I've watched this several times over the years and I'm always impressed by the ease at which he does these strokes. So effortless, yet perfect. Years of practice shine through with calculated movements of a brush.
Thank you for the beautiful work. I really enjoy watching the subtle nuance of the writing. It seems to be part writing-part painting. Not as "rigid" as the calligraphy I am familiar with such as copperplate, etc., rather there seems to be general guidelines to follow and this appears to produce near limitless variation with the characters, adding a level of intrigue. Thanks again, I hope that you are able to post more. I think that it is vital that these traditions not be lost!
your video is perfect! keep up the good work! my aunt from china taught me how to do chinese calligraphy, but i quickly forgot after one week, but now i’ve already learnt 2 characters in one day!
2 characters?! just learn the basic strokes and other ones, then follow examples, after you master the strokes, then you can move on to other words that you write by yourself, then your aunt should correct the incorrect strokes and she will tell you what strokes to practice and redo it again.

That was such a detailed and meaningful explanation! Thank you so much for this. I am just going back to doing calligraphy after almost ten years. I had always used my wrists more than my arm. I think I will work on improving myself after this. This is very meaningful. Thank you for sharing!! :D :D :D
Great video, I am trying to learn, it is good this is in English. Please do more in English, Please make them a little louder so I can control sound. I have to put my ear to the computer to hear. Great instruction.

Wonderful! Within a few minutes I have learned more than an entire two weeks' course.
Thank you! I appreciate it!
THIS is the kind of brush lesson I’ve been looking for. Not just the direction, but like the subtle hand movements that mark with the brush
