    Thx for the honesty. I've never worked and researched so hard or intense in my life!! HaHa Like you said, it has become an obsession. My boyfriend refers to it as me being lost in the dark web ... I prefer to call it RUclips University. Your Oberlo interview was great because your no-nonsense way of looking at it is more realistic. I've got 2 stores now because I pigeon-holed myself with the first one. My hands were tied because I was unable to run ads on facebook dues to accounts being closed related to my other business ... apparently, they don't like MLM or anything with CBD 🤷‍♀️ Now I'm watching and learning all night long because I can finally run ads. Let's hope I find 5 good products if not that one big one ;) Thx Again for keeping it real.

    Thank you so much for this video. I tried to make a research about what other people are saying about this business and there's a lot of "mentors" who act like they just won a lottery. I just watched a webinar last night and wasted more than one hour listening to rubish who keeps on repeating what he said and not really giving a meaningful insights about the topic. Needless to say, it was an oversell and overpriced mentoship so I'm really skeptical. You are such an incredible person for not making us look like a fool who would just jump to anything we know nothing about. I'm curretly running a franchise business but it's not doing well so I'm switching to shopify. I would like to make you my mentor when I have enough money for the courses. Thank you so much

      Hi Jo, thank you for that I really appreciate it. I try to keep it real because I know what it was like just getting started and how these pre-recorded webinars are just a load of fluff for an hour before they try and sell you something. It's a good idea to get a course so you don't make mistakes but you need to be sure the person you are relying on to teach you has at least some credibility and experience.

      @ChrisWane  5 лет назад +1

      @@jobanadera3095 I don't think it will have that much impact as we're not technically importing goods to sell in the US. We're buying a product as a consumer and shipping it to another address. So unless they start putting tarrifs on US residents ordering from abroad I can't see there being an issue. That being said I have no expertise in this field so who knows what will really happen!

(I am hoping to open a store this weekend but am still unsure of product). Also to confirm - is the format 55 videos of content? The course does evolve into more advanced techniques as you progress through it but by that point you should have a good understanding about how it all works. The course consists of video tutorials and bonus content such as customer service template, page content and other useful tips and tricks.

    Great video Chris, you speak a lot of sense. I have been running a store for about 3 months done over 50k in sales but hardly any profit. And I feel stupid, I feel like I am working for Facebook 🙄.
    I hired someone to manage my campaigns costing me $1200 a month. I did start FB ads myself but like you said in your vid I needed to buy a course and someone teach me how to do it instead of paying someone 1200 a month.

    • @ChrisWane
      @ChrisWane  5 лет назад +1

      Exactly, a lot of people do that and it's only after they spend a lot on ads that they realise the cost of a course or mentor isn't that much compared to what can be lost within the ads manager. Hopefully you have gained from your experiences and are starting to see that profit margin improve now.

    I watched a lot of people saying to stay away from general stores and clothing stores xD well but I want to keep it as a reference point (pixel data and so) to future niche stores.
    MY QUESTION IS: What is my best thing to do with the facebook ads? Advertise the website? Advertise the products individually? Advertise categories? Make multiple product scrolling ads?
    I've searched and I can't seem to find anyone talk about how to advertise general stores. Do you got any advice? (sorry for long text)

    My middle son and I have both been working on our stores for several months, educated ourselves by watching so many RUclips videos like Wholesale Ted, etc and the Oberlo interviews like you just did. I had a problem on my store and was fixing it slowly, but finally called Shopify and wished ai'd done it 6 hrs earlier! The asst helped me edit alot of things with the bulk editor. My problem was we weren't seeing the same thing until she realized I'd been doing everything from my ipad and iphone, but there's certain things you really need to do on your laptop or desktop. Once, I got out my laptop I could see exactly what she was doing. I spent 3 hrs on the phone with her and she didn't charge me a dime. I definitely would call for support instead of wasting time trying to figure it out myself fron now on. My one question to you is about shipping and do you always offer free or do you pay for the higher Shopify plan where you can have the customers choose how much they want to spend on shipping? Obviously, some things will cost more if it's a heavy item. My son is doing higher end home decor so he'd have to charge his customers shipping. I'm fortunate that I have the means to open pay the $29/mo fee x 2 since November. But when I first started, I thought I'd have everything perfect during the 2 week trial. He's much better at Instagram and Facebook Ads, and I'm better at coding to change a few things. He's got 12-15 products whereas I have 40, all outdoor related (that's what's taking me so long is writing up good descriptions for so many items. He's shown his store to family members and 1 product they all want to buy. Kind of funny since he's the athlete and I love to decorate. Google ads do work yes but you can't really target people the same as Facebook. The ads on google only get presented when someone searches for a specific product whereas with Facebook you can put the product in front of someone even if they weren't interested in buying it.

    • @ChrisWane

      People usually move onto personal branding of a product once they have had success dropshipping it. You can get into personal branding by heading over to alibaba but I would recommend doing some research before you get involved in it as it isn't cheap.

      Appreciate that Darren! Shipping times are always a concern for people just getting started with dropshipping but it's really not that big of an issue. I've shipped over 17,000 orders and I get less than 10 queries a day about shipping times. In regards to returns I offer them a 15% discount to keep and if they still want to return I get them to ship it to my UK PO Box. Some people then decide to keep with the discount if shipping it back to me costs them more. It started really low at around 8% because of all the mistakes I made early on but the more experienced I became the greater my profit margin was. I'm now seeing profit margins around 30-35% for each of the products I sell so my overall % profit should start to increase over time.

    How are dropshippers who have a registered business able to avoid paying duties every time a chinese product enters the country ei US or Canada? Not only duties/taxes but also there is shipping to pay for. So as a shopify store owner, every time a product enters the country you're going to pay duties and shipping included in your price? Or is the chinese company from aliexpress suppose to pay for the duties on their end? Who's brining these products into the country? My shopify store or the chinese company I'm referring the sale too and simply just providing an address.

      When it comes to Facebook advertising this is entirely down to you. You can advertise for as little as £5 a day and then scale the budget as you start seeing a profit.
      The very first campaign that I ran was only £5 because that's all I could afford at the time. Once the orders started coming in I just increased the budget gradually and then fast forward to today and I'm spending up to £2,000 a day in Facebook ads whilst still being profitable.
      Ultimately the advertising side of it is down to your budget constraints and how quickly you want to see results.
