M2K’s commentary kills me “That’s so strong” “YOU FOOL!” “ROY’S WAY TOO STRONG”
if you’ve ever taken coaching sessions with m2k, expressions like “you fool!”, “what are you doing?!”, “stop doing that!” are a commonplace. don’t get me wrong, m2k is one of the best coaches-if not the best-but yeah his commentary folds me LOL

We need more top player commentary. They're always too busy playing to commentate and provide their unique "2 steps ahead" insight. They were both like 2 steps ahead and had the option scouted. So cool
I prefer these two to breezy and that other dude who are just shouting and making hood jokes the entire time
Fatality seems to progress slightly every time he faces Kola, but I think he doesn't lack any matchup experience anymore.
What he (imo) lacks is the mindset and, with that, the punishes. In the first games, you can actually see him mixing up his ledge game, being as weird in disadvantage as possible and trying out different things in neutral. But it's always the last game/s that he starts getting overwhelmed and doing THE SAME ledge option (being drop down double jump nair) and the SAME things in neutral, being either short hop nair 1 2 or dash attack. On top of that, I think he should really stop punishing things with run up grab all the time. Down and up throw get him nowhere, because it's mad easy to predict and DI away when he repeats the procedure over and over again. Instead, he should mix it up with side b which has actual true and/or easier combos or just up b when he has enough time like for example after Kola missed an up oos.
Also, Falcon shouldn't edge guard Roy with drop down dair or weak knee, both don't work if the Roy knows what he does and what Roy can do. I've had more success with bair, but still not worth it, if you miss, you get like 10-20 from the up b and are in a weird spot OR you end up on the ledge. And Roy's ledge trapping is very scary for Falcon.

In every single Fatality vs Kola set, I see him constantly going off stage, and 9 times out of 10, he doesn't hit Kola. Kola ends up getting free damage and/or reverse edge guarding him.
I haven't watched the video yet but the reason he does up throw against roy is because fatality knows kola can escape out of dthrow. It's much better for kola to be above fatality than it is horizontally unless he's setting up for a edge guard/ledge trap and up air is usually true from up throw no matter the DI.

@@Bixnoodle 100%. Its just yelling and bullshit from those types of commentators. They all flock to fighting games but never can compete at the highest level. Whites/Asians dominate, just like in most video games and life honestly.
Ik that we’re in like year 4 of ultimate but I love how Ultimate bridged the gap between Melee players and everyone else that came after.

This was won on the mental game. Both players performed well technically, but props to Kola for staying cool even after a bad loss. In contrast, my man Fatality fell apart mentally--you could see it in his play in the final game. Kept making bad decisions and Kola smelled blood in the water
Fatality has a real hard time with swordy matchips and it sucks, the first 2 games were good from him but the 3 after were just downhill. Hopefully he'll get better with mix ups and his punish game
Its not just Fatality, thats a Falcon problem in general. He really suffers against big disjoints because they tend to zone right in the space he wants to be in, and moves like side b frequently gets stuffed before the armor activates by sword moves. He has a really hard time getting the ball rolling because of that.
You know what Fatality did so much better than I thought. After that 3-0 versus Tweek I thought his mind would be in the gutter but he showed up and I'm not gonna lie was kind of saucing. To go 3-2 versus a matchup you know that you are not good at and you know your character loses is impressive. Kola of course playing awesome, proud of the Georgia boys

Fatality needs a secondary every top 10player has at least three characters they switch to in case of bad matchups or play styles he needs to switch it up idk if he ever won a major but he definitely won’t ever do it with his his solo falcon
Fatality ain't top 10 if he had a secondary it would still lose because he's worse than the other player.
He was going to train a secondary but then he realized he didn't want to play anyone other than Falcon. Besides, I watch him because he's the best Falcon. Another Pyra/Mythra player would be lame.

@@MrBakerman58 I mean people used to say Falcon couldn't win in Melee too and then Wizzy beat everyone and is always a contender at majors, even winning them.
I dont know if that'll ever happen in Ultimate but the simple fact is that Fatality isn't motivated when he isn't playing Falcon. He wants to win but he wants to do it on his terms. Playing the character(s) you resonate with will always give you better results than just picking better characters.

I swear Roy can just throw out moves and it works (and kills!). But, I have to say as a fan of fatality, he got outplayed. He just took so, so, so many offstage risks and picked desperate options. Nerves are tough, so I understand why
Roy sweet spot is close. He throws moves to rack up damage to kill with sweet spot easier
Probably one of the worst matchups for Cap. Gets close just like he does but has more range options and kill power.

It's gotta be rough running into a local bracket demon in bigger tourneys like this for Fatality. He feels like he's getting closer and closer every time though, his grind will get results eventually you can feel it.

Get up attack seems to be the worst choice at all times. Parrying and blocking get up attacks seems to be easier as the game progresses

In addition to everyone (rightly) commenting on fatality's mindset and neutral, one small point that I really don't understand is his usage of u-throw. It pretty much cost him that last game and gets nothing from it. He could have at least got an u-air of nair from d-throw and pushed roy closer to the ledge.

This is a big brother little brother matchup. As long as Kola is serious he’ll never lose the set. It’s sucks to see but it is what it is.
Also what the heck where the up throws from Fatality for? I’m genuinely curious…… looks like a terrible option.
Kola knows the matchup well and Dthrow on Roy doesnt lead to anything if it is DI'd correctly in a lot of situations. With up throw he at least gets a juggle opportunity, there may be some frametrap with up air after at zero too (notice they were usually at zero or low percent). Thats probably the thought process.
Honestly when you have an opponent that schools you this regularly like this you kinda have to experiment and try to throw him off.

feel like fatality is chasing perfection, you never catch the dragon, you only chase it for as long as you can. falcon doesnt have a sword or tough guy into s, doesnt even have a proper shield poke... to make all that worse, he doesnt have a ranged grab to make up for all that. maybe more coke will give fatality bullet time.

This guy fatality will die by his aggression. You know, if he can master patient falcon and combine it with his overly aggressive falcon he'd be a beast. And all he wants to do is neutral air all day, to knee. Falcon in this iteration of smash isn't meant to be played like he plays him. You have to utilize every move in his arsenal.

Fatality needs a secondary, he cant climb the competitive ladder if he keeps staying too loyal to Captain Falcon, i mean I respect that but you need another secondary for terrible matchups like Roy
He did officially(?) Say at one point he was gonna secondary Aegis but he seemingly dropped them since.
No he needs to switch his style against Kola. He could have reversed edge guard Kola a few times if he raptor boosted. I think it's a good tool to use in disadvantage.

@@ramongosling5309 mu is -1, even before he still struggled against roy, he had a moment where he figured out the roy mu but roy having a sword and speed matching falcon can make it oppressive. Also hard to edge guard roy up b off stage with falcon's moves

I firmly believe at a certain skill level some matchups are borderline impossible to win. Cpt Falcon vs Roy is one of those.
Just because one falcon player consistently gets demolished by one Roy player doesn't mean the matchup is impossible. If Leo picked up Falcon I guarantee you he'd get Ws off of Roy players

The only way fatality will win this matchup is gimping and cheesing and running. It is not pretty, but it works. Fatality has too many disadvantages to Roy. Evading and Spacing is one of the Godly tactics.

Why do they call perfect block a parry, blocking is not the same as parry. Parry is when you deviate the attack to then counter attack. I thought parry in smash was when 2 attacks clashed and canceled each other. Its p block geezus
