Monk Synopsis: Adrian Monk (Emmy®-winner Tony Shalhoub) was once a rising star with the San Francisco Police Department, legendary for using unconventional means to solve the department's most baffling cases. But after the tragic and still-unsolved murder of his wife, Trudy, the devastated Monk becomes obsessive-compulsive. His psychological disorder has caused him to develop an abnormal fear of virtually everything: germs, heights, crowds... even milk. Monk's condition costs him his job, but he's back as a police consultant despite the unique challenges he encounters in his everyday life. These challenges lead Monk to hire a personal nurse, Sharona Fleming (Bitty Schram), who is always there to offer her assistance, even with the simplest of tasks (like organizing his sock drawer). Her less-than-subtle prodding keeps the "defective detective" on track in his investigations, as well as in his efforts to convince Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) to allow him to return to the force.

I remember being bothered by the fact that they said this was his 100th case when in a previous episode they established he solved over 100 cases (and Natalie and Julie got him trophies for each)

I was more bothered by the fact that they brought back that guy that killed Randy’s uncle who interviewed as if Monk caught him when in the episode Monk makes Randy think he solved it so he would return to the police

He solved 99 cases as a private investigator prior to this opening. Natalie and Julie could have included cases from his police work.

I always love when they list off Monk’s phobias and they have to go between Natalie, Stottlemeyer and Randy since there are so many.😅
Also, I can believe Adrian changed his own diaper.😉

The one major issue that I have with the episode in which Adrian reconciles with his & Ambrose's father is that there wasn't an extra scene at the end involving Ambrose reuniting with their father. It would have given Ambrose major closure and his agoraphobia might have gone away. It's still a really good episode though and the ending, with Adrian riding the bike that his dad just gave to him while his dad encourages him, is very touching.

@@Optimegatrongodzilla good point. Turturro did a terrific job with Ambrose! He’s now playing the ghost of Don Falcone in The Penguin.

Mr Monk is an amazing show, it manages to give a positive representation of people with mental disorder. There are a lot of prejudices against people with autism and other mental problems, sadly. A lot of films and movies show them as evil or dangerous. For people suffering from mental problems monk is an inspiration, because he is not a criminal, he is not the bad guy, he is actualy the hero. This show helps a lot to increase empathy for people like monk, helps to bring understanding for people like him. I have always seen this show as a little kid with my parents. I think mental problems are a big problem in society. They are often seen as shamefull. Monk was never shown as a perfect person, or a superhero, no, in a way, he was very normal, the monk movie was very touching for me, I do not cry a lot for movies or tv shows, but Monk is a story we need in our modern age. His doctor is always shown in a positive way, mental health care is important, but all characters in "Monk" are so likeable, the way they evolved, it was very well written. As a person with ptsd and mental problems, I can say Monk always was an inspiration for me, he was going through hell, but he always stayed strong and helped so many people. I found the humor very heartfelt. Thank you for this show.

I feel personally attacked by the episode “Mr.Monk buys a house” I am very mad that Joseph got murder when he was pushed down the stairs, he just wanted his hat. You need to remove this episode and replace it with that woman who murdered him giving him his hat.
