Yeah Jack said in an interview ages ago that he thought they'd be sampled by now. Now there'll be no question about it! Totally going to chop this out of the WAV when it's released. He'll probably even do a multitrack release

As far as I know, it's really just a reference to something Jack Stratton says at the end of the song "Cory Wong" on the album Beautiful Game when he's talking about and complimenting the Bunker's jam in Minneapolis weekly performances with Cory Wong, Michael Bland, and Sonny T. One could argue that the musicians in this video must be playing at low volume in order to all be in the same room without bleeding into each other's mics too much, and to be able to hear each other clearly. I think the general idea is this music is "musical" and balanced with "low volume" subtleties; it's not in your face with a loud synth or vocal lead, etc.. At least that's my idea. I could be totally wrong. Maybe somebody else in the comments can help explain it better. The best person to ask would be Jack Stratton.

That drum solo made me laugh with delight like a child witnessing something really cool that they can't quite comprehend... It's like, you know something special is happening and you know it's RIGHT, but you cannot explain why because it's out of reach for you... But to see that someone else has enough mastery to make it happen, that's just awesome.
Michael Bland is the most solid in-the-pocket drummer that is alive today... what an absolute beast. I love session guys generally, but this dude can play simple stuff and it sounds incredible. Josh Freese (the best?) could not play this with such nuance. So much style and flavor. If you're hating on this, you are letting the whole world know how musically ignorant you are. One more time with the drum break...
Couldn't agree more. I'm a Bassist and I know one thing for certain. I'm only as good as the drummer I'm playing with. So what ever you do, make sure your drummer is on point. Prince new what was up with the drummer. Mr Blackwell wasn't bad either. O(+>

Don't forget drum triggers, they're not evil. They can make a recording go from tight to jaw dropping. Even a small sub osc on the snare trigger is enough to make some of the most insane drum tracks.
