Fatality always has the hardest bracket runs. 9 out of 10 times I swear… bless his heart… but with that being said you can tell he has gotten so much better cause of it. The way he’s moving in neutral has gotten a lot better. Top 8 tournament I can feel it!!!

Just get better? He's gonna run into better players. Putting the fact that someone is better than him isn't a chance of luck, it's simply that he's not as good of a player to make it to Top 8 every tourney.

In this matchup and against this player, imo I think a lot of it is because fatality likes to go offstage for deep edgeguards and byleth’s up b absolutely destroys people who try going off stage, which eliminated a massive part of how fatality gets kills

I think slingshot is a good movement tool for some characters, and a necessity at top level for others (I guess Lucas players have known about it for a while).

@Baby Jay i dont believe its that simple, as everyone whos been at least trying to get better should know about turnaround bair, since bair is always stronger. When the term slingshot started to blow up, alot of pros were in videos practicing this "new" tech, including mkleo and fatality.

If he can't take a set of Maister since the game started, How will take one from Mkleo? Impossible, not while he uses C. Falcon. Fatality is good and he has potential to be a great Top Player, ut if he kepts using C. Falcon, that's not gonna happen.

Two of my favourite players. I didn't want either one of them to lose. :( I always root for Leo, but at the same time I'm always hoping for Fatality to finally get his break out tournament. Tough draw for him to run into Leo.
Byleth was such a smart counter pick from Leo. Fatality was getting so much from edge guards against aegis and Byleth feels impossible to edge guard
Indeed. It's real hard to edgeguard someone with a tether recovery especially one with maddening range like Byleth's

I'm honestly so tired of watching Fatality lose to players who use better characters. Nothing against Leo bc he's very smart and plays well. I respect Fatality for sticking with Falcon despite this since he's my favorite character to watch.
I was thinking this as I watched the video too. I don’t really like watching ultimate. But Fatality is very entertaining, way more so than another Anime fire emblem xenoblade headass character.
With how much Leo was going offstage in that last match, you know fatality had him feeling some type of way lol

There were 2 moments in game 4 in which Fatality went for footstool->Falcon Kick out of shield, but he flubbed the input... one of which he died for. I know he's trying to push Falcon to the limit, but that tech is so hard to execute and has very little payoff. I wonder if he'll reflect on this set and reevaluate the risk/reward ratio of that OoS option. If it's THAT hard for the BEST Falcon to pulloff, idk if it's worth going for considering how little you get for it even when you do it correctly.
That aside, though, I feel he played great in this set. He's gotten so much better and I hope he has a beastly Losers Bracket run. Keep your head up, Griffin!!!!

So good seeing Fatality again, forcing Leo into a character counter pick no less; missed this guy. Very fun set! He reminds me of Nairo the way he goes for the big plays, honestly such a crowd pleaser without even tryin.
Man that was a very nice set. I was surprised that was rooting for fatality bc I’m a huge Leo fan but fatality had Leo’s Pyra / Mythras number so much he switched off to byleth (which I’ve been craving to see again) so GGs to the legend and as well to fatal
Off topic, but any tips on fighting Falcon? I can't seem to beat these guys no matter who I use. It's getting super annoying, especially since Georgia is FULL of them. I'm trying to study this video but I don't think I'm learning much. I play Hero, Marth, Zelda, and Corrin. Tips for just one of these MUs can help me a ton. Thanks!

Yeah it was a pivot grab, just a very fast one and weird spot. Caught him literally as soon as fatalities roll invincibility was over.

It wasn't a pivot grab. Fatality rolled barely behind MkLeo and tried to grab which extended his arm out into MkLeo's grab box which started slightly sooner.

Such a fun set to watch and I'm glad to see Fatality playing so well. People like to say he chokes in clutch matches and gets way too aggresive but I think Fatality played amazingly this whole set, just got fairly outplayed by the best. Good stuff to both
When I saw fatality edge guarding very excellently exploiting pythra's predictable recovery I was hoping he would go Bylith with his very good recovery and he did. That does not look like a good match up for Falcon.

Leo obviously knows better than me and his aegis is obviously really good, but I just don't understand why he isn't a joker and byleth dual main at this point. Clearly his best two characters

Nah. Some characters aren't always whats needed. And fatality studied leos joker. Many top players have found success against his joker. Its one reason why Leo switched to byleth.

I thought that switch may be coming. Aegis can be overwhelming but Falcon deals well with that and edge guards really hard. Byleth was much harder to deal with.

Did I miss something in the ruleset or in the match? How come Leo switched to Byleth after winning a game?
Unless it's something like crew battles normally, you can always switch the character between games. If you mean JUST after he won, Byleth had a way better chance against Falcon offstage, better range, and hits just as hard as Aegis. Better projectile too, just a lot easier to avoid dying offstage against Falcon.

Is there something in the rules about that? In Frostbite, Leo had won 5 straight games against Maister's G&W but used Byleth for game 6.
Step 1: The Loser picks the stage
Step 2: Winner can switch characters if they want to
Step 3: Loser can now counterpick a character if they want to.

He simply got outplayed by Gluto and all these Leo stans are johning for him, saying he was sandbagging by picking one character over another, as if they know Leo's matchups better than he does. Fatality going even with his Mythra but gets stomped by the Byleth says all you need to know about Leo when he plays the 2. There's no reason for him to play Mythra besides the fact he likes them for some reason. Byleth and Corrin fit Leo like a glove.

Good commentary. Just not a fan of this sword character meta. Really takes away from the skill level of mkleo. Don’t get me wrong he’s still an insanely good player regardless of what character he playing. It’s just a matter of moral and seeing sword characters is boring. Couldn’t find the + moments from Leo as hype because of this. Watching fatality move and get ground as falcon is way more hype and impressive in comparison and because of this I believe regardless of if you win, if you’re playing a sword character, you’re losing
Based ass take. I'm not saying it's impossible to play swordies in a hype way but, honestly, you almost never see it, simply because it's not safe. Sure it's effective to play like that, but it's not fun.

But it’s more just gripe with the meta created by Nintendo. Sword characters don’t need to be basic to be good but that’s how they are designed and in my opinion that makes them boring. If that’s what makes my take based then so be it but with a roster of 89 characters. Sword types dominate in a very unflavorful way

It's like that with pros. They are really skilled. This is from commentary. They can take situations and dire scenarios and make it favorable to them. I myself can do it at times. But you see pros at times and they have their moments of shine. From like 20 techs to then recover and get the kill themselves. To reversal ko off stage. These guys are actual masters of Smash and can do this stuff. There are some good ones too.
