I have paid for two courses that include training on RUclips ads. Sam, this video goes in FAR MORE DEPTH than either course! (Both courses are for newbies.) This video is definitely going in my Saved list for RUclips to refer back to! Thank you for your great content@
This was really neat. I've never used ads to promote my content because my monetization has always been pretty weak, I could only be profitable with "free traffic." But it'd be interesting to try something like this someday.
Thanks for this video there is very little information online on running discovery ads. Everyone just talks about in stream. I see massive opportunities in discovery
Hey Ahrefs Big fan! Quick question: I am an investor looking for motivated sellers that are looking for an offer on their property. I am running a new youtube campaign. Do you think it would be wise to run scheduled time ads for example 12pm-9am and from 5pm to 11 pm Monday through Friday because most people are not at work. Or is it wiser to leave them playing all day long to let youtube work the algorithm, thanks,!
Amazing insights! I've had some beginners' luck with in-stream ads but they seem to be very short-lived (I capped the views per user and it seems to only last for a few weeks tops). But your technique seems to be much, much better targeted and well optimized for cost. Can't wait to try it out myself! :)
I make music and I use in-stream ads. I’ve been looking for an answer to this question because I’ve been getting good ctr and watch time on my in-stream ads by targeting hiphop lovers that like music similar to mine. I want to know if people watch my videos on the in stream like they listen to most of the song but they don’t subscribe, when I post new music is it likely That RUclips will suggest my new content to them?
Sam oh I would really appreciate if you can set up a video ad in your next videos? Like show beginners how to set up a video ad using the best strategy for new youtube accounts
The information makes lots of sense! But how do you define correct sample size for statistical significance. So we have more precise numbers to predict if let say we invest x3 money into the campaign.
Hey Sam, I have one very important question. So basically my channel is targeting audience with how-to questions. I am promoting these videos on these targeted keywords. Getting very good retention and view rate. Do you think it will help to out-rank my competitors soon? Does paid ads really help in RUclips seo and give it a quick boost? Any case studies on it would be great.
Thanks Sam for another great video! I just noticed with your video that Ahrefs now have several other language specific channels - actually is there a reason why you decided to make a separate channel for each language instead of hosting different languages in separate playlists but within the main channel?
We want our subscribers to be notified of content they might watch. The same content in different languages might not appeal to them, so we decided to split them into different language channels - SQ
It's a gold content. Some people will make this very legit content as paid course and you share this for free 😍 Wanna test this strategy for my yt channel
What's the number of different videos you've been promoting and for what period (are they all evergreen that run constantly or arebsome seasonal where you shut down the campaign at the end of the season)?
Please how soon can one run ads on a video? I just dropped a video which ranked 1 of 10 in a few hours and I'm thinking of running ads on it. I most likely won't get a response but it would be really appreciated if I get one. Thank you.
It depends on whether you're talking about monetizing (i.e. running ads on their video) or if you’re talking about running ads to the video. If it’s regarding monetizing the video, then RUclips/Google sets out some criteria on the channel. If it’s to run ads to it, then anytime? -Helen
I have to disagree: i run discovery ads targeting the exact same keyword as organic results, and the pay views still have lower retention that the organic ones… anyone has an idea why?
Probably based on your keyword targeting. It may be too broad or broad match queries may be coming into play. Check your search terms report and it should paint a clearer picture :) -Sam
The way Sam was getting excited showing super cheap video views, I was going crazy too.
The video is superbbb.
Keep it up, Ahrefs Team. 🙏
Haha, thank you!

Great video. You talk about Discovery Ads, but you do not talk about what the RUclips thumbnail should look like.

Is there a way to tell if I'm getting subscribers from my channel placement campaign or my keyword search campaign?
you're welcome to Morocco
Very well done. I wonder if these techniques can be applied to skippable ads? 😁
Thanks for the insights!
Glad it was helpful! :)

That's a whole topic on its own - determining sample size for statistical significance.
