. Talk about VO.
I've actually seen some of the banned 11 from Warner Bros
