There is a dress code for state dinners. A mature woman who has truly has it together knows what that should be, elegant. Beauty is like intelligence, it comes from within. This type of dress shows the wearer to be insecure and immature and lacking in manners and class. She embarrassed herself.

I remember her wearing a short dress at the Taj Mahal which wasn't appropriate at all, yet Princess Kate wore a conservative dress-below the knee for India's culture. Those women were about to criticize Lauren, but when the first lady spoke against shooting other women down, they obviously changed their minds and defended what she wore. Even the last lady who spoke softened up her original opinion. I'm all for women wearing whatever they want, but I also think we women have to dress for the ocassion. The dress was too low cut for a White House dinner.
