Subsonics aren't lightweight. They're heavier to compensate for the fact that they're moving slower. 9mm fmj is usually between 115 and 130 grains at an average velocity of around 1250fps. Subsonics are always heavier, usually between 145 and 150 grains and travelling at approximately 1050fps. 9mm also isn't a "small" caliber.
Changes aside Prime got this one right, much better than the terrible movie adaptations. Kind of surprised season 2 has taken so long. The books are great and it was nice to finally see a faithful adaptation.
I do love how people think it’s impossible to not be on the government’s radar or in a government system somewhere. As long as you don’t get into trouble, don’t touch social media, don’t drive but take a bike or pay in cash for taxis and buses. You can literally go anywhere and everywhere in the US with ease. As all you really need to go anywhere is a social security number, prepaid phone which you can fill back up with cash(depending on the phone you get). You can get a passport for international travel with just your social security and birth certificate. Just need the money, of which you can pay in cash. So yeah, anyone can travel like Reacher and exist off the grid so to speak. It just takes effort and willingness to never touch social media, or at least never own social media yourself but use your friend’s social media or use Internet cafes(which are rare in the US) or other solutions like a library computer. Anyone can do it, just not many people are capable of doing it.
145+ gain 9mm is often loaded subsonic. 95 grain is lighter than the standard 115 grain loading (which is supersonic), so its unlikely to be used with a suppressor.
Alan Ritchson could easily play a younger version of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin. The way they talk and their mannerisms are very similar plus they look pretty identical in the face although their physiques are completely different.
The problem with this interrogation is that the police investigator is spilling his guts about what evidence they have. I don't think that's the usual approach to interrogating a subject. Or a good one. Everything else is terrific.
@@RUclipsallowedmynametobestolen , it’s a drama, not a documentary. The scene provides the audience with all of the crime scene details in a few minutes. It establishes the plot line and two main characters for the rest of the show. It’s a very common dramatic device for crime shows. Too bad you don’t know anything about script writing.
There was a study done. Interviewing ER doctors and reviewing their notes. Anything that happened before 4am was always referred to as “last night”, and after 4am is “this morning”.
the only annoying thing for me is sub-sonic 9mm is 157 grain, not 95. the 95 grain projectiles are usually lead-free, and go fast. Like 1400 fps out of a pistol and nearly 1800 from a PCC
I disagree with Reacher's assertion that "this morning" starts at 12:00am. That time is called midnight, not because it's the beginning of the morning, but because it's the middle of the night. By some reckonings, it's the beginning of the night, with evening lasting through 11:59:59pm. When does morning start? I'd say it starts at dawn, but if you need a consistent time, I'd pick 6am. The "am" has nothing to do with whether or not it's morning; it just means "ante meridian", or before midday. Maybe Reacher is referring to some agreed upon convention that investigators use, but I don't think his opinion is in agreement with common sense outside of that possibility.
Except for fact that Reacher is right, in investigations details do in fact matter. For the purposes of investigations and report writing, AM denotes morning. I can say I speak from some experience here, as I worked in the security field for many years, made a few citizens arrests, and gave evidence in court. One mistep on a small detail like that and defense lawyers start wondering what else you may have skipped over. You're free to disagree all you want but is this really something worth nitpicking about?
@Arasteele - so it sounds like this is some specific context that redefines words for a specific purpose. That's fine, and maybe it's a given based on the context of Reacher's discussion in the clip, but in other contexts he would just be wrong in saying that. So the arrogant tone he takes seems a bit ironic to me, under the circumstances. So in this context, if "AM" equates to "morning", what does "PM" equate to? "Non-morning?" "Afternoon?" "Evening?" "Night?" (genuinely asking) I'm not aware of any obvious label that wouldn't feel odd at certain times of day.
Great show. Detail missed: 95gr could be subsonic, but unlikely. Heavier bullet of 147gr would very likely be subsonic. Firearms can emit a certain amt of energy, and thats a bigger bullet traveling more slowly or a smaller bullet traveling faster. 95gr is the light end of 9mm bullets, 147gr the heavier end, therefore heavier likely to be slower, and probably slow enough to be subsonic.
95gr with a standard powder load would be hella fast. Definitely not subsonic unless hand loaded very light. Still a great show, looking forward to Season 2.
@3:42 you can someone the cameraperson moving via the reflection in the TV. at first, i thought it was just something moving in the background, then realized it's just a reflection.
I'm not sure if I didn't get something right, but why is Reacher suggesting that a 95 grain 9mm bullet has to be subsonic? Subsonic in general does require heavier bullets, for 9mm normally 140 or 150 grain, otherwise it would require way less powder, which could lead to uneven firing in the 9mm. Not sure if they really didn't think about that, but it's actually quite easy to understand if you think about the physics for a second
95grain 9mm bullets…. Every subsonic round I’ve used is heavier! Basic physics. Yes, you download(or change powder), but you use a heavier bullet in order to slow it down…!
Hell yes, there is a great RUclips vid by a law professor who invited a police detective in to do a lecture on why you “do not talk to the police” - it’s was epically interesting
Actually, ( 4:39 ) phone companies have systems and staff set up to respond to warrants and other law enforcement requests. And of course, they charge for each request. From what I've heard, they are about as good as the companies regular support phone staff, so, yea, he might be there for awhile.
When I worked for a service provider we had an unwritten arrangement with State law enforcement - we would give them the info first, then if it panned out, they got a warrant to get it officially.
@@ukestudio3002 either way a heavier projectile is used not lighter for subsonic. Yes 22 is lighter in general but when subsonic is the goal it simply means a heavier projectile for whatever caliber is being used. There are super and sub 22 rounds just like for any other caliber
The 9mm was probably a .380 possibly or a 9mm Makarov because it was a 95gr. The 95gr is light for a 9mm Luger round and doesn't mean it was a subsonic because the bullet is light in mass. Since it was a light 9mm 95gr bullet it was more than likely a supersonic bullet. A 9mm bullet for subsonic would probably be a 147gr or 124gr bullet in 9mm Luger since it was supposedly a 9mm. A 9mm subsonic 95gr bullet would probably lack sufficient power to cycle the slide on a semiautomatic pistol. There are .380 revolvers however there would not be a gas seal between the cylinder and the barrel's forcing cone and the firing revolver would leak expanding gas and would make a noise so rule out a revolver.
95 grains is not a subsonic round. The first way to make a subsonic load is to use a heavier bullet since they travel slower. The most common target load for 9mm bullets is 115 grains, but a heavier bullet of 147 grains will be subsonic. The other way is to reduce the powder load. Decreasing the amount of propellant in the cartridge means the bullet will be moving slower when it exits the barrel.
"tall people never have room for their feet" BRO, YES! I'm not even Adonis status like our boy Reacher, but my goddamn comforter on my bed is like perfectly 6'x6' and I'm about 6' tall and I'm the paranoid sort that needs the boanket tucked under my feet so the demon under my bed doesn't devour my exposed footses, so I'm perpetually scrunching myself up into a ball to sleep and I end up with back pain because it turns out you're not supposed to resemble a potato chip when you sleep
95 grain is not a typical subsonic 9mm load, that's a very supersonic projectile unless it's a needlessly weak hand-load. 145+ grain or heavier is where you start to see subsonic ballistics.
The detective was reading Reacher's service record from the Army. The officer was trying to find Reacher online as a civilian....and was never going to find anything.
This man is so much more believable as Reacher than Tom Cruise. I could never come to terms with such a short Jack Reacher when in the novels he's portrayed as 6'5" and heavily built, Tom Cruise is 5'7" and slight of build. They hire other actors that are short so it's not so noticeable.
@@Avgslaveworkerthat’s a great point.! Everyone seems to believe the only criterion for a good Reacher, is size. I read the books after and found movie much better !

9mm fmj is usually between 115 and 130 grains at an average velocity of around 1250fps.
Subsonics are always heavier, usually between 145 and 150 grains and travelling at approximately 1050fps.
9mm also isn't a "small" caliber.
Anything smaller than .50 is small caliber, Stud.
Hollywood is so stupid when it comes to anything involving firearms. So many writers are too lazy to Google.
It can remove a lung after all
Yes. Writers did simple research and REACHED the wrong conclusion. 147 grain is 9.5 grams. They mistook that for 95 grains.
@@saxonsoldier67or they confused it for 9mm short (.380) which can be subsonic at 95-100 grains
Changes aside Prime got this one right, much better than the terrible movie adaptations. Kind of surprised season 2 has taken so long. The books are great and it was nice to finally see a faithful adaptation.
There was a writers strike, followed by an actors strike. That causes delays.
In one sentence they say the only proof he exists is that he's sitting in the room. The very next line is the detective reading his entire biography.
man this is a great show can't wait for season 2
NEED SEASON 2 PLEASE!!!!
Hopefully I can squeeze it in before they start adding the Ads, that is when I drop Prime.
I will never unsee Thad Castle
One of the best series I've ever seen
I just love this series! Alan and Malcolm are such great actors!
if there is two things reacher loves is fights and food
Can't forget, the integrity of speaking the truth ❤💯🤲
I need a season 2 and 3, I cant binge if there aren’t episodes to binge 😪
95 grain 9mm are not subsonic. 147s are typically your subs.

Such an amazing show they can’t even get that right
Having no facebook, snapchat, instagram, mortgage or insurance claim sounds like an absolute dream
The only proof that jack reacher exists is the fact that his sitting in that room... ❤
That ... and his military ID and military record.

The way they talk and their mannerisms are very similar plus they look pretty identical in the face although their physiques are completely different.
astoundedly good series; they were all amazing. I hope they come up with even more seasons
The problem with this interrogation is that the police investigator is spilling his guts about what evidence they have. I don't think that's the usual approach to interrogating a subject. Or a good one.
Everything else is terrific.
The investigator thinks the local hicks overreacted to a big stranger in town.
Do us a favour. Never try to write a script.
@@garywagner2466 Yes, heaven forbid there were to be a script writer who writes realistic dialogue.
@@RUclipsallowedmynametobestolen , it’s a drama, not a documentary. The scene provides the audience with all of the crime scene details in a few minutes. December.
Invincible and the boys are also good shows on amazon.
They also have Vox Machina
For all of you who "wants a season 2" it was announced pretty early after the success of season 1 that season 2 would be coming.
Such a good series! Can't wait for season two, tomorrow!
There was a study done. Interviewing ER doctors and reviewing their notes. Anything that happened before 4am was always referred to as “last night”, and after 4am is “this morning”.
Maybe that's why they are always running late.
sounds like something you made up just now
the only annoying thing for me is sub-sonic 9mm is 157 grain, not 95. the 95 grain projectiles are usually lead-free, and go fast. Like 1400 fps out of a pistol and nearly 1800 from a PCC
147 grain.
@markmills344 100% correct. As it was 8 months ago, I don't know if it was a typo or old timers.
Yes. Writers did simple research and REACHED the wrong conclusion. 147 grain is 9.5 grams. They mistook that for 95 grains.
"Non-morning?" "Afternoon?" "Evening?" "Night?" (genuinely asking)
I'm not aware of any obvious label that wouldn't feel odd at certain times of day.
@@dagman85 Post meridiem
@richard6440 - thanks for the correction! That makes more sense
Why in gods name wasn’t this man considered for the roll in the Reacher films
Alan wasn't a Producer on the films. Tom was. You want to star, one way is to pay to make the film.
Why would such a good actor audition to play the part of a sliced piece of bread that holds the contents of a sandwich?
Can’t wait for 12/15!!! Season 2 begins
95 grain 1300fps thats super sonic

@3:42 you can someone the cameraperson moving via the reflection in the TV. at first, i thought it was just something moving in the background, then realized it's just a reflection.
That's reacher lol
I'm not sure if I didn't get something right, but why is Reacher suggesting that a 95 grain 9mm bullet has to be subsonic? Subsonic in general does require heavier bullets, for 9mm normally 140 or 150 grain, otherwise it would require way less powder, which could lead to uneven firing in the 9mm. Not sure if they really didn't think about that, but it's actually quite easy to understand if you think about the physics for a second
they should have asked Dirty Harry

95grain 9mm bullets…. Every subsonic round I’ve used is heavier! Basic physics. Yes, you download(or change powder), but you use a heavier bullet in order to slow it down…!

95 grain 9mm is not subsonic. (About 1100 fps near sea level) Generally 9mm below 147 grains is supersonic.

Actually, ( 4:39 ) phone companies have systems and staff set up to respond to warrants and other law enforcement requests. And of course, they charge for each request. From what I've heard, they are about as good as the companies regular support phone staff, so, yea, he might be there for awhile.
When I was in law enforcement, it varied depending on which service provider you were dealing with. AT&T was always the best and the quickest.
When I worked for a service provider we had an unwritten arrangement with State law enforcement - we would give them the info first, then if it panned out, they got a warrant to get it officially.
Well now im just going to have to watch the first season all over again. Thanks a lot!
If you want subsonic you would use heavier projectiles. A lighter one would increase velocity above sonic levels
I believe historically, the preference for agents was a subsonic .22 caliber at close range.
@@ukestudio3002 .32ACP was the ideal choice for OSS during WWII for covert missions often with the use of the Welrod silenced pistol.
@@ukestudio3002 either way a heavier projectile is used not lighter for subsonic. Yes 22 is lighter in general but when subsonic is the goal it simply means a heavier projectile for whatever caliber is being used. There are super and sub 22 rounds just like for any other caliber

great show both seasons - hope there is a third one
Amazing show and perfect actors!

This is the very best show I have seen in a long time. I just finished season 2 and hope there will be a season 3.
Was hoping we'd get to see him sooner than later 😊❤
95 grains is not a subsonic round. The first way to make a subsonic load is to use a heavier bullet since they travel slower. The most common target load for 9mm bullets is 115 grains, but a heavier bullet of 147 grains will be subsonic. The other way is to reduce the powder load. Decreasing the amount of propellant in the cartridge means the bullet will be moving slower when it exits the barrel.

BRO, YES!
The detective is reading out Reacher's record in extreme detail then we cut to this woman saying "there's no record of this guy existing". What ?

Season 2 can not come fast enough.
But you can’t tell without looking up his exact size so who cares and what difference does it make?
@@Avgslaveworkerthat’s a great point.! Everyone seems to believe the only criterion for a good Reacher, is size. I read the books after and found movie much better !
@@AvgslaveworkerBecause in the first movie, as in the book One Shot, we are supposed to believe that he looks like someone who could kill a girl with one punch. Not saying someone of Cruise's build couldn't with knowledge of anatomy and practice, but the whole point is that book Reacher looks like he could do it and movie Reacher doesn't.
Lookout , you'll be accused of shortism.
@@Avgslaveworker Because Reachers massive size is a plot point a great many times. Cruise played a good character as normal and the Cruise Reacher was a good movie, the first one at least. However, that in no way stops Alan Ritchson from being a far better Reacher and his size is a key reason. His acting is another, he may not be the actor Cruise is but he is more than good enough to flesh out Reacher.
