I've said it before and I'll say it again, the content and production values of Aus Armour are top quality. You lads all need a pat on the back.
No phoney dialogue, no forced deadlines, just skilled blokes doing great work. 🇦🇺 Regards from Pom Land.
No phoney dialogue, no forced deadlines. Yeah you got that right drives me crazy too.
You nailed it, that's what I love about these videos!
Totally agree, it may be a bit of a niche subject but these are some of the best produced videos on RUclips. The guys working is great to see but the quality of Kurt's ( and I assume ) team is superb and show the other guys work to its best advantage. I think my fave videos of the series are the ones where Darryl went to get the other tanks, he was so happy it was a joy to see.
I love that they all seem to be good friends who share an interest in tanks - it's like the work is more of a hobby for them than a job.
Totally agree, also a good new home for some big cats, which purr again!
It is so nice to see this tank arising from its rusty resting place.
Great job mates!
Kurt’s going for dirt money! Great stuff fellas
C'mon Curt, you can do it
Narrator: Curt couldn't do it 😂
Beautiful job, guys. Nowadays, as soon as I wake up mid week, I'm all "Workshop Wednesday!"
That is looking so good. Love how the designers made things easy for the poor depot guys in the field, like bolts that only fit one way or the way the 37mm had threaded holes only at the point of balance.
Keep it up!
The American Army knew that these things had to be built to last and be easily serviced in the field. If you look at it a lot of Sherman parts interchanged with it, all the nuts and bolts in the suspension were the same M 3 light tank, M3 and M 4, M 7 , M10, and M36. It is a tribute to the engineers and builders that these things after 78 years with all kinds of abuse can be brought back this well.
It was the crux of american tank design, having to take it back to factory for repairs wasn't feasible with an ocean between the battlefield and the factory.
@@henrikknudsen8125 a lesson I wish car manufacturers would learn…
I have to say it,the appearance of a Grant is a tank only it's designer could love.😁😁
Awesome to see these armored vehicles brought back to life! I served in the US Army as a tracked vehicle mechanic. It's been 30+years but working on armored vehicles is a major job and can be dangerous. Being able to do this kind of repair work is a talent. My hat is off to you guys! Great work!
There are a few things I look forward to in life, a few beers on a Friday night, Sunday roast and Workshop Wednesday ...
This has been a great build. I've really enjoyed watching this and how the tank was constructed.
Hi there.
I look forward to the video every Wednesday. You have a great group of people there, with a huge mountain of technical knowledge. These guys can really do whatever they want.Take good care of those guys, and we can watch videos for years to come. I'm really glad I found your channel. keep up this wonderful work.
Greetings from the Netherlands
Theo.
The sheer height of that thing is truly ridiculous! Who thought that would be a good idea on the battlefield!? Fantastic work guys!
The restoration of this Grant is fantastic! So much attention to detail. As far as the turret hydraulics are concerned you might be able to find a retired mining machine hydraulic engineer to come and have a look at the system for you. Or failing that, a REME type retired soldier amongst your avid fans. It's worth a shout out as it looks as if it would be pretty simple to have the hydraulic units out from inside until it was fixed. I know you want to exhibit the Grant in its entirety, but for however long the units take to get fixed shouldn't be too long to have those pieces of equipment out until ready
I was thinking the same thing. Get some hydraulic business on side and they'll figure it out for sure 😎
It's a pity Cutting Edge Engineering are too far away. I reckon Kurtis and the gang would get a kick out of something like this
Great job boys ! As always. Thanks for making my wednesday mornings a little more tolerable. Cheers from Canada.
Heading to Armourfest in Cairns to see this Grant in person. Can't wait! Great job men..👍
Everything fits together - again...
What a wonderful world for tank mechanics - and friends ...
Looks great with the genade mesh!
Rotaret Hydraulic engineering in Wonthaggi Vic will able to sort that out.
Many could
Only a 3000km drive!😅
Curtis down at Cutting Edge Engineering could probably sort it and they are in Townsvillle.
Great! This is such a cool tank. It is just awesome to see the dedication, ingenuity and hard work it took to get this iconic beast going 🦘
Getting close now. This has been an amazing restoration to follow 👍🏻🇦🇺
Thank you so much for these videos. I am hooked. I had the flu for a week and my wife insisted on feet up and watch something. I stumbled on you guys and with no real interest in tanks I really enjoyed watching you guys renovate bloody tanks and guns. Just amazing.
I am a fan!!!
Magnificent work! I can only imagine the thrill of securing those fasteners after all that hard work.
Watching all the hard graft you guys have done in the workshop makes me think how incredible it is that during the war crews recovered, maintained and repaired these beasts in the field.
So close. Can't wait to see this project finished . Brilliant job boys.
This is just one of the very best RUclips channels out there. Everything about these videos is superb, be it the teamwork, the restoration or the production.
The drone shots at the end really pulled the whole thing together. You've got this Pom hooked! 😉
What a transformation. The skill and ingenuity to put the Grant back together is a joy to behold.
Sounded like lifting the commanders hatch at the start of the video was a bit of a workout Kurt, great job guys!!
😅
Always look forward to your weekly update videos, because you show us the nuts and bolts of a quality military vehicle restoration and conservation, terrific work from everyone involved.
These guys are industrial strength humans, most of those parts they are moving around by hand are well over 100 lbs, or 50 kg and could easily crush a finger or toe, or foot if dropped or handled improperly. Hats off to them, they bust butt all day everyday. Amazing work all of you!!
Fantastic job, your team is incredible! I love the Grant almost as much as I like the Lee. As an ex-tanker (M48 and M60) I really love the idea of seven people to do all the work to keep it going.
Job well done a lot of work and effort gone into this project 🇮🇪
That grenade mesh adds a lot of character to the tank... exited to see how it look when painted 👍
Wonderful job guys! Won't be long before you have her all painted up! Wish I could be there in person to see it.
It’s looking great lads! As much as I look forward to seeing it completed, I will miss watching the Grant come back to life on Wednesdays.
Astonishing work
18:54 I was expecting him to say "Damn! just locked the keys in the tank!'
Anyone remember Tank Restoration show? Well thank you for this as you guys are just spot on!
Lu Lu Belle will look good with a fresh coat of paint. SGT. Gunn would be proud😊.
I enjoy watching the show really enjoy the tank builds guilt models and I'm 68 years old watching this gives me ideas to work on model kits
Looks awesome 👏
The Grant is coming together nicely. Great job guys, well done!
That old Grant is looking very nice, looks like your people are a good bunch. It makes the day go fast when you all get along. Can’t wait for Wednesday’s.
What an outstanding job you guys and girls do saving our history. Cheers Steve.
Wonderful that the restorers are using model 1940 genuine cordless electric impact drills to assemble the tank! :-) [I am old enough to remember that the ratchet was the latest thing in cool mechanic's tools]
I don´t really care about the vehicle, but the dedication and love to details the guys show are so fascinating, I can`t get enough episodes of the restauration.
Or the restaurant!
I was there today 😂.
Being a toolmaker I'd rather of gone through the workshop.😅
Will be back tomorrow to finish off going round the exhibits.
I made the tyre moulds for the Challenger tank, and the track links, plus a few other things that prolly can't be mentioned 😊
Thanks. I have never seen a Grant before other than in pictures. As a restorer of miltary vehicles I was glued to this series. My new found knowledge of this vehicle and its history has been great. WOW. I have wrestled some stubborn rusted parts but this takes the cake. You folks need to put bloody big feather in your cap with this build.
Fantastic. Great to see such a skilled and happy team
What excellent work AS USUAL. You guys must really love the privilege of restoring machines like this, and also contributing to our appreciation and understanding of Australian military history. Yerz are doin' us proud, boyz!
Made my Wednesday once again! Thanks guys for the awesome videos! Looking forward to seeing this old girl complete!
Incredible! Such a buzz watching all these pieces coming together. Can’t wait to get to the Museum in the next few weeks!
Thank you so much for restoring a lesser known vehicle. Great job guys keep it going!!!
If this is a state owned museum, kudos to the government for recognizing the importance of preserving and restoring their military heritage and history. If it’s private it is even more impressive!
Well, this is a private museum. Australia has a state owned tank museum, its in Puckapunyal in Victoria.
Always fun when Kurt lets his Clark Kent persona 'slip' a bit 🙂
With a cammo paint that look gorgeus
So great to see it all coming together so beautifully after all the hard work. I love your videos. No other channel shows all the detail work like you.
Surely the must be ab hydraulics guru out there that could reactivate that traverse system. Great work so far. 😊😊😊😊
Just not in Cairns though.
Maybe send to Curtis at Cutting Edge Engineering?
What a beauty she has blossomed into. Total dedication by the Aus Armour Team to getting all the details correct. Great work Lads 👍
Job welldone
The team spirit between you ALL is great to see.... even when the union inspector called lol
She's looking good!!
Can't wait for the next one!!!
great job guys! very satisfying to see an old ww2 vehicle resurrected again.
You guys are doing such a great job. I am looking forward to seeing the camo!
She is looking Awesome Gentlemen!!! Keep up the hard work!
Looking amazing! The Grant/Lee, so ugly it's beautiful!
Hello precious Australian tank hands, from the first time i saw youre time consuming projects i have never thought that anything of whats left on this earth for a puzzle restoring tank project could become one in Australia !, and all those skill,s that came by like making new or restore parts, and the natural physics of bending and deforming of metal parts and how you guys deal with that. Some how Kurt of OsAma is like the writer of a book wich i can,t stop reeding😉 very mutch respect to all of you guys in this work , i love this so much!!!!. Greetings from the Netherlands!!!
I'm in the U.S. and I have loved the LEE/GRANT Tank since watching the old movie SAHARA when I was young, I'm 72 now. Would love to see your rebuild, came to Australia on R and R from Viet-nam back in 1970. clp
Fantastic! You lads have really put your heart and soul into this build! Wonderful job! Cheers from Missouri USA
I was just remembering the rusty hulk at the beginning. Good onya Jess and Daz . I keep thinking like its a 1:1 Tamiya Kit
What amazes me when I watch these videos is not only the skill and know how of the people restoring this tank, but just how well built they were originally.
It just looks bloody better each week lads, brilliant job.
I truly do not think there are enough complimentary words to express the magnificence of this rebuild. My hat's off to all concerned.
looking forward to the painting stage
great - i will sleep better tonight - dreaming of Grant tanks hehe
tanks for that Kurt
Fantastic job, looking forward to seeing the tank completed!
I have to say - brilliant work everyone. I always look forward to the next video. Thank you for making them 👍
Any plans yet on hoe your going to paint this one? Just plain olive drab or is there aome special Aussie camo that was applies to the Grant tanks?
Its a pity it has ended, i loved the restoration along with all the issues it presented.
Great assist and camera stabilization 👍 Kurt.
Grant Tank 🇺🇲🇦🇺 outstanding team work best tank for its age .
GREAT Episode!!! Thank You Aus Armour!!!
I been looking forward to seeing it finally finished you guys put a lot of hard work into it
This video shows how fast that empty interior fills up when you put all the bits back in. Now imagine ammunition, POL products, rations, crew equipment, small arms...oh and the crew. My old M1A1 was pretty full by the time we had all four of us and its full load, and it actually had more interior room than this tank. An old M60 seemed like an apartment in comparison.
The only movie(s) I can remember with the M3 Grant being used was the two versions of Sahara. (Bogart in 1943/Belushi 1995) There are even some interior shots in the 1943 version.
Can’t wait to see it painted.👍🏻
As a soon to be 76 years old historically interested Dane, I am indeed sorry that I will never be able to see this fine Museum! But I do hope that I will be able to see you finish the "Tiger" to a running condition, so that it isn't only the Brits, in Bowington, that are able to brag about it! In the similar German Panzer Museum (Which I have visited) they only have a 1/1 "Airfix" model of one, to look at!
Amazing work fellas! Great to see the scrap heap become a working tank. Just amazing. 😎🤙🌺
Well done gentlemen now on to the next one.
WOW ! Awesome result on this classic beast of a tank.
Please test drive it on Friday when I'm there visiting 🤩
Wonderful. Only two items on my bucket list: Mt. Rushmore and Aus Armor.
Looks fantastic guys. We thank you for sharing the journey of bringing this and other tanks back to life.
So cool.. You guys do an awesome job!!!! Thanks for restoring these pieces of history for all to enjoy...
You guys really have been doing a stellar job with this build! Absolutely love the attention to detail you guys put in
What a prize to have to show off... love it.
I have one thing to say WOW great work.
I am watching this restoration from the start, you have done great job guys.
Awesome, and looking fantastic, especially with the anti-grenade mesh.
Always Outstanding video and presentation by the Australian Armour & Artillery Museum team.
Bloody-lovely. I found it much easier to build the Airfix kit when I was a child. Seeing the real deal puts things into perspective. Going behind the scenes of these museum pieces is a joy to watch. Cheers guys.
Looks great, guys. Fantastic job! Thanks for sharing with us 😊
