I have no problem with "Remastering" old content, like Star Trek, giving it better effects and backgrounds, then I'd have no problem with releasing to TV or Theaters but I do have a problems with "Remakes" that don't actually improve anything.
I often wonder why my dad still enjoys black and white shows and movies so much, but I guess now I know that it comforts him because of his nostalgia for it.
Its because back then people knew how to tell a story, not just a thin excuse for CGI crap to keep ADD goons distracted.
If you are talking about the 3 Stooges, Laurel & Hardy, Abbot and Costello, Marx Brothers, Lassie and so many others, They knew how to entertain and they put their hearts into it.

I humbly enjoy Rankin/Bass's The Hobbit. It makes me happy to enjoy a classic as a child well as a parent. It doesn't have agendas, no politics, just an amazing treasure hunt with a cool Gollum and amazing narrative!

Its left me with Transformers and The Dark Crystal, but they cancelled that. All i got left after that is nostalgia. Everything thing else is in flames and can't hold my interest.
I've lost track of how many franchises have been destroyed with wokeness. Can't seem to have anything nice without someone assing it up.
Ubisoft was doing fairly well to avoid it ironically enough. It's just now 2020 has pushed them over the edge. I used to be the biggest fan of theirs. Assassins creed, Watch Dogs, Far Cry, Prince of Persia, Rabbids etc. Most of those are some of the best gaming franchises ever made in my opinion. Just now.... I fear for their future so dearly.😭😭😭

They always had ab agendas, they were just very subtle about how they present it. Nowadays people just go and rush through everything.
A couple generations ago, the “agenda” portion was done to encourage you to think using relatable situations, not to directly preach.
Sometimes they made their points by not making a point. For example, no one acted as if it was a big deal that Uhura (a black woman) was on the bridge and part of the command staff of the Enterprise on the original Star Trek - it was just matter of fact within the show, while still being very progressive in the real world.
Current show agendas use a bullhorn to make sure you HEAR the message, and a 2x4 to make sure you get it or are beaten to pulp for not (same result either way).
Sadly for them, we remember those pricks stood against the fandoms every step of the way

I have watching B-movies and old British films on RUclips and on retro movie channels. They are much better than most modern Hollywood productions its astounding.

Well tbf, a lot of cartoons in the 80s and 90s did get mighty preachy. Though it was more to do with stuff like save the environment, say no to drugs, stranger danger, don't play with guns and wear your life vests. At least in the US. Dunno if other countries were like that?

People feel nostalgia for the 80's and 90'S because that was when movies and tv shows were good. That is why they want to remake everything from then because things from then have established fan bases. They can't come up with original ideas.

it's really interesting to see this stuff happening from the perspective of the DMC fandom as we had our reboot in 2013 and then we actually got the sequel we wanted in 2019 its almost like the DMC franchise was a preview and right now the entertainment industry is in the dark years of 2013 - 2018 and now I think that the course correction we got with DMC 5 is slowly happening to the rest of the entertainment industry its a very strange perspective to have knowing that this stuff can be corrected while watching this going down

I went to the Mary Sue's twitter page just to see what the response to this article was and I noticed something interesting...most of their Twitter posts have zero responses and those that do have responses have very few (like less than 10).

We don't just want the past to be respected. We also want new things that are good that are unconnected to those franchises. The 90's was a major time for both continuations of existing shows and appearances of new ones.
We want good shows and movies that aren’t woke. Most if not all new movies and shows are woke.
Isn't calling it "nostalgia" a bit of a put-down? I ignore the new garbage because it's obvious political propaganda. I re-watch the classics because they had plots, characters, dialogue, and varied opinions. I'm not watching the classics in order to recapture my younger days.

The reason I love nostalgic stuff is because I can share a bit of my childhood with my daughter. That warmth and comfort my childhood movies and entertainment gave me, my daughter can now experience as well.
