you should not learn this video, please. and the owner should stop from showing this wrong Chinese calligraphy method, please. when people tend to become the method they used to, they can not change easier. please search "每日一题,每日一字", IT is a free video from Chinese teacher, a great teacher named 田蕴章。

zhang feng i TOTALLY agree. the person is not holding the brush right. the brush should never ever touch your second index finger joint.

    • @zhangfeng2447
      @zhangfeng2447 7 лет назад +1

there are really different methods about how to hold the brush in the history, but that one is not one of them. wish you can learn more right things at the beginning.

Wow--I just subscribed, and then found that you only made one video, ten years ago. I regret you did not continue--and hope you are well! This video is without a doubt one of the best I've seen about Chinese calligraphy, and I really appreciate your calm, gentle explanation. Warmest greetings from Amoy.

you can memorize these by saying sit (for hooks) lift (for sharp cuts) and walk (normal strokes). so a perpendicular stroke will be "sit walk lift". easiest way for me to memorize so far

    sorry but the facts are:
    1. second index finger joint should not be touching the brush.
    2. based on the style this person is writing (its called "kai shu" ), your whole arm should not be touching and resting on the table.
    3. the strokes are visibly unstable and you are using too much strength. if u are trying to make the words look blacker, no matter how much strength u put in it doesnt work. (trust me ive tried it bfore). my teacher however could make the words look like it was printed out with very black ink. it takes practice and dedication and patience to achieve something like that. chinese calligraphy, if you do it properly in the right way, could also actually prolong your life.

Thanks for the pointers. Very few teachers teach like this. they just teach the very basics and get paid. what you suggest is the traditional ways he has t obe strict on the way you brush and you are very lucky to have someone teach that way to you because when you do these basics after learning it the hard way it seems more easier cause you learned it the hard way first and have a good foundation. Where is your teacher?

      1. pls find 單鉤握法
      2. this is just basic tutorial
      3. true, too much strength will cause unstable strokes

      Ancient Chinese tale:
Once upon a time, there was a boy who had never been to Burger King. Growing up, his mother often took him to McDonald's. She told him, "If you want the best burger, you must ask for a "Big Mac."
Many years later, his mother brought him to a Burger King for the first time. The boy heard people asking for something called a "Whopper." The boy immediately corrected them, shouting, "sorry but the facts are:
      1. there is no such thing as a "Whopper".
      2. it is only properly called a "Big Mac". I know this because my mother taught me."
His mother was, naturally, deeply saddened and embarrassed by her son's behavior.
