Dear Instructor and Professor. I’d like to thank you for collaborating with smaller, unrecognised MTG youtubers like Mitch and Vincent, they deserve way more attention and you give them the opportunity to grow their channels. I also wanted to share my favourite Zur combo, which locks the mana if you don’t have mono black opponents (super fun). All you need to do is attack with Zur twice and tutor for Bitterblossom (or for Dreadhorde Invasion if on a budget) and then tutor for Contamination. Before that you can put some enchantments on Zur to make sure he won’t die.
I much prefer my version of Zur, it uses the same hexproof core, but also uses things like heart of light, solitary confinement, dovescape and underworld dreams + temple bell/howling mine effects. it focuses on becoming immune to everything and then forcing the opponent to draw themselves to death Letting an opponent go through half their deck, only to realize nothing works as they're drained to death is much more fun

So happy to see Commander Quarters get sime exposure. I love his videos. Even if you dont run his list he gives amazing budget ideas that you could pull from and even gives upgrades. Amazing channel!!!
A lot of those strategies are already in my Zur deck. A few other really obnoxious things to add in are; - Stasis + Tel-Jilad Stylus - Once this is going, only you get to untap. Especially oppressive if you already control Loxodon Gatekeeper or Kismet - Arcanum Wings - Minor evasion, but bigger purpose is to swap into important aura that was drawn (at instant speed). Favorite option here is Eldrazi Conscription - Flickerform - Gives you an option to blink your Zur to avoid things like board wipes, while keeping your auras in tact. - Reconnaissance - Allows you to untap your Zur and save it from combat for no additional cost. Especially useful if your opponent casts spells such as Wing Shards.
My best friend's best deck is a Zur deck. Another great upgrade he uses is Vanishing. Great card early game as it allows Zur to tutor up enchantments without having to worry about getting killed, plus the card is only about 40¢
I actually had already subscribed to Commander’s Quarters before this video came out, but I agree, Mitch is awesome and his videos are definitely worth a look if you haven’t seen them.

I feel like my own Zur deck is a bit out of hand, but in cEDH, insanely busted on turn 5 isn't necessarily good enough. I lean into the salt in my deck, and it's actually so salt-dense that even nasty cards like Stasis just don't make the cut anymore. It usually has an 'early' shot at a win, so if nobody can counter/interact, I often win if the game goes to turn 5 or 6, but interaction can be frustratingly effective vs Zur. Once he's out, he usually gets Rule of Law out, because no stax effect can match it's ability to just say 'Nope!' to on-the-spot wins. Yes, decks can win around it, but about the fewest of any stax piece Zur can fetch. My deck is designed to win around Rule of Law, so it doesn't bother with many counters, since it won't be able to use them, but it does run fun hatebears that impact opponent's counters considerably. I think player hate will be an issue if Rule of Law is stabilized (as in, nobody can deal with it, or I get Greater Auramancy out), but Solitary Confinement is a very good survival option, and Web of Inertia + Rest in Peace can stop attacks, while shutting down any manner of graveyard interaction. If someone was interested in countermagic and Rule of Law, Moderation is a good fit, allowing you to draw without paying life, making it easy to pay for the now budget Soliary Confinement's 1 card per turn. Esper has some pretty incredible removal options, arguably better than Mardu now, with U offering several exile effects for creatures that are low CMC. You can easily fit in 30 great counters/instant speed removal in Esper, so if you've got Moderation out, Smother Tithe maybe, and Rule of Law, nobody is going to get anything out vs you unless you want them to, and you can remove anything that later becomes an issue somehow. Slow but thorough, as all good Zur builds will be. The biggest upgrade for Zur though is always going to be one of the best cards ever printed, Necropotence, which just bursts Zur wide open with massive card availability. If you don't have whatever you want, just pay 10 life and boom! You've got it or a tutor for it, so you're good either way. The nicest part about Zur getting a card like Necropotence or Rule of Law is that nobody can counter it, because it's not cast. This can result in a 'win on the spot' through Rule of Law, as you might only need 1 spell to combo off, or even none with Second Chance.
I learned about commander way back when because everyone wanted to trade for my foil Zur the Enchanter.... So I went and made Zur my first comander deck! I feel the Instructors glee over the frustration this deck can dole out is well warranted.
I have a question: if your opponents have decent removal (sacrifice, -1 counters) and you've played all these mana crippling enchantments, how can you plan on getting Zur out of the command zone a 2nd/3rd time? Regeneration is useless, totem armours have to be drawn early, all assuming he is the biggest target on the battlefield. Thanks
Woooooohoooo! CQ and the instructor this is awesome! Now this finally confirmed to me that Mitch has a strong vein of evil in himself, specially after i build my firsts deck with his tatyova and jhoira builds to win without being noticed by most players awesome keep up the great content guys!

i love playing Zur, as he is my 2nd favorite commander (first going to arcades). i play him in an evil way just not this way. vi go solemnity then straight into nine lives on turn 5-6. then i go for the immunity, and karmic justice an other stuff. i put the game into a position where i have all the tine in the world to get hive mind and pull the white epic spell. its so friendly
Nice! Love Mitch’s content and makes excellent decks. Loved seeing this video. Thanks Instructor and thanks Mitch.
I learned about commander way back when because everyone wanted to trade for my foil Zur
the Enchanter....
Thanks
I was looking at cards online and came across Zur, and the noob I am didn't realize the potential, I've already started making a devious deck
Woooooohoooo! CQ and the instructor this is awesome! Now this finally confirmed to me that Mitch has a strong vein of evil in himself, specially after i build my firsts deck with his tatyova and jhoira builds to win without being noticed by most players awesome keep up the great content guys!
The commander quarters is the best Edh deck help channel there is.
That sounds awesome, I baught and played my first ever game of commander on the weekend with “wade into battle” best fun I’ve had in a long time. 2.5 hr game with 3 friends. Love your work guys, I subscribe to you both and look forward to learning the game with your content. Cheers guys
Such an amazing video with amazing content creators ! :D
i love playing Zur, as he is my 2nd favorite commander (first going to arcades). i play him in an evil way just not this way. vi go solemnity then straight into nine lives on turn 5-6. then i go for the immunity, and karmic justice an other stuff. i put the game into a position where i have all the tine in the world to get hive mind and pull the white epic spell. its so friendly
Nice! Love Mitch’s content and makes excellent decks. Pretty much all you need to do with his builds is upgrade the lands and mana rocks to have a deck that can easily hold it’s own against insanely expensive decks. Glad he’s getting more exposure and hope to see him on Game Knights soon...or maybe to see the Professor on Close Quarters?
I was not expecting mitch to come on! I love his channel!
Well thanks!
How to aggravate MTG players: Put their cards into a paper shredder.
I was already planning a Zur control deck, so this was spectacular.
I KIDA HATE U
Include many counterspell cards.
well. It is ... great. Instructor and Professor, your collabs are the best
The Commander's Quarters is the best! Glad to see Mitch getting some respect in the community.
