Very nice travel diary. While the alternative language on the menu was German (this because Strasbourg gets many tourists from Germany), the language that looks like German representing the name of a restaurant, shop, or that is part of a street name sign is Alsatian, not German. Looks similar because it's a German dialect. It's like you might find in Wales for example where you might see Welsh alongside English for names. In France, you'll find that in other regions too, like in Brittany (Breton alongside French), Nice (Niçard alongside French), in the Basque Country (Basque alongside French), in French Catalonia (Catalan alongside French), and Occitan in some places in southern France. It's mostly in the old towns you might see these bilingual street name signs, or in some villages...it's not something that is widespread, not usually.

Strasbourg is a beautiful city, definitely must visit in Christmas too. That hotel is called Arok hotel, straight infront of the main Strasbourg train station, it's very convenient and the breakfast is good. I just love that french guy playing the music box and singing, its such a lovely place to be!

    The trains are "not bad"???
And in all French hotels, breakfast was "decent"???
And, to drink Coca Cola with good food is a sin!

@@micade2518 this was my experience, the trains are better than the ones I went on in Italy and Germany and some in other french regions. As for the breakfast, yes it was good and every hotel i have been to in France, the breakfast was good

I'm English and live in Strasbourg. Never ever say it is a German city in France, you will find a lot of angry people.
It is the region of Alsace, with its own language and culture.
I'm embarrassed to think you didn't do your homework properly.

@@towera the title says "a German city in France" believe me that's enough to set off the alsaciens and is already a bad start regardless of the rest of the video.
Having lived here since 2009 I would be in a lot of trouble for saying that to my alsacien friends and there are people who would beat me up for it.
Maybe a change in the title is advisable...

@wearemysticking says the English person who judged an entire video based on a title, a hypothetical question aswel on the title?
