Reacher stepped over the line with the wife comment, so you had a powder keg moment. She realized they were two good people about to do something bad, so she diffused the situation.

As good a job as Tom Cruise did playing A character named Jack Reacher, Tom Cruise is NOT Jack Reacher. Alan Ritchson is vastly closer to the character described in the books. And he's much colder, like the book version.

While they don’t know each other as well as they should, Jack and Joe are very, very good at understanding how the other thinks. Joe lured Jack here with the story of Blind Blake, knowing he’d be able to pick up in the not-unlikely event of his death
