Thank you for the Meet Up link. I went to the website and I was able to find several meet ups by my area. Thank you so much.

Do you think artists today spend too much time talking and thinking about art versus doing the real hard work of completed pieces?
I watch so much content and i'm always just 'sketching' and i'm starting to feel like a permanent beginner 😐

I think people tend to get sucked into over thinking. Whether it be trying to find the perfect brush, or best teacher, there’s always a reason to wait.
It’s part of the reason I recommend people just start trying to doing something at whatever level they’re at

I have a Hayao Miyazaki quote I'd like you to read, @aberwood .
Working hard should be a matter of course. Our line of work is filled with people who work hard but are no good as human beings. Placing value on the act of working hard is an incredible mistake.

Working hard, it’s just something you do. If you don’t, nothing worthwhile will come about.
Thinking about that, some people can’t sleep at night. But that’s a matter of course too. At times like that, I know that encouragement from other people, or comfort and consolidation, aren’t any help at all. It’s all on you. In those moments, can you forgive yourself? Some people can forgive themselves easily, and some people can’t.
That’s a difference that separates the fates of those two types of people. People who can easily forgive themselves don’t do very good work

I 100% agree with Kristian, don't overthink art. It's a lifetime pursuit to master it, but in reality it's quite simple (not easy) to get good. All you need is A. A general passion/direction for your work. It can be anything, mine was making NSFW art. B. A good grasp on fundamentals. You should find ways to practice these, whether via courses, books or videos. Your ability to create beyond copying what you see is dependent on these skills. and C. a consistent practice. Having those things (or at least working towards having all 3) is what allowed me to go from beginner to making art my main source of income.
All 3 feed into one another, and when you have all 3 (or sometimes even just 2), you'll find that finishing pieces and improving will just come naturally. Best of all, as you go, you'll find even more cracks to fill, so you'll always know what to work on to improve. Just stop overthinking it, you don't need the best brush, the best teacher, the best curriculum, all you need is to hit the gas.
