Nice Video!!!Hygiene Hygiene Hygiene I am sure that your very nice teeth gets a professional cleaning very often perhaps every 20th day or 30th day. Cleaning by a dental hygienist is really the best way to ensure that bacteria filled plaque never builds up. You mentioned every 3rd or 4th month but lots of bad things happens in your mouth in 3 monhts not only bacteria that attack your gum tissue but also caries attacks on you enamel. The main component of plaque is more than 1000 different types of BACTERIA attacking the ENAMEL or GUM TISSUE 24/7. You brush to get rid of alive and moving BACTERIA sitting on your teeth. But, however good you are at brushing you can never do it 100%, there will always be areas with plaque left behind in between the molars -- flossing does not help much. The enamel plus dentin is only a few mm thick and the BACTERIA will reach the pulp and the blood vessels in a few weeks or months creating an infection called CARIES. Likewise, plaque sitting on the tooth close to the gum tissue is also full of hundreds of millions of BACTERIA which will transfer into the gum causing inflammation and bleeding called GINGIVITIS. BACTERIA in the gum tissue will then start moving in between the tooth and the gum towards the root of the tooth - pockets - causing PERIODONTITIS which results in total tooth loss. The ONLY way to stop tooth decease is regular visits to a dental HYGIENIST and get a thorough professional cleaning. If you do it every second month - 6 times per year - you will have a very good dental health. It will cost you around 500 dollars per year which is nothing compared with the astronomical costs of root canals, crowns and implants. Dentists and nurses have their teeth cleaned once a month and even once every 20th day. The BACTERIA are living creatures and WILL NOT GIVE UP UNTIL YOUR TEETH ARE ALL DESTROYED AND GONE and you will wear terrible dentures costing 10,000 dollars . Unfortunately, dentists are not always interested in people's healthy teeth and are not educating their patients! Good teeth health does not create demand for profitable dental care. Remember, ONE tooth implant can cost 4000 to 5000 US dollars. Bad teeth health costs about 150 Billions per year in the US and occupies many hundreds of thousand of dentists and nurses. Bad teeth is a very real problem and many people suffer a lot for no reason. People need to be educated about total tooth health.
Hi! Thank you for your comment. It sounds like you are very interested in dental health. I actually only get my teeth professionally cleaned every 6 months myself. And when you work at a dental office, it can actually be hard to get your cleaning done as you are the one doing all the work! lol Proper brushing and flossing is really the best defense but you are correct, hygiene therapy with a hygienist is essential to reach certain areas that your brush and floss cannot. Once damage starts to occur, it only gets harder to clean on your own which is when we move patient to every 3-4 months.
Hello, Peggy: Waterpik has 100psi, this won't remove tartar. A Cavitron has 3,000psi, this removes tartar and cleans teeth wonderfully. I ask is it possible to operate a Cavitron DIY? Much the same way one would use a Waterpik. (UK)
Hi, so my names Justin I work as a Dental Hygienist, the short answer to your question would be no. The average person wouldn't know how to properly use a cavitron and ultimately could damage their dentin and enamel. You can actually puncture through the tooth with the cavitron especially on a tooth that's compromised. I hope that helped!

nice explaination a question please why when the Bone downturn or shrink the gum olso shrink why doesn't stay in it place ? why the gum follow the Bone loss ?
I have a question : how many millimeters of destructive potential has the bacterial plaque in terms of bone resorption? 3mm? 2mm? Let me know please ;-)
Bacterial plaque has the potential to remove all supporting bone in worst case scenario. I am non dentist, but since many people has tooth loss due to bone loss, it make sense I guess.
I have a bulge between my front teeth. It happened during my pregnancy & I already had sensitive gums so flossing scared me. I'm waiting for an appointment with my dentist but I wish I could just get rid of this altogether. Thank you for this
Nobody finds it necessary to name the species of bacteria involved and nobody mentions whether antibiotics could be taken to destroy the bacteria. This is very strange because antibiotics are used against many other kinds of infection. So what's going on? Now it could be the case that for some reason bacteria in the microfilm cannot be destroyed by antibiotics, but in that case, why don't people say that? So WHAT ARE THE BACTERIA CALLED AND WHY CANT ANTIBIOTICS BE USED AGAINST THEM? It maybe just me, but I actually dislike the synthetically bleached teeth which Americans are so keen on. This lady is a case in point. I actually dislike the look of these magically white teeth. In the past, it was considered natural to have receeding gums and teeth fall out. It wasnt the end of the world. In primitive societies it wasnt such a big deal. Part of the problem is that people are living older and older ("getting long in the tooth" we say in English) and expect to be treated for everything.Everyone demands perfection and everyone demands perfect health. People forget they are going to die quite soon anyway. Sometimes I think they behave as though they are going to live for three hundred years. Well they aren't. Following on from this, there should be in all health programmes and that includes dental treatment, a very different view for a 20 year old a 40 year old a 70 year old. I mean if you tell a 20 year old, his teeth may fall out in 20 years, it is much more serious than telling a 70 year old his teeth may fall out in 20 years! Not making that clear is in my view dishonest. Flossing definitely makes sense, The reason is easy to understand. if gunge comes out from flossing, it must be doing something worthwhile.
I do agree. All those videos for oral health don't mention the age distinction. I am not telling periodontics is more pleasant once you get older, however it should be taken into consideration more as a standard if you are for example in your 60s than in your 20s.

Is there any drugs I can take to reverse the bone loss I now have teeth that are loose and severe gum Res sessions I flossed and brushed religiously for forty years and I really think I made my gum loss worst by maybe flossing too hard or to much and brushing too hard I now take a teaspoon of bleach in a cup of water and use it once a day as a mouthwash What a difference it made in stopping gum bleeding and the bacteria in the gums nothing else I tried worked as good I tried peroxide, tea tree oil and iodine they helped some but no where near as good as the chloride bleach recommended by a dentist on utube I don’t want to loose all my teeth but if I can’t reverse the bone loss I probably will and implants are so expensive I’d never be able to afford them

Haven’t been able to get in to see a dentist in over 5 years because they’re that backed up…idk what’s different now but I’ve never had a situation where I couldn’t get in to see a doctor or dentist when there’s a serious problem…I’ve never met before now a dentist that would be ok with letting people..especially kids and teens, go without treatment for something serious but…here we r and that’s the issue…my teeth r crumbling now and it doesn’t hurt…meaning they’ve died…and I’ve lived with this pain for years…nothing I can do to get it treated either…no dentist wishing a 5 hour radius and probably further then that…that will see new patients with it without ins but if u have an endless balance in ur checkbook I’m sure that would change lol…it would have been nice to know that Uv and infrared light therapy kills the bacteria that causes periodontal bacteria….and a low carb zero sugar diet also prevents tooth decay from my experience…only time I’ve never had tooth decay present or any dental problems is when I maintained a zero sugar low carb diet…but we r never taught that
I’m scared I’m young and I have this idk how severe it is or what I have to do I can’t go into the dentist because we don’t have enough money so I am gonna get a job and work my ass off bc I don’t wanna lose my jaw or my teeth I’m honestly very afraid man
You might try and get treatment from a dental school, it can be lower cost but still effective.
My dentist tells me my gums are healthy and yet they are receding. They don’t bleed. What would you recommend to a patient in the situation? The only advice I’ve gotten from my dentist is to use Sensodyne.
@Gibby Gibson My dentist believes I brush too hard.
Same!
@@describer99 if your dentist keeps saying your gums are healthy even though they receded that means you don’t have gum disease but you did mess up your gums a bit by brushing too aggressively. The good thing is that if you don’t have gum disease then it will not recede further as long as you fix your bad habits
change your dentist if you want a second opinion
Most of it about controlling what u eat, which is very hard to do..
I don't grind my teeth at night. I grind my teeth in the day... at work... trying to fit 16 hours of productivity in to an 8 hour shift. Been looking for a new job, because THAT is the cure. But, I've been looking for two years now. Just a WEE bit discouraged at this point. This job is going to give me a damned stroke. So, yeah, I grind my teeth all day, five days a week. I will probably lose them all.
Me too but I've recently been treated with Botox. It really works 👍
Your implants are nice. Does your office do them as well?
@@TeamXXJustin ...Thank you for your response, Justin. Your answer to my dental query is superb. I won't be purchasing a used Cavitron from eBay UK, instead I'll continue to use a Dental Hygienist to keep my teeth expertly clean. Have a good day, Justin.

@@bertiepimplebum5633 happy to help, have a fantastic day!
Justin L just curious, if a water flossed has lower power(water coming out is not fast enough) will that affect the results? I got a cheap water floss, it's doing quite well but I'm worried if it's not as cleaning as those expensive flossers
I've been using a waterpik flosser and it does work. My last visit to the hygienist was less than 5 minutes
I am 28 years old and have recessive gums. Its terrible and I clean my teeth twice a day and floss. I do grind my teeth at night and I dont know how to stop!
Your teeth grinding is likely causing your gum recession. You need to have your dentist make you a night-guard or get one from a department store or supermarket, the ones from the dentist usually fits better.
Try coconut oil pulling . I stopped grinding my teeth by doing it.
@@louisphily1 I agree, I grind my teeth and a mouth guard helped a lot.
Get a mouth gaurd and wear it when you sleep
@@Kikoysupandillareally? Does that really work for grinding your teeth?
Thanks for this video :) I have gingivitis and want to know how to treat it
So glad you liked it! It's a great topic and definitely important tips for everyone to know! Hope you see improvement!
@@peggybowndentistry1791 Thanks :) I will probably have to make a dentist appointment to have everything looked at but is there anything else I should do?
Started receding... what toothbrush do you recommend!??
I was recommended using a softer brush.
Sonicare
Soft toothbrush
Curaprox Hydrosonic Pro w/ Sensitive brush head! I started using this combo a couple months ago. I always hated electric toothbrushes but this thing is fabulous. The smaller brush head makes it way easier to control (for me, anyway)
I use a baby toothbrush
Very helpful!
Thanks.
I’m 18 and I realised that my toe front teeth were receding a bit I’m glad I searched straight away.
So glad this helped you!
I got top dentures and noticed by lower gums are starting to bruise and I get a lot of pain and don't have much confidence in the dentist I am going to as I am still using a homeless dental practice.
I am in Edinburgh and need to see someone who'll explain what I'm going through rather than what I have been doing just ain't working.
Ppl who have had braces get these problems, they have had their teeth shifted with braces are the ppl who have to get implants in my office.
This is my case unfortunately. My 8 front teeth (top and bottom) all have short roots right now and the bottom ones are almost gone. No one really taught my the seriousness of periodontal or any other details I should have known. Really a shame I have to suffer like this when I pay for people to take care of me. Truly a scam
Braces are the biggest crock of s@#$. All the time and expense to get your teeth straightened and then they start floating back to their original position because the bone does not fill in to secure them in their new position.
Do you have any thoughts on nightly use of ibuprofen?
What about oil pulling
WHY IS MUSIC PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND? IT'S DISTRACTING!
I have bleeding when flossing and brushing. Ugh I was told a long time ago thst I have periodontal gum disease. Today my first day of oil pulling because I have sensitivity right now. Last thing. I do chew ice quite a bit.
Does the oil pulling work for you?
@@chunyanji2686 Yes it does/did work.
What did u do to fix it
Why do you chew ice? I heard its terrible for your teeth
@@bellion9143 It's a problem; it's a challenge to quit but I do intend to.
(Look up papogaphia).
I used to eat cubed ice until I figured out how to lessen the impact on my teeth by creating small/thin sheets of it, lol...yeah it's crazy.
Thanks for sharing. 😊
I never knew you were supposed to go below the gum line when you flossed. No one ever told me that.

So true!
Thank you very much 🥰.
Wait. What about bone graft????
nice explaination
a question please why when the Bone downturn or shrink the gum olso shrink why doesn't stay in it place ? why the gum follow the Bone loss ?
I have a question : how many millimeters of destructive potential has the bacterial plaque in terms of bone resorption? 3mm? 2mm? Let me know please ;-)
Bacterial plaque has the potential to remove all supporting bone in worst case scenario. I am non dentist, but since many people has tooth loss due to bone loss, it make sense I guess.
Gorgeous blue eyes!
Thank you so much!
I always floss in the car on my way to meetings.
Can you over do things. Like floss, brush, water pick, and use tooth pick brushes
sometimes you just cant win ,,, damn if u do and damn if you dont
Nope. Over brushing is a no-no. There's a lot of videos explaining about this on yt. You should check it out :D
Brushing too hard can damage the gums, so I see dentist recommended extra soft toothbrushes.
I have a bulge between my front teeth. It happened during my pregnancy & I already had sensitive gums so flossing scared me. I'm waiting for an appointment with my dentist but I wish I could just get rid of this altogether. Thank you for this
Very interesting!
Bingo, i think bacteria and the ph balance influenced by diet. I think our mouth NEEDS healthy bacteria from foods. I had gingivitis and it disappeared by eating Blue Cheese one night... That yellowing of the teeth now glistening white, no itchy gums, no pain. Strange innit? 🙃
Is there any drugs I can take to reverse the bone loss I now have teeth that are loose and severe gum Res sessions I flossed and brushed religiously for forty years and I really think I made my gum loss worst by maybe flossing too hard or to much and brushing too hard
I now take a teaspoon of bleach in a cup of water and use it once a day as a mouthwash
What a difference it made in stopping gum bleeding and the bacteria in the gums nothing else I tried worked as good
I tried peroxide, tea tree oil and iodine they helped some but no where near as good as the chloride bleach recommended by a dentist on utube
I don’t want to loose all my teeth but if I can’t reverse the bone loss I probably will and implants are so expensive I’d never be able to afford them
Vitamin K2 with D3
I just recently noticed one of my bottom tooth 🦷 I saw the gum dropping below my tooth 🦷 it freaked me out I got scared 😱 I didn’t know what was happening and this tooth I’m talking about I do have a filling in it and it’s very old like 35 years old aIso I think it needs to be refilled! Great idea to floss in the shower while waiting for your conditioner to work.
