Jango's armor and undersuit were gray and blue = Mourning a lost love / Reliability.
Boba's old armor is a combination of green, with red around the visor, waist, and forearms, and the gold marks, kneepads, and shoulder armor, with a gray undersuit, and a white shirt under the torso armor = Duty / Honoring a parent / Vengeance / Mourning a lost love / A new start.
Boba's new armor is a combination of green, with red around the visor and the marks now red, and the gold shoulder armor, with a black undersuit = Duty / Honoring a parent / Vengeance / Justice.
The fact that he still wears the gold shoulder armor shows that, no, he is not done, and likely never will be, with his desire for vengeance. However, the change of the marks on the helmet from gold to red shows that he no longer kills to avenge his father, but rather he is trying to live up to his father's moral code as a bounty hunter.

Interesting. I always assumed the marks were how many jedi/people he had captured or killed. WIth incorporating the colors we realize that before he was Orange/yellow AND Red. I wonder what, exactly, changing the color of his kills represent and why they different. Maybe the helmet was honoring his father by following in his footsteps, so red?
Which possibly means that he was wearing the uniform to honor his father and *maybe* his general attempts to be a useuful bounty hunter......but before his captures and kills were for himself........i.e. he was got some sort of emotional pleasure or satisfaction from it. He is basically acknowledging that These people are dead/captured cause I wanted them to be so MORE than he wanted to honor his father.
However older Bobaet has changed makes them red, because his perspective has changed. He no longer has personal pleasure/satisfaction for those kills but doing it still honored his father because bounty hunting was his fathers job. Thoughts?

Meeting Luke and finding new respect for each other would have knocked this out of the park. But instead, they don’t know what to do with Fett and Din Djarin is a bounty hunter who’s never heard of Fett and even has a custom carbon freezer on his ship. But never heard of Fett.
Remember looking forward to that finale and thinking Fett would get some amazing action scenes? But instead, he just ducks out to go promote his own show, but they definitely didn’t want him crossing paths with Luke without something amazing transpiring from it.

Or maybe whoever in the costume department decided it would just be easier going forward, to cover up the old damaged paint job that was inconsistent with a more damaged version of the ROTJ armour, and replacing the yellow stripes with red had about as much to do with lore as the inconsistencies between ESB and ROTJ versions of the costume, which made more sense from a production standpoint based on the respective settings he appears in. They’re completely different paint jobs, but the ROTJ version is a more dusty, drab version that doesn’t have the meticulous layers of yellow paint beneath green, or all the more defined metallic wear on the edges, not to mention the wrist gauntlets and jet pack that matched the colour scheme that kids knew from the toy. I don’t buy for a second that TV Fett changed the colour of his helmet stripes to reveal some non-canon colour code. They didn’t even bother to show him as a bounty hunter. He’s just a chauffeur that becomes a crime lord in under a minute, and he’s going to look real silly in his armour, on that throne, playing Godfather.

The thing I LOVED the most about the Mandalorian was that they brought the Arquitans Light Cruiser into live action. That is by far one of my favorite ships from Star Wars lore. I loved how they showed how the docking / launch bay works because that was never well covered by any of the animated series or games. It is by far one of the most well rounded capital ships from Starwars. Not to big, not to small, has a small compliment of fighters / docking bay, has plenty of fire power, is fast, capable and is often overlooked. A half dozen of these ships could take on most anything if lead by a great commander. I hope to see Bo Catan put this modified Arquitans to good use and kick some butt!

Even though this may be too deep a thought, I think it might reflect a bit of Jango's teachings of Young Boba and would be expandable in Cannon.
For a Clone Trooper to reach "maturity" was about 9-10 years, which is about how old Boba (a non-altered Clone) was in age at the start of the Clone Wars. While Jango is Boba's 'father' ("Don't you mean Donor" -Bo-Katan), Jango himself was a foundling and taught Boba the best he could which may have included stories of his growing-up/youth. This would include the interactions with the True Mandalorians & the Mandalorian Civil War, as Boba was also referred to as "Jaster's Legacy."
As Jaster may have been Jango's mentor/sponsor within the True Mandalorians, though the cell/tribe that Jaster was personally leading were also Jango's parental figures (akin to aunts/uncles). While not active in the Mandalorian sector, Jango may have heard of the rise/rumor of the new Death Watch organization & may have assumed that they had some connection to the OG. He would want 'vengeance' against that group for the clan/family members he lost because of & may have instilled that into Bobo (grandparents & Jaster might be represented by 3 of those stripes). The death of Jango by Mace may be another, yet that would only account for four(4) strips - I believe the others may be the "aunts/uncles" & any "siblings" from the Fett farm &/or the True Mandalorians.
As Jaster (& assumed those others of the True Mandalorians, including Jango) may have wanted a "better world" & with Death Watch is "dead" again; it is time to fulfill that Duty (green armor) while Honoring the memory of mentors/parents (gold to red strips) and vision (Jango & Jaster via the red bracket/trim of the visor) in the process. Lust for life (yellow/orange of shoulders) & honoring the Way (res mythasaur skull sigil) as the path forward.
Though that might be reading too much into the symbolism.

  • @michaelbest5505

I won't question your comic lore knowledge, but it's too bad you didn't bother rewatching RotJ before this video. In that film, Boba's armor is a bit different than in ESB. On Cloud City, Boba's wrist gauntlets are green like the rest of his armor and those helmet stripes were yellowish. On Tatooine, the former were painted that dull red and those stripes were (drumroll please) RED. So maybe Boba was in the middle of giving his armor a new paint job before being rudely interrupted by that Sarlacc Pit and was just picking up from where he left off once he got it back in the Mandalorian? 🤓

Also, made me learn about Maori and New Zealand culture, and its people, which made me also imagine a Maori-like race of being in the Star Wars universe as a possible origin for Jango - which further got me hooked on learning all the lore I could find.

I honestly believe the stripes were painted a darker orange to represent the original colour before years of battle faded it to a lighter orange.
Additionally, Boba Fett's armour is Beskar. (and to add to that, because he is descended from a Mandalorian "foundling", he is in fact a Mandalorian himself as far as I'm concerned.) He was a Mandalorian in legends and always will be. People saying "but the other characters don't view him as one" doesn't matter. Just because he didn't follow the same path as other Mandalorians doesn't make him less of one.
My one problem with Temuera Morrison wearing the armour is that he doesn't fit the suit as well as Jeremy Bullock, for obvious reasons. While I like the new look with black robes, I wish they had gone with the classic look, though that may have looked even more awkward on T.M. now.

  • @chazblank2717
    @chazblank2717 3 года назад

Beskar isn’t particularly rare, at least for people associated with the Empire... Werner Herzog said it’s much more difficult to find a Mandalorian to properly forge it... “The Client” gives Mando the tracking FOB and a down payment of a single slip of beskar, but he also gave tracking FOB’s to literally every other bounty hunter on Navarro... Grief Carga even had a FOB and we know for fact he has a single slip of beskar as well... he claimed it was a direct result of Mando’s success, but why, where and when would he have gotten it prior to Mando collecting the full bounty unless he already had it as a down payment for taking the same bounty... The Client probably gave away more beskar as down payment than was in the full reward Mando collected in chapter three.

In ROTJ, the helmet had reddish orange stripes, in The Mandalorian S2 Ep 6, in the stormtrooper fight scene, the well worn helmet shows red stripes. It could be argued to be lighting as in the cockpit when he's seeing the Cruiser, it looks like there might be yellow on the side of helmet.

I always got from the show that mandalorians use beskar alloys in their armors (beskar + durasteel or w.e), which make them strongewr than average (hence their fame), and Din Djarin's one was exceptional because of it being pure beskar. He stood out because of that. I never got how people thought that they all used beskar, or that none did. Clearly they are famous for their armors, if it was not because of the materials used in them, what would make them so precious?

What about the green armour that shows yellow underneath the green paint? Joe Johnston weathered most of the green parts to look like a different colour is revealed as the green chips. The right pectoral panel is a slightly darker green and doesn’t have the yellow layer, but the other torso pieces suggest they were yellow (gold) before. Possibly hidden by Fett?
This doesn’t apply to the Return of the Jedi costume, just the Empire Strikes Back version.

  • @alexparadi522

I'm guessing that the dents are still there because they are partially divots (missing metal) and partially because it's easy to surface-treat something, but it's a lot harder to beat out a dent (particularly a small deep dent.)
