I am jealous, I never got the chance for shop classes when I was in high school, and now I have a full wood shop. Years ago, a woman who restored antique books came to me to see if I could make a "book cradle". This was for one of her customers. It was made to sit at about 30 degrees off of horizontal, had a flat for the spine, a lip to keep the book from sliding off due to gravity, and wings set at another 30 or so degrees so the book didn't open out flat which would put stress on the spine of the book. She said they were common for old family bibles and dictionaries. Don't see many dictionaries any more.... Have fun! Oh, don't get a lathe..... I have 6....
You started young as a woodworker. I am jealous! I had to wait til I was 70 to be able to learn woodworking. I have had my company for 4 years. You are very skilled and have much to be proud of. Your demo was well done and I really appreciated that you admitted ❤️ when you misjudged. Most people try to cover it up. It shows great maturity at your age. You have a grand future and wonderful talent. Congrats!
3:16, I agree with this, much easier. Have you ever tried using the end of a metal ruler to carefully scrape off the excess glue that gets stuck in the 90 degree corners where the rags cant reach?
Better yet… take a plastic drinking straw and make an angle cut on one end with a pair of scissors. Run that leading edge point in the seam of your glue line and all the excess glue runs up the straw.
Great stuff! I’m gonna make this. Thanks man

That’s a good idea! I’ve used nails and stuff like that before but I’ll have to give that a try!

Great video! But some sizes would be beneficial. Lengths, widths etc
