As someone who started with 1883 this is so true. Hearing John saying it felt very validating because that's what I've been thinking all this time
Yeah, I notice this gangster has his henchman "sacrifice" someone every now and again.
John Dutton is Tony Soprano and Hillary Clinton all in one.
How could you possibly have started with 1883 before Yellowstone?
That’s like starting with Better Call Saul before Breaking Bad.
@@locomojoboy2 Not at all. Better Call Saul is also a sequel and has way more direct references to Breaking Bad. Plus it ruins you some of the twists. But 1883 is so far up in the past and with so minor references that it stands on it's own perfectly.

"We're an embarrassment to the sacrifice it look to give us a home."
Been waiting for Dutton to say this in (front of Beth and Jamie) for at least two seasons.
Glad Sheridan is tightening things back up - Yellowstone was starting to feel a little less "Cowboy" and a little more "Days of Our Lives".
Time to cut the drama and get back to the gist of it all - building and protecting the Ranch and all it stands for.
Here's to an intense, two-season-long Jamie redemption arc.
Sadly, going by the recent episode, it seems that redemption is not forthcoming for Jamie. 😒 I'm really sick of Beth's insane treatment of him, especially threatening his baby. I'm beyond disgusted with her ongoing cray cray storyline and behavior when it comes to Jamie.
Can I ask where you're from?
lol season 4 really was "Days of Our Lives"
Jamie does not need redemption, the Duttons need to redeem themselves for the way they treat Jamie
The Beth treatment of Jamie has made her scenes unwatchable for me.
Kevin costner is so good in this

How could anyone dislike this show is beyond me. Mr. Costner is in his element. A great actor in a role that is made for him. Safe to say I love it.

Or Train Station
What’s really interesting to me is that John told Jamie, “this should’ve been you.” We’ve watched John try to fight Jamie’s political ambitions for 4 seasons, but he’s now admitting Jamie should’ve done this. I honestly think John did always intend for Jamie to become a politician to protect the ranch. But when Lee died and John needed Kayce to replace him, he basically expected Jamie to put his own life and ambitions on hold to help get Kayce ready, which honestly isn’t that fair to Jamie. I think it all was just bad timing.
I'll admit that I missed a few episodes, but from what I gather, John pretty much summed it up in the speech here. Sure, Jamie had ambition, but without a steel spine to bolster it, he wouldn't have lasted long. That's what John meant when he asked, "Then what?" John has ice water in his veins, and I'm convinced that both Beth and Rip have some honey badger DNA. They'll do whatever it takes to protect the Ranch. But Jamie's a bit too much like Fredo from "The Godfather." Too indecisive, too self-conscious, too wishy-washy. John wants to see that scared little boy that all of us men start off carrying around inside of us to be consumed in the fires of adversity, and for a man to rise from the ashes in its place. A man who's sure of himself, a man whom his family trusts with their lives, and a man who will fight to the bitter end for that family. If Jamie can ever get to that point, then John may finally truly embrace him as a son.
@@ShaolinShadowStroke I took that Then What to mean, they couldn't trust him to act on their behalf if he did become Governor.
Yellowstone really is Godfather-esk. Oldest Son who is supposed to take the reins, but dies young. Middle brother who is weak, youngest brother who was supposed to be free of the family business, but now has to step up and run it..... wild child daughter who eventually smartens up and becomes the boss' attack dog lol
I think Beth is more Fredo like. Fredo was led by his emotions and was unstable
@@daisyflower40 Kinda, but Sonny was truly the emotional one. Hot-headed, quick to shoot off at the mouth when he should be listening, hella impulsive, and led by his libido. It's true that Fredo was unstable, but in a different way. He wasn't hot-headed, but he had a spine made of Jell-O. Believe it or not, I think Rip is the MIchael of the bunch. Sure, he has a temper and can fly off on somebody, but unlike Beth, he knows when to turn it on and when to switch it off. He knows just when to be understanding (like when he convinced John to let Teeter stay in the bunkhouse) and when to bring the pain.
@@ShaolinShadowStroke true I saw the movie and don’t see Jamie as Fredo but more like Tom

@@art_vandelay7845I hope so. I don't understand why John and especially Beth hate him so much. I don't think the things he did deserve this kind of treatment. Beth is the messed up one not him. I don't like her
@@steph9530 She is angry at him for what he did to her 20 years earlier, but I also hate her endless crusade to ruin his life, and I also hate the fact that John seems to be totally oblivious to how far she crossed the line with him. He doesn't know that she blackmailed him and made him kill his biological father, but he knows that she is somehow threatening him, and all he can do is blame him for not being focused enough only toward the good of the family to be suitable as governor.
The land, the family legacy always has to come first, ranching families that do not understand that deserve to lose everything, it just pains me that those like that are hurting both the generations that came before that did sacrifice everything and those not yet around who will inherit nothing because their parents were selfish.
This is the most memorable scene from Season 5, for me.

Pouring weller 12 like its just everywhere
What Jamie did was terrible but Beth has stated more than once that she hates the ranch. She only protects it out of love for her father. The only child that truly loves the land is Kayce and also Lee (RIP).
True
Jamie loves it, too. He never wanted to go to school to be a lawyer. He just wanted to stay on the ranch and be a cowboy. He says he loves the ranch, too, all throughout the series. He was the only one (besides Lee) to stay on it while Beth went to SLC and Kayce moved to the rez with his family. Jamie's only ambition was to be a rancher, but unlike John, he knew things had to change for the Yellowstone to survive. He wanted the power to enact that change, but his Dad got in the way because of his stubbornness and recklessness...
Love this ❤️

True.. Very True
I read a few comments ahead of the end. The ones that mentioned the driver confused me a bit. After watching the whole thing I get it haha.
I feel like I am reading the end scene of 'The Good Earth' all over again.
Never enjoyed watching the inside of a car drive more than this
There's a brilliant film I caught by accident called LOCKE. It's Tom Hardy and the entire movie is set in his BMW as he's driving down the motorway in England making multiple phone calls while going through a midlife crisis. I had no idea a movie set in a car would be that good but it's a very good car about one guy.
This is what my car rides are frequently like. Glad I just got my license 😂😂
It's going to be tough to make people happy with how this show ends later this year.

Father resolving the issue quickly 0:26 lol
An amazing scene! Is the price John Dutton pays for power is sacrifice? Jamie is on his what 3rd chance with the family? That man better tighten up. And when John Dutton shared with his children what he believed in his heart how he thought they were ‘an embarrassment’ to their ancestors, hopefully that’s a wake up call to Beth as well. She has sacrificed more than she should have but she must put her feud with Jamie to rest (for now).
#yellowstone
What I liked was a lesser man would blame his children. John puts himself in the same level of blame as the rest of them. He sees this as his redemption as much as the rest of the family. I would be proud to drive that man around.
Jaime deserves better in every way, Beth is a spoiled brat who folded after receiving a 1/8th of the treatment that Jaime has received his entire life within one bad dinner. Over Beth wrongfully getting someone sent to prison. She was totally in the wrong for that yet still acted like she was a poor unloved daddy’s girl.
John is too self centered to realize that Jaime taking Beth to that clinic was John’s fault for his children to be so terrified of him finding out.
Jaime inadvertently saved rips life by doing so. So if Jaime did sell Beth out to John John would have killed rip and Beth would most likely grow up hating Jaime anyways; because Beth is a shitty and vindictive human who thinks she knows what having a rough life is like when in reality she’s a rich white girl that comes from hard earned (not by her) privilege
@@NWNative147 I can’t help but think an unwanted hysterectomy is much worse than any other treatment Jaime has received. Maybe John would have killed Rip but Beth would still be able to reproduce. At any rate, we are where we are in the story.

This is just a great point most of us don't get:
Renunciation to gain an end is barter; in it there is no living up, but only exchange. Self-sacrifice is an extension of the self. The sacrifice of the self is a refinement of the self, and however subtle the self may make itself, it is still enclosed, petty, limited.
The fact that John never told Beth off like he did to Jamie is one of the many reasons Jamie ultimately turned on him
Speaking of Kynan Dutton of " Welcome to Leith" I was wondering who was going to play me on the TV series. Albert Borgmann

There is a good chance that Jamie is part of the family. He could be the son of johns wife’s sister. From what they say she was close to their mother and John. Even though there’s no actual proof they’re something screaming it.
I thought Jamie’s biological mother was a friend of the Dutton mother. It seems like I remember John explaining it, and it seems like Beth makes reference at some point too. Gonna have to go back and watch again.
