I felt I should have subtitled this video 'The video where I discovered I have problems saying baptistry'! For English speakers č is pronounced like the English 'ch' sound so the town is called 'Porech' not 'Porek'. Bilingual signs will also list the Italian name of Parenzo.
@@durian4209 Thank you, but I did have to delete the voice over quite a few times when I discovered I couldn't pronounce 'baptistry' correctly. It took a bit of practise!
Loved visiting the Euphrasian Basilica with you. Enjoyed seeing Baptistry with both the old pool and newer font. Gorgeous views from the top of the Bell Tower and I enjoyed seeing the wood ceilings as you were going up. The Bells both historic and lovely are sure to attract! 😁😁The Basilica is stunning inside! Beautiful things can come in small packages. Such fine detail. I love the artwork, architecture, mosaic tile and the tomb of Saint Mauris . Thanks so much for this beautiful tour.
Poreč's allure goes beyond the summer sun and sea, revealing a captivating history! 🏰 Loved the journey through the Euphrasian Basilica - the mosaics are breathtaking! 😍 The views from the Bell Tower are truly spectacular, and the architectural designs are fascinating. Thanks for taking us on this visual feast of Croatia's gems! 🇭🇷👀
Poreč is lovely, I have family that live there and it's been a tourist town since the early 20th century but really interesting to see all the development and restoration work that's been happening in the last 20 years.
This UNESCO site looks and sounds wonderful, especially the Basilica, so beautiful with great views over the area. Such interesting history and the mosaics were gorgeous showing Jesus and his disciples. That was fabulous :) ~ Anna
I think the things that amazes me most about those mosaics over the altar is how old they are, they have been restored I can vaguely remember seeing them when they weren't quite so shiny because of centuries of candle smoke darkening them. They are stunning now.
It's a lovely area with some great historical sites, that part of Croatia was ruled by a series of different civilisations who all left their mark. The Adriatic Sea setting is also wonderful. Thanks for watching!
It's a very popular vacation spot for northern Europeans to come for a beach holiday. The population of Poreč and the surrounding area triples during the summer months. But the old town is really interesting and completely empty during the day as everyone is at the beach!
Lovely visit to the basilica and the Bishops House. We did visit Porec on one occasion but have never returned to this part of the coast. Best wishes from Nottingham.
The Istrian peninsula is well worth exploring, Poreč is quite small but it's a nice base for day trips to other nearby towns, it's directly opposite Venice so there's even day trips to Venice by boat. Apparently on a very clear day you can see Venice, I never have! Thanks for watching!
Apologies this one slipped by us! Wow we have been told before how beautiful Croatia is! After seeing this it’s definitely climbed our to do list! It’s really pretty with lots of interesting history! Thanks for taking us along have a great week ahead 👍❤
Croatia is really lovely, the area I'm most familiar with is the northern part, the peninsula of Istria (part of it is in Slovenia so when you visit you get 2 countries 20minutes apart!) Poreč is quite small but a nice base for exploring the area as thanks to years of different groups of people controlling the peninsula they all left their mark, it was part of the Venetian Republic for 300 years, and then Austria for another 300. So you get pasta, sauercraut and strudel as local dishes!

Well no problem to understand, clear and beautiful voice 🍡
