    Very impressed by you figuring out a pattern. Im heading to Eloika on Tuesday, can you give me any good ideas what to throw?

    • @Hickology
      @Hickology  3 года назад +1

      Hey buddy, i RARELY fish eloika honestly. but if i were go there and fish I would most likely throw a swim jig or chatter bait and try and catch some fish up shallow. Good luck!

    When you talk about the birds nest, that's right in front of my friends house. I have fished from those docks several times and never caught a bass over 1/2lb. :-) I can't quite cast to those reeds though. Might have to take the paddle boat out next time. Keep up the good work!

      I usually start around the flooded timber and go from there working my way to the shallow side of the lake.

    Hi Gordy I fish rage bug a lot and the problem I have is losing fish. I have used several types. What do you use on the standard Rage bug.

    • @roncunningham389
      @roncunningham389 3 года назад

      That’s hooks etc.

    • @Hickology
      @Hickology  3 года назад +1

      When you're losing fish are you not getting the hookset or are they shaking you once they are hooked? When I'm flipping the rage bugs I use a 3/0 or 4/0 VMC heavy duty EWG hook. I like those over top of the standard EWG because they are MUCH more stout. I also ALWAYS peg my weight with a bobber stop and 99% of the time I'm using a 1/2oz tungsten flipping weight. When I'm flipping I use a 7'3 Heavy X-Fast rod although a 7' Heavy is more that sufficient as well. When you flip into cover i like to jig it up and down a couple times, when you lift up and feel the weight of a fish, reel down and then set hook HARD. you gotta make sure you can pop the weight through its lips to drive the hook in. Ive set hook gingerly before and fought the fish for a couple seconds and lost the fish. Reel in and realize the hook never went through the plastic so the fish had the weight in its mouth and when I set hook it never penetrated. Since then, I really jack them with the hook set. Sorry for the long reply LOL

      Thanks for getting back to me I think I’m going to change hooks and I have been using a bobber stop little lighter than you are used three eights tungsten and I was using a EWG Gama so I’m going to get a little heavier and get a little bit more aggressive thanks for your input greatly appreciate it

      @@Hickology same to you brother...and I believe you...we all make temporary lapses in otherwise good judgment. I was 22 years Navy...and have been bad with pfd use at times. Whether rushed, or lazy...or just no good excuse.
      Just want you safe...and to go on fishing those donks! Love the content!
