It’s a small product, being to fit in an amazing sound system and battery is hard to make small, which means that it will deteriorate over time, at the same rate as a phone.
I agree I’m not an 80’s kid but I’m currently using an iPhone 7 and just upgraded from an iPod touch. Sometimes random ppl will come up to me and ask what phone I’m using cause it’s “ so small “ ( I personally think the new phones are too big but) they’ll get shocked when I tell them that it’s a 5 year old phone and start to ask if I don’t make enough or smth when I could afford the newest iPhone just don’t wanna upgrade because this one still works fine

I think I got mine in 2019, they’ve been everywhere with me, different climates, different weather conditions and also once (accidentally) in a swimming pool. They still work like the day I got them. Best purchase I think I’ve ever had

I got my of AirPods pretty much the same year as you did but recently the sound they played in both AirPods started sounding like it was playing on outside somehow, quite sad but I'm getting AirPods Pro 2s, quite the big ipgrade if you ask me
My AirPods Pro 1 lasted 4 years, and only the case gave out probs from water damage from the washing machine. I replaced it with one from Amazon and there still going strong
Got a couple of xiaomi mi-buds 2 in 2019. They are still working today and i use them daily. I paid 15€ for them and i think is more impressive than airpods wich were around 200 back then, especially since they don't sound bad at all.
Bro I got AirPods in 2020 as well and I have also had them for 4 years. They survived me loosing them in the snow for weeks and still worked when I found them 💀
Mine still work. But one of them doesn’t have a mic because the adhesive they used melts from the heat of your ear. And incases the microphone. I tried to fix it but ended up making it worse 🤷♂️
An iOS update messed up the software on mines. I think it’s the update were they introduced widgets and I had put the battery one on.
