Could trist not have forced the crash just by walking up with thresh and killing you if you try to deny the freeze? Also why is aph basing here anyway when trist is really low and we can just crash and bounce the wave before basing? If the wave crashes here, doesn't us not basing end up being a really negative tempo play?
Exactly right! The main thing to consider here is that even though that is the correct play, not all players will do it. We need to be ready to take opportunities if presented to us and be adaptable to any circumstances we find ourselves in. As for why Aphelios recalled, I would guess he thought he had crashed the previous wave and was good to recall. It could also have been a item spike recall BUT as you have pointed out, it’s not a good recall. As for the last part, I’m not exactly sure what you mean, but what we could have done was to shove that incoming wave in the video and then recalled after that one, since the wave would bounce back. Aphelios mistook his first wave crash as a good crash but didn’t consider the next wave. For reference this was a gold to platinum game (from memory)
