I'll always remember from the Stealing Souls series, Gunblade getting absolutely destroyed as Marth on Kalos vs the Nairo Falcon. Perfect pivot jab 1 cross-ups, down throw into a dair, up air, dair set-up. It was beautiful 😍
The traction increase in Ultimate definitely made a difference, characters don't shoot forward trying to grab....also Falcon had a better initial dash comparatively and a smoother turnaround so he just felt different to pilot in 4.
@@kayden2119 fox, mario, lucas, greninja, falco, luigi, falcon, mk, kirby, mega man, pac man and damn near the rest of the cast. All of these characters from across the tier list extensively used jab locks in their game plan. These mechanics added sauce to everybody. Characters just being insanely overturned was made it unbalanced. ie clouds buster swod being the size of the empire state building.
ive never thought to describe it that way but yeah thats what i feel in many games i like the more of what it has to offer at highest levels but the downsides due to weird individual designs/balances and overall the game being not cared for like devs do with newer games it holds them back its similar for, basically, most fgs and a bunch of shooters is what i feel
As someone who played it I agree, also montages had some fire clips in this game and Falcon definitely had saucier clips and footstool combos shouldn’t have been removed so sad

Cooldown being nonexistent in Ultimate doesn't really have counterplay besides hard reads, which even those lose to spotdodge > attack cancel unless you time your reads absolutely perfect. This is even worse when you take lag into consideration aince most people play Ult online. Moves having lag again would be a welcome change in Smash 6.
@@dilph yes lots of characters having hoo - hah confirms made shield risky at kill percents or even mid percents with rage for characters like sheik, M2, etc, shield was still strong because powershield was far safer than parrying was. Plus grabs had more lag in 4.

Parrying is comically bad in comparison to power shielding, it almost feels like and april fools feature, my eyes do an undertaker roll when people unironically say parry is better when it is so obviously far worse. I guess when it comes to picking poisons I prefer the run up shield meta. Then again, Ultimate (strictly the gameplay) is my least favorite smash game in the series by quite a bit. The "balance" is very artificially forced by mashy universal system mechanics, which was thr laziest way to go about it. That and despite the game having even faster walk and run speeds than Melee, it feels the clunkiest besides maybe 64.

And like it's like 5% of what wave dashing actually can do in melee like why even bother? They still couldn't even get the online to work right.
Bro smash 4 was so much better, the control was so beautiful. Just look at that clip with zss. Down smash, then she has the time to run behind samus and back air her. Everything was _so_ _smooth_. I respect the people that prefer ultimate, but it just feels rushed. Worst is that you had to switch game to continue playing with your friends. Smash 4 got that sense of beauty that smash ultimate doesn't, now it feels so cold.

These replays showcase two things I desperately miss from Smash 4: Smash 4 Falcon and Smash 4 Marth. Back when both of them felt like real characters and were fun to play 😭😭😭
I remember having a replay against a Little Mac on For Glory. Weirdly enough NOT 1v1, but just For Glory in general, wanted to do a Four Player match. Anyway, was a bit bummed it was a 1v1 on a mode I wanted 4 Player match and just dealt with the 1v1. The first minute of the match, the Mac Taunted and teabagged. Something snapped within me, and I just let my animal instincts take over. I 3 Stocked that Mac for 40 seconds. By the last 5 seconds, he did not want to fight anymore. He just crouched for the remainder of that time, while at the same time, I snapped out of my Kill Mode. I've probably had better matches than that, but Smash Patches pretty much deleted them. Also the Smash game where I was comfortable with using most of the cast. Personally speaking : I think Smash Online should always have a 3 Stock 7 Minute Time Limit.
Holy shit, at 19:48 if you pause and go frame by frame you can see Cloud extending his hitbox by jabbing, which is what causes Roy's f smash to connect.
Mewtwo vs Falcon was annoying for Mewtwo because on top of getting hit by everything, I'm pretty sure Dthrow into knee was true specifically and only on him. I remember getting so tilted by that as a Mewtwo player lmao. Also now that I see this I realize how much I miss neutral airdodge being the only one. Even if it was more spammable I'd trade them for the ultimate ones any day, because airdodge reads were much more valuable and satisfying to punish when you also didn't have to correctly predict and follow the direction. (also I think they had more landing lag but could be wrong on that one)

I understand that Ultimate is beginner-friendly but Ult's movement being easily accessible for anyone kills the idea of shmoovement and any potential. That's why Ult is so boring to watch compared to other titles, nearly everyone can do anything
