I met Mr Hayes back during the Musicology tour as he was leaving the after party show in Tampa, Fl it was really cool because it was the first time I got to see Prince up close it was a really once in a lifetime meeting! He was was friendly and shook my hand! It was One of those moments in your life you never forget!
Love you NPG and 3reyedgirl, don't ever stop playing, you are the very best. Prince was so blessed to have such fine muscians he i know he is looking down a proud smile. Hope to get an opportunity see you at concert if you ever on tour and come to D.C. area. God bless you all. RIP Prince, we love you.
Michael b is one of the most amazing musicians you will ever see and here in your life. He is absolutely beautiful, his form is perfect his feet are beautiful, just an amazing talent. I am so happy that I got to watch this video and see Michael b. I just love the band but the drummer he really sticks out, like I said he is beautiful!!!!!!!
So, I wonder if these guys and the Revolution will ever get together and do something, kind of like old school and new school bands coming together for a massive Prince tribute concert. This would be pretty cool, y'all.
Lots to say, Skip if you don't care for soliloquies. This is an amazing collection of talent in one room/stage. Mad love to all the muso that grinded and put in the work to perform a great show. I was there and it was pretty cool. Thank you to some of my fav musicians. Sonny T, Michael B, Morris, Barbarella, Levi!!! Mike Scott, Gouche, "Donna (Love we make @ Montreux - solo was $$$)" Highlights of 'my' night, The Time - although :( bad sound & it was too short, Mint Condition - America & DMSR, Tori Kelly - surprisingly amazing. Jessie J - kills it every time. Stevie tearing up. Bobby Z - Speech, Mayte Dance, Twinz Dance. The bass quintet. Doug E Fresh. Chaka was cool. The dude that sang Do Me Baby & TMBGIW. Sadly with the good also comes the not so good. What's up with Andre Cymone? Sorry i gotta tell the truth, he was weak as F. I was so damn pissed i wanted to take that damn mic out his hands. The Ladder - a poignant song of the evening which is in his register should of been fire. Was Not! That choir and Mavis/Rosie Gaines lady made up for it at the end though. Mike Scott comps on that tune was a bunch of deliciousness. Missing some key players on this tribute Eric Leeds, Atlanta Bliss, Maceo, Rhonda, Candy, Chance, Jesse Johnson, Renato Neto, J Blackwell, The Family. I know I'm forgetting some but that would of made my night to see the whole cartel come together. And in my Rick James voice from BET awards "nevermind who you thought i was" To the lady that forgot the words!!? To the lady that forgot the words, after boring me to death for 10 minutes of some Portuguese song u fumble on the lyrics? Coming from a critic that loves Brazilian music that was foul! You play a 10 min set that i don't give a hell about but then butcher the lyrics to Little Red Corvette. I guarantee there were downstage monitors with lyrics. Girl seemed lost. She is lucky Morris resolved & ended that thing quick. That was a bitter pill to swallow. Move your ass downstage so you can see the teleprompter. No excuses for that. She didn't know the tune. Finally, thank you for not butchering Purple Rain and just playing along to his vocal track. That was brilliant.
From what I saw from the 2017 Revolution Reunion shows, they are like a ship without its captain. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they aren't doing their best but it all rattles, Wendy doesn't have a strong enough voice to do the lead vocals and her lead playing is not up to par with what she tries to do justice. The NPG on the other hand take to this with a much deeper level, they have Morris taking the helm, steering the whole deal and while the Revolution is trying to perform the songs true to the original recordings, the NPG take it to another level, their take on "the beautiful ones" for example sounds nothing like the original version but that's not the intention.
Actually this mega-NPG-hybrid is playing very much like the early 90s NPG would of played Prince's songs, including the Hornheads. So this NPG SOUNDS like the NPG of the early nineties when THIS NPG was playing those Prince songs, exactly like it. You need to listen closer and consider the same kind of thing with The Revolution. And this may actually be why Prince kept moving on to new bands, to keep things fresh and move on to a new sound. .::Modernaire
Pfff, the bariton sax on Girls And Boys from 2:58 on, only 5 notes need to be played in the groove and 2 of them are wrong! ... smh ... it's one of the most iconic signature things you can play on this song and then mess it up??? This bariton sax player probably never heard the original song ...
Prince gave Shelby to much of the spotlight. I could not hear prince when Shelby sang. Her voice always drowned out princes voice. I want to see and hear prince not Shelby.
I've said the same thing about Shelby for years! She's a spotlight hog. She did drown Princes vocals out. Personally, I never cared for her one bit and never will. She's riding the _money_ _train_ every chance she gets. Shelby hung out with Mayte and it's on video with Shelby acting so damn fake and her pretending like her and Mayte are so close. Shelby sensationalized her part in the band with Prince and her talking about all of the ' _one_ _on_ _one_ ' time they spent together talking about this or that....very doubtful. Prince always juggled so many things and I just do _not_ see Prince spending his down time with, ' _hog_ _the_ _mic_ ' Shelby talking about life and business.
I am sorry but Michael Bland, Sonny Thompson b4 any one in that band and sonny has been with Prince the longest they grew up together prince learned his skills from sonny
I can't even imagine how this is for them to be doing all this without P. I'm getting emotional just watching them and thinking about them not being with P.
It is a beautiful to see Prince living through these guys.
This is just awesome I love NPG...I miss Prince so much .. he created so much greatness , you are missed

The opening funk song is really, funky.
I dig the horns section, and the lady with gapped tooth,
That shit is gonna be as tight as a musquito's behind....
Cool!
Right on!
Was at paisley park on tour with (Now Fantastic Negrito) and met the entire band. Morris is cool people and a beast on the keys.
Sonny T rockin' the navy blue Chucks, while completely _obliterating_ a bassline! *Go head on!*

TELL ME ONE RIGHTEOUS THING OUR/YOUR GENERATION HAS DONE.
ANITA Wolfe my generation invented biscuits.

0:13
Is that the size of Levi now??
Jesus.
"You Chunky Motherfuckerrrr"
What's he eaten? Michael B?
MORRIS HAYES GOT ALL DA JUICE!!!!! Look at ALL THE PEOPLE standing beside him. THEY SOUND BETTER THAN THE REVOLUTION reunited. Sorry, but true.....
wow why didn't Michael B do any shows?
PRINCE SAYS THEY ARE LOSING MONEY FROM HIS MUSIC
Its so hard to replace 0(> Seems like he is irreplaceable

Morris Hayes is the coolest. What r they doing? So paltry to play princes music, Make new music!

With all due respect, I hear nothing here that puts me in a "Prince" mode. What am I missing???
Prince gave Shelby to much of the spotlight. I could not hear prince when Shelby sang. Her voice always drowned out princes voice. I want to see and hear prince not Shelby.
