Nope. Funny thing; it's the other way around. OG Y1 Majima never strips and his iconic Hannya tattoo appeared in OG Y2 for the first time ever. OG Y1 Majima has like a weird blue thingy on his chest that honestly, I don't even know what it is (an Oni...? idk). Shimano however, always had his signature Horimono Tiger tattoo since the very beginning. So when they planned on to actually show Majima's, they featured the Horimono Hannya with - purposely - a strong resemblance to Shimano's tattoo. You know, to reinforce the "hey, he earned that style by climbing the ranks of the Shimano Family branch!" narrative.
Angry bald dude just started the whole "let's reveals that your opponent does in fact have an over-detailed awesome irezumi tattoo just before you fight" trend and I respect Shimano for being the first on that. It's gorgeous and I do not imagine the franchise without it.
