100% is. This game is not what they promised us, it failed to be any kind of serious competitor to GT7 and ended up being a reskinned Forza 7 with half the content.
As if GT7 was any good to begin with.
GT7 is absolute trash:
-- horrendous track environments with 2d cardboard trees from 20 years ago
-- no physical or visual damage
-- fake collisions that look like table tennis
-- no dynamic weather on every track
-- all cars sound the same: the exterior sounds like the interior as if you had the windows fully closed
-- Every update sucks: ambulances, fictional (vision) cars, and fictional tracks, while FM gets proper racing cars and real-world tracks
-- No ray tracing on gameplay
-- In the last update they broke the game with an horrendous bug that makes it more unplayable than it was before.

You definitely haven't played Forza motorsport 7 if you think this is just reskinned fm7. For starters the whole progression system, physics system, game engine, career, MP and gameplay are all very different. And as for GT7 it's not even a competitor to GT6 it's literally just GT sport with some added features
if you play a lot, especially online, you will notice a lot more annoying bugs, crashes, loading etc etc
STILL marketing the game using visual settings that aren't available even today.
Theres next to no actual fixes in each update, just dripfed content and a TON of fomo.

There are some fixes, but a lot of the things they fixed shouldn't have been there on release.

The funny thing is, all of the FOMO content has been poor, and usually cars from prior games. Never feel like I'm missing out 😅
They generally fix a lot with each update but the rest you're right about. The game is in a pretty big free state now and all it needs is content but instead they're putting even less content into the game because that makes sense
When you have a sim rig set up, and proper racing games like Assetto, ACC, BeamNG, rFactor 2, Richard Burns Rally etc, I struggle to find myself wanting to play Forza Motorsport like I did in the good old days.
My thing with assetto, rfactor, PC2, and iRacing is that they aren’t games really. They’re just simulators for racing and that’s it. Theres no progression, no upgrading and customizing cars or whatever. Which is great for people that want that. If you’re just looking for raw racing experience for sure ACC and rfactor are gonna be your go to. But like gran turismo isn’t quite as realistic perhaps but it is still a game.
This isn’t to say that there’s anything wrong with ACC or PC2 or iRacing. They’re just different from what GT and Motorsport are going for.
BeamNG and automation make for a fantastic combo tho I must say.
I know what you mean, it's the car collecting, and garage building aspect that seems to elude those games I mentioned. They're time trial simulators 😅
I just wish there was an "indie" dev that could make a realistic car progression, car collecting, RPG style game.

@@chrisnorrell7489 of course. But that’s more similar to the progression get by getting better at anything. What I mean is that I find, other than that they are both realistic racing sims, comparing something like ACC or PC2 to something like GT just doesn’t quite make a ton of sense because aside from get better at racing (or if you’re playing ACC on pc a ton of mods) there just isn’t that much to do in dedicated sims vs something like GT. Again this isn’t a negative towards ACC or other dedicated sims. They’re just different.
For me personally I think ACC and PC2 are great I just never had the urge to really dive into them because my goblin gamer brain would rather pour time into GT where I can spend money on car upgrades and get that sweet neuron activate moment when I get a shiny new car.
In the good ol days I wouldn't touch Forza if I wanted to play on a wheel meanwhile this game is actually really fun on a wheel. There's just almost nothing to do in the game whereas the games you mentioned have stupid amounts of content to play around with

If Project CARS 4 wasn't cancelled it would've had the best UI design (based on the leaked unfinished UI video) because its designed by the same person who did DiRT3's UI, Philip Cox.
I would say, I'd love to see UI that's both consistent and unique to a game series. Like early Halo and CoD. People miss the uncluttered simplicity of those days.
Of all the things to dislike in this game, you pick semi-transparent menus and white text. Bloody hell, priorities here.

The lack of aero wings is insane. Very few customization options😂😂
That and painting and bumpers. They should have non performance options like trim color or carbon fiber fittings for the grille. You gotta have kennards and splitter to get black trim on the front bumpers of most cars.

GT7 was technically sound but had unsatisfactory progression. Simply put the game made you buy a bunch of cars you don't use to complete arbitrary checklists in order to progress the game.
GT7 was actually vulnerable yet Team Green dropped the ball with Forza Motorsport. The nonsensical progression systems, the technical issues, poor performance, and paired back visuals. Xbox has had a bunch of botched releases; Halo Infinite, Redfall and Forza Motorsport.
I wish Gran Turismo vs Forza Motorsport was a clash of titans. Instead it's a clash of something underwhelming and something that's definitely not built from the ground up.

Nearly all cars feel way to heavy and understeer like crazy. When I switch to AC it feels like a blessing and that’s like 10 years old
How does it feels compared to Horizon? If I remember correctly, Horizon doesn't do trail braking right.

@@thejdmunknown4228 if you say is boring, you simply don't like to do races with cars. You have no love for actually using the cars. Forza career structure gives you the chance to use almost every type of car, while GT7 makes you collect them to keep there without using.
I currently own an Xbox One X. I held back at purchasing the new Series X because I was like “I’ll just wait for the upcoming Forza to come out and bundle them and maybe buy special Forza edition Xbox..”
sufficed it to say that I bought a PS5 and now playing GT7, and play Forza horizon on my current Xbox.
I got it and stopped after like 3 weeks. Its just lame. Rally didnt happen, awesone grapgics didnt happen, more customization didnt happen, better driving physics in my opinion didnt happen. Its like a 2 year game that took 6. The progrssion is so lame. I mean its insane to me that they could spend that much time to make a game worse than forza 4. They really killed the franchise

I mean seriously when you spend all the money advertising the Cadillac DPi car on your cover just for players not to be able to play it in any campaign racer and only be able to take it online when the Prototype series shows up or the P class event shows up (which its severely underclassed for) its like when do you realize that you messed up entirely

Please play Driveclub ps4 next. I play it till this date (I bought it when it I was 11 years and wasn’t much aware about good ps4 racing games) I still kind enjoy the game to this day to be fair

Honestly, i think anything after fm4 is a more or less of a downgrade (except maybe the fh serie which has been quite decent), especially with the corrupt moderators and "racing teams" like ptg. Microsoft is killing everything they own, forza, WMR, windows 11, minecraft... And their 18 months hiring/firing strategy isn't helping either for game developping and bug fixes.

A widebody kit allows you to run wider tires. If you played the game, you'd know that running widebody kits in multiplayer is pretty much the meta (if the car offers it).
my main disappointment with FM8 was i was hoping we would have gotten a single player like FM7, but have more endurance races etc. but what we got in FM8 single player is a joke
I was already pretty disappointed with FM 7 Singleplayer Career. What annoys me is that they promised so much about the single player before launch. Fortunately, I relied on my gut feeling and didn't pre-order. Instead, I tested it with the Gamepass.

Even after the 10 updates, this game is inexcusable. I just gave this game another try yesterday after it's been sitting and collecting dust for months. I was reminded why I let this game sit. I just can not get into this game. It just doesn't do it for me. It's a turn-off.

one thing alot of people have been complaing about was the selection of rims in the horizon games is the rim selection which was very much improved on in fm8. for example we have a bunch of difrent te37 variants yet nobody apreciates the stuff they actually add

The fact that I've still had whole sections of the track just disappear around me, textures missing and popping in and out shows they haven't made it better for console. It'd also be nice to have suggested gears and more events

Whilst I agree that the career mode is rubbish and there's zero motivation to buy cars, UI being translucent isn't that deep at all. And NONE of that makes it a "scam". The games is refundable like anything else and most people got it for free with a subscription anyway, it's not like they forced you to buy it or anything either, scam is not the right word, disappointment is.
forza motorsport is 95% online ranked racing. That's the point of the game's existence. Name another game that does scheduled ranked competitive racing with daily/weekly races with a penalty system with ROAD cars. It's the most fun ive had in a racing game period. I dont have a ps5 so i cant say much for grand turismo but the online racing looks to be mostly gt and other race cars. And i havent tried iracing either but that seems to be mostly race cars as well (i could be wrong)
The stupid ass progression system and what they did with upgrading is what ruined this game for me. Its so dumb i don't understand why they change shit that doesnt need to be

I just don't understand what Turn 10 was doing all these years. Playground pumped out Forza Horizon 4 AND 5, and also started development on Fable, all in the same time it took Turn 10 to make this half-baked failure.
At least you can play any other racing game/sim out there. Forza Motorsport is currently the only racing game with blind driving assists, and they work really well. For all the negative said about this game, they really did an awesome job in terms of accessibility. Now, we need to get more devs onboard the accessibility train, because I would love to play iRacing, Acc, Asetto Corsa, etc, but right now, I just can't.
What were some major red flags you saw in the run-up towards Forza Motorsport’s release that pointed towards how bad the game was going to be?

It's kinda baffling. They can just lazily port some horizons feature to Motorsport and call it a day. Yet somehow they can't.

I am SO happy, that I didn't fall for the FOMO trap and actually waited a little bit before buying the game. Aa of right now, I still have no intentions in doing so, because the game feels cheap for something that should be groundbreaking. A lot of people still play the multiplayer and it's very fun. Not all aspects of the game are bad, mostly just the career mode.
I could deal with all of the bugs and visual stuff if they would just GET RID of the damn grindy progression

BTW, you know you can always change the proximity radar to be on mini map, it'll shows and replace the mini map only when you're close to other cars
BTW, FM and GT7 are similiar. You can't save while being offline, the game is quite empty ane barebone in single player, everything is a bit forced to multiplayer, and can't forgot how both games lied to our face on the marketing. The differences is probably just that GT have a consistent model and quality, which apparently please people enough, and Forza usually have decency to add a new era cars. Not saying it's a bad thing, but to call FM is bad because of the similiar cons GT7 has, is a bit hypocrite

I played when it 1st came out see it had basically nothing fm7 was better by a long way. Stopped playing. Game was just put out when not ready so done with game companys doing this. Then ever cancel all updates or patch for years to come for basically a dead game. M8 at the time did not wanna go back to fm7 i literally could not understand why he said he likes how the cars feel to fm7.

I bought this game on day 1, since day 1 the game ran like crap for me on PC. Made no difference if i turned all the settings all the way down, the game was an unplayable mess with constant microstutters and severe framerate drops at the start/finish line of each track. Last week i found out that by turning off one simple setting (V-sync) all those stuttering/framerate drops vanished like snow in the sun. I personally own hundreds of games on several digital storefronts but i never had an issue with a game that went unplayable just by turning on V-sync. All of the sudden i can play this game normally with maxxed out settings, ray-tracing flatout and the game never goes under 80FPS for me personally at 1440p...
I think everyone needs to calm down about this game. It's definitely salvageable, we just need to give the devs constructive criticism and suggestions, they just need to listen to us and implement them. Honestly, it's just the career mode that can't be saved, the multiplayer was clearly prioritised at some point in this game's development and I think people that still play the multiplayer will agree with me that it's still reasonably fun but needs serious improvement in many areas. Either way, one thing this game isn't, is a scam because that's not what the definition of scam means. I think the title is a bit clickbaity and it's just getting everyone riled up which helps nothing and nobody.
What I heard is that they addressed barely any of the feedback. I would like to know about the stability of the game, glitches being fixed, crashes being fixed, drift events, drag events, rallyX maybe, fixed car models and interiors, and a penalty system overhaul to go with their murderous AI.
I won't go back until I start hearing about this. Until then...I have plenty of other games to fill the void.

Bugs that were a problem on release are still present and with each update very little is done to actually fix them. This seems to be an issue with both Forza developers, both are lazy and incompetent.
They just got the sound engineer that was known for the quality of car sound reproduction in the first 6 games, he came back to fix all the sounds for the cars...

FM2023 is such a tragedy of a game man... It breaks my heart as a series fan who played all the games (except for FM5 since I never owned an Xbox One) from FM4 & FH1 all the way through.

I was really hyped for the game until I heard the game's progression and the forced online only aspect. And the amount of marketing that was straight up false. On top of missing features and gamemodes. And I'll never touch this game ever due to the online only aspect.
Quick answer before even watching the video is yes, the answer after watching the video is still yes. The game came out undercooked, needed at least another year... The wheel feels sluggish, the ffb is still 3/10 and i doubt that they will ever improve it but i might be wrong.
How is a 2024 model in a 2023 game only "not quite as good as GT7"?!?!?

Turn 10 have always made huge statements about the new iteration of motorsport but sadly they never deliver. Wheel support is always an after thought as forza is not a sim so a controller game. This was meant to take on GT7 but it's nowhere near when it comes to physics and wheel implimentation.
It definitely isnt perfect but i still jump on and play the monthly events at minimum. I still find it fun and the phyisics for me i think is the best in the recent games. I never liked how fm5 to fm7 really felt and this feels much better in my opinion. Could it be better? Hell yea and i am disappointed on how it lauched but im still having my fun. Gt7 started off quite bad tbh aswell. And its slowly becoming the game it should of been so this has that chance and is slowly getting there.
Honestly when there's a choice between the team trying to fix this game for another few years or just moving on to FM9, I'd take FM9 sooner than later. Although I have no hope for either FM8 being fixed or FM9 launching in a good state, T10 just fucks up too often. Haven't even bought this one yet with how broken it launched. This is not a generational title, this is the one in the series to skip, and I say that as someone who is starved for a good sim-cade racer, because while I have FM7 it's completely unplayable on an AMD system.
Still no auction house… No proper drag racing… speaking of drag racing… that’s how I can tell the physics engine is no different than fm6 and 7. We are still tuning the exact same way. Aside from the suspension geometry and anti squat, the cars still move the same way. The drag tires are the equivalent to racing tires in fh5… but I digress
