How is the overal rating determined? Also why does a high level of competition give the product a higher score, shouldn’t it be the opposite way around?
It's just a simple sum of all the scores divided by the number of criteria, you could look to add a weighted score in there if you wanted to. With the competition you can do it either way, you just need to make sure is reflected in the overall score, so in my case I deduct the competition score from the total amount rather than adding it on.

I use Sell the trend in conjunction with all my other validation strategies, it's a great place to get ideas and validate products.

I don't have it to share I'm afraid, I just threw it together on a spreadsheet to use an example in this video. You can create something similar pretty quickly using Google sheets or excel.
Chris, there is so much advice left and right, which system to use to find products. For somebody that is new that almost becomes like a headache cause you don't know how to start.
Is it fair to say that you use Aliexpres, Sell The Trend & Facebook as the main product research tools? I think many gurus try to sell a "secret key" to winning products but I believe it is probably best to keep it simple and think outside of the box regarding products.
My first winning product came from Aliexpress which wasn't found in any of those systems, but now ive had a hard time finding a new one, and I constantly wanna learn but many gurus make it so complicated.
PS. Sorry for such a long question.
Hey, there is no secret to it, it all comes down to the data available and if the product hits certain criteria. The main one being is there a high demand for this product. You also need to consider the platform you're advertising on, if you're using FB and IG then your product should be more impulse buy and eye catching. Whereas if you're using Google search ads you can go for non impulse buy products that people actively search for.

I tend to stay away from mains powered electricals, products you put on your skin and childrens toys. That's not to say those things are bad, it's just I personally don't want any potential risk moving forwards.
