Oh, much to my disdain, The Blue Ridge Parkway. As much as I hated driving on it, it served to create one of the best memories that I could have with my long deceased grandparents. I was a 17yr old in 1984 when I went on a road trip to the Parkway. Winding miles of nothingness, or so I thought. My grandfather loved to come up into North Carolina in June to see the Rhododendrons bloom. It was joke for the rest of their lives about how much I hated the Parkway and they often poked at me about going back. They both passed in 1993. If I could go back up there with them one more time, I would.

What a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing this. I recall the Blue Ridge Parkway when I was young, maybe not even 20. My first husband and I drove onto the parkway and we were mortified that it was so foggy we couldn't see the road. Scary! We got right back off at the next exit. 😬 That was my scariest Blue Ridge Parkway experience. Fortunately, all my other trips have been fair weather and beautiful. 😊👋
